#2 San Antonio Spurs at #4 Utah Jazz
      Game 4 - Monday, May 28th, 9 p.m. Eastern (ESPN)

Utah improved to a perfect 7-0 SU at home in the playoffs (6-0-1 ATS) after Saturday's impressive 109-83 win in Game 3. While the Jazz have trailed at halftime three times in their last four home games, the fans have provided a huge boost after the break. In fact, Utah has outscored the Spurs and Warriors by a combined 114-69 in the second half of its last two home games. BIG EDGE: JAZZ

The Spurs have earned at least a split on the road in the first two road games of their previous two playoff series, going 4-2 away from home. They were 3-1-1 ATS on the road in the playoffs before Saturday's loss and remain a veteran team capable of putting the last game behind them and focusing solely on Game 4. San Antonio knows a win here could still give the team an opportunity to close out the series at home in Game 5. EDGE: SPURS

Foul trouble obviously played a major role in Game 3, with San Antonio's Tim Duncan, Fabricio Oberto, Bruce Bowen, Tony Parker and Francisco Elson all picking up at least four. No Spur other than Duncan (16 points & eight rebounds) grabbed more than four rebounds, and his string of games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds ended at 11. The Jazz also made just 21-of-32 free throws (66 percent) and likely won't get that many opportunities in Game 4. EDGE: SPURS

San Antonio is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 games.
Utah is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 games.
Utah is 8-0-1 ATS in its last 9 home games.
Home team is 8-0 ATS in the last 8 meetings.
OVER is 7-2 in Utah's last 9 games.

      Head-to-Head Recaps

WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS (HOME team in CAPS)

      RESULTS

San Antonio leads 2-1 SU & ATS
      OVER 3-0

      5/26/07 - Game 3 - UTAH 109, San Antonio 83 (ATS winner: Utah -2 | OVER 190.5)
      Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: After getting over some early nerves in the first quarter, the Jazz took advantage of foul trouble for the Spurs in rolling to an easy victory. Utah was outscored 23-15 in the first but got progressively stronger as the game went on while San Antonio went downhill offensively with Tim Duncan in foul trouble throughout. The Jazz outscored the Spurs 50-26 in the paint and scored 66 points after halftime to cash another easy OVER.

      5/22/07 - Game 2 - SAN ANTONIO 105, Utah 96 (ATS winner: SA -6.5 | OVER 188)
      Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: For the second straight game, the Spurs used a big second quarter to distance themselves from the Jazz and then held on for the cover despite being outscored in the second half. San Antonio has outscored Utah by 15 points in the second quarter of each of the first two games, topping the 30-point mark both times. The Jazz have then averaged nearly 60 points in the second half of both games to force the total OVER despite having their rallies fall short each time.

      5/20/07 - Game 1 - SAN ANTONIO 108, Utah 100 (ATS winner: SA -6.5 | OVER 186.5)
      Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: The Jazz outplayed the Spurs in the second half, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome a poor second quarter. Utah was outscored 31-16 in the second to enter halftime down, 54-36. The Spurs could not contain Deron Williams in the fourth though, when the second-year point guard scored 18 of his game-high 34 points. The heroics of Williams was almost enough to cover the spread for Jazz backers, but San Antonio's Michael Finley went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line to prevent that from happening. The 118 points scored between both teams after the break - including 68 in the fourth quarter alone - were more than enough to force an easy OVER.

      SCHEDULE

5/28/07 - Game 4 - San Antonio Spurs at UTAH JAZZ (ESPN | 9 PM ET)
5/30/07 - Game 5 - Utah Jazz at SAN ANTONIO SPURS (ESPN | 9 PM ET)
6/1/07 - Game 6 - San Antonio Spurs at UTAH JAZZ (ESPN | 9 PM ET)
6/3/07 - Game 7 - Utah Jazz at SAN ANTONIO SPURS (ABC | 8:30 PM ET)

      REGULAR-SEASON RESULTS

Series tied 2-2 SU & ATS
      OVER/UNDER 2-2

      3/30/07 - SAN ANTONIO 102, Utah 93 (ATS winner: SA -8 | OVER 185)
      1/31/07 - UTAH 97, San Antonio 93 (ATS winner: Utah +5 | OVER 185.5)
      12/28/06 - SAN ANTONIO 106, Utah 83 (ATS winner: SA -7.5 | UNDER 193.5)
      11/29/06 - UTAH 83, San Antonio 75 (ATS winner: Utah +1 | UNDER 190.5)

REGULAR-SEASON SERIES RECAP: The home team won and covered each meeting during the regular season, with the Jazz also winning straight-up twice despite being an underdog in every game. It's important to note that the Jazz beat the Spurs in the first meeting when they were on fire to start the season and then were handled rather easily in the last one when they were struggling down the stretch. This could definitely be another series where home court plays an important factor in who advances though San Antonio is a far superior road team, proving that once again vs. Phoenix.

          Hockey – Stanley Cup Preview

          NHL
          Stanley Cup Final Preview

          Monday, May 28

          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can the Ottawa Senators dispatch the Anaheim Ducks and take the Stanley Cup back to Canada? Here's a breakdown of the teams as the best-of-seven set gets underway:

          Forwards

No forward trio has been as effective as the Sens' unit of Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, and Dany Heatley so far during the playoffs. Alfredsson (10-7-17), Spezza (7-13-20), and Heatley (6-15-21) rank first, second, and fourth in postseason scoring, while Alfredsson's 10 playoff goals lead the league. The rest of Ottawa's forwards, though, haven't had much success lighting the lamp - Dean McAmmond is next-best with four goals and seven points. Anaheim's highest-scoring forward in the playoffs has been Ryan Getzlaf, who has five goals and eight assists. The rest of the Ducks' balanced group falls in behind Getzlaf on the points list - Selanne (12), Pahlsson (10), Moen (9), Perry (9), Rob Niedermayer (6), and McDonald (7). That spread-out production might make it harder for Anaheim to be completely shut down on offense, but they also don't have that one dominant unit that can be counted on for a key marker late in the contest.

          Defensemen

Getzlaf might be the Ducks' highest-scoring forward, but blueliner Chris Pronger is the club's highest-scoring player. Pronger has a team-leading 14 points so far in the playoffs (three goals, 11 assists), and he'll be tasked with stopping the Alfredsson-Spezza-Heatley line. Of course, Anaheim has a second superstar defenseman in Scott Niedermayer (who has been relatively quiet on offense with just nine points). Those two will see the bulk of the key minutes for the Ducks in this series, and there's not a better 1-2 blueline punch in hockey. Ottawa's defense is led by Wade Redden, who's a step behind both Pronger and Niedermayer but is certainly no slouch. And while Anaheim's defense drops off behind their two big guns, the Sens have more depth with the likes of Chris Phillips, Anton Volchenkov, Joe Corvo, Tom Preissing, and Andrej Meszaros. The Ducks will live-or-die with their top d-men; the Sens will need strong play from everyone.

          Goaltenders

Ray Emery has been outstanding for the Ottawa Senators so far during the playoffs. Emery has a 12-3 record through 15 postseason games, with a 1.95 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. Ducks counterpart Jean-Sebastien Giguere, though, has even better numbers - he's 9-3 with a 1.87 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage. As well, Giguere won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs' top performer back in 2003 (despite the Ducks losing in the Stanley Cup final). Anaheim's netminder, then, is no stranger to great efforts in the league's final weeks.

So who do the oddsmakers like in this series? The Ducks opened as -130 favorites to hoist the Cup, but that line has dropped to between -125 and -115 over the last couple of days. The Senators' odds have correspondingly gone from an opening +110 to just +100 to +105 at various books. For Game 1, Anaheim opened as a -155 home favorite, but that line has dropped to around -140. The total for the game is sitting at just 5 goals.

Here is the complete schedule for the Stanley Cup final (with all games at 8pm ET) . . .

Game 1 - Monday, May 28 - Ottawa at Anaheim
Game 2 - Wednesday, May 30 - Ottawa at Anaheim
Game 3 - Saturday, June 2 - Anaheim at Ottawa
Game 4 - Monday, June 4 - Anaheim at Ottawa
Game 5 - Wednesday, June 6 - Ottawa at Anaheim
Game 6 - Saturday, June 9 - Anaheim at Ottawa
Game 7 - Monday, June 11 - Ottawa at Anaheim

                  Dunkel Index

                  Ottawa at Anaheim
While Anaheim's arrival at the Stanley Cup was no real surprise, Ottawa's was. The Senators caught fire against Pittsburgh and New Jersey and then carried that over into their series with President's Trophy-winning Buffalo. The result was another five-game series win and Ottawa's first trip to the finals. It's hard to say Ottawa's success is a fluke at this point in the season considering the Senators have never trailed in any of their series thus far, are 7-3 in one-goal games and lead the playoffs with 3.20 goals per game while allowing only 2.07. The Senators also have the most prolific line in the postseason with Heatley, Spezza and Alfredsson, who rank 1-2-4, respectively, in playoff scoring with a combined 58 points. Ottawa looks like a dangerous team coming into this series and a good road underdog pick in Game One according to Dunkel, which has the Senators favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Ottawa (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                            Chicago White Sox at Minnesota
The Twins have not been able to take advantage of the Metrodome thus far and come into the contest with a below .500 record (12-14) at home. Part of that struggle has been reflected in the performance of ace Johan Santana, who is just 2-3 with a 4.35 ERA (compared to 3.05 overall). The White Sox have one of the better road records (12-10) in the AL and starter Jose Contreras has been tough to hit (1.91 ERA) in his five road starts this season. His best performance of the season came at Minnesota on May 10 when he shut out the Twins (3-0) on five hits. The White Sox look like a decent underdog pick (+200) in this one according to Dunkel, which has Chicago favored straight up by 1/2 a run. Dunkel Pick: Chicago White Sox (+200). Here are all of today's games.
