    Outstanding, Dennis!

That, in my opinion, means that you are a real leader!

I know just how you feel. I cover for my guys when they're sick, broken down, on vacation, etc. Won't hesitate to do whatever needs to be done, right down to the sweeping!

Alright, buddy, it's finally starting to come in. Here comes the Dunkel for baseball. Good luck today!

      LA Angels at Detroit
The Angels come into this series riding a season-high five-game winning streak that has seen the Halos outscore their opponents by a 31-7 margin. No pitcher has been hotter for L.A. than John Lackey, who has won four of his last five starts with a 1.40 ERA in his victories. But Lackey will run into a hot Detroit offense that pummeled St. Louis pitching for 28 runs in a three-game sweep over the weekend. And Jim Leyland should be able to count on a solid effort from starter Mike Maroth, who has led the Tigers to a perfect 7-0 mark when he pitches this season, including beating Johan Santana on the road his last time out. Detroit looks like a good home underdog pick (+131) in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Tigers favored straight up by 1. Dunkel Pick: Detroit (+131). Here are all of today's games.

        Utah at San Antonio
While the Spurs came away with the victory in Game One (108-100), the Jazz gained some confidence with they way they played in the second half after falling behind by 18 in the first. Deron Williams proved a tough option for San Antonio to handle with a 34-point performance, including 18 in the fourth quarter that saw Utah whittle the lead to seven twice in the last minute. Carlos Boozer (20 points, 12 rebounds) also came alive after an abysmal first half in which he had only one basket. Utah's losing streak in San Antonio has reached 17 games, so there are plenty of demons there. But Jerry Sloan's team has shown resilience in this postseason with tough road wins at Houston and Golden State under their belt. The Jazz look like a decent underdog pick (+6 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has San Antonio favored by 4. Dunkel Pick: Utah (+6 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

          Detroit at Anaheim
Nothing about this series has been easy and there's little reason to think the Ducks will have an easy time closing out Detroit tonight. The Red Wings were 48 seconds away from taking a 3-2 lead in the series when Scott Niedermayer scored to force the overtime in Game Five and Teemu Selanne won it minutes later. Mike Babcock's team has to be kicking itself for letting the home ice slip away like that. But the Wings also know they can win at Anaheim, as they did in convincing fashion in Game Three (5-0). And 42-year-old goalie Dominik Hasek continues to play like he's 10 years younger. With Detroit's back to the wall, the Red Wings look like a good underdog pick according to Dunkel, which has Detroit favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Detroit (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

              Streaking Pitchers

              Tuesday, May 22

              Hot pitchers

Jake Peavy (San Diego Padres) - There's no doubt that Jake Peavy tops today's list. The right-hander leads the league with a 1.64 ERA and boasts a 2-0 record with 25 strikeouts in three May starts. Peavy looks to improve on his 5-1 overall record when the Padres host the Cubs as -165 home favorites. Tonight's run total is set at 6 1/2, the lowest these teams have seen in two matchups this season.

John Lackey (Los Angeles Angels) - The Angels are riding a five-game winning streak when John Lackey (6-3, 2.43 ERA) takes the mound tonight in Detroit. Lackey is 4-1 in his last five starts and boasts a 1.40 ERA in those wins. Against Detroit, the right-hander is 5-0 in seven starts. The Angels are -120 road favorites and the total is set at 9.

              Cold Pitchers

Johan Santana (Minnesota Twins) - Johan Santana cold? He may be the best pitcher the Twins have to offer, but Santana's record has levelled off at 4-4 and he faces his first three-game losing streak in three years. His 3.26 ERA will be challenged tonight against the hot bats in Texas for Game 2 of a three-game series against the Rangers. Books list the Twins as -176 road favorites and have set the total at 9.

Zach Duke (Pittsburgh Pirates) - Duke's last win was a 6-3 victory over the Reds April 8. Since then, the lefty has been dealt four losses and three no-decisions and is left with a disappointing 5.19 ERA in 50 1/3 pitched innings this season.

                  Tuesday, May 22

                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves: (+114, 9 ½)

Even when the New York Mets were hosting the crosstown rival Yankees this weekend, they were still thinking about the Atlanta Braves.

Maybe that’s why the Mets dropped the finale of the series on Sunday night?

“The Braves are a great team and they’re our division rivals and that ought to matter more to us,” manager Willie Randolph told the New York Post. “They’re the team we’re trying most to beat, because if we beat them it means we’ll be playing in October. And that’s out chief goal.”

Atlanta has New York’s number this season, winning four of the six meetings between the teams and keeping the race for first place in the National League East close. In order to build their 2 ½-game lead, the Mets are sending former Brave, Jorge Sosa, to the bump.

Sosa, who has only pitched once against his former club, held Atlanta to one run on five hits during a six-inning showing with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays back in 2003. More recently, the Mets right-hander was stellar against the Chicago Cubs last Wednesday, giving up only one run on one hit for his third straight win of the season.

                  Pick: Mets -122

Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers: (+101, 7 ½)

After back-to-back victories, these are the Brewers we are used to.

It still sounds weird saying that, but the Brewers lead the NL Central by 6 1/2 games and bettors and fans had gotten used to watching them win. That is until the stretch right before the last two wins during which Milwaukee went 2-7 over nine games, most in part to the lack of power from the batting order.

Milwaukee averaged fewer than four runs per game during its slump and scored three or fewer runs in six of those nine games. Now, the Brew Crew is heating up again and has a couple lineup changes to thank for the surge.

The return of leadoff hitter Rickie Weeks has sparked Milwaukee’s order. The second baseman totaled four hits Monday night after a four-game hiatus. Cleanup hitter Bill Hall, who is stuck in a slump, was bumped to the seventh spot while NL home run leaders J.J. Hardy and Prince Fielder are batting third and fourth.

                  Pick: Brewers -109

Houston Astros at San Francisco Giants: (+106, 7)

Baseball fans are anxiously awaiting Round 2 of Roy Oswalt vs. Tim Lincecum after the two right-handers went pitch-for-pitch for seven innings Thursday night, leaving the game to be settled in extra innings.

The two combined for only six total hits, one run and 16 strikeouts, 10 of which came from the Giants’ deceptive fireballer. Tonight the Astros will get another look at San Francisco’s blue chipper who has since been tagged “The Franchise”.

While Lincecum blew Houston away on Thursday with his high-90s fastball and impressive breaking pitches, the Astros will catch up with the kid tonight. And any time you can steal one of the majors' best pitchers at a discount price, you'd better do it.

                  Pick: Astros -114
