Win or lose, Torre is the glue on this team. I don't think any of them would take well to that happening and their season would implode even worse at that point. They will turn it around now with Wang back and Mussina coming. The worst thing they could do is panic and do that (imo).
Wayne, I agree...no one should be shoveling dirt on this team 20 games in. The back end of the rotation has to be a major concern as Igawa is not panning out as hoped. This is Cashman's issue, not Torre's.

Karstens was drilled by a line drive that the 1st batter (Lugo) hit. He was down for awhile but he is pitching again ... not well i might add!

It looks like Murphy's Law is in force with the Yankees.

They've been grooming Mattingly to take Torre's place for 3 years. How can you say it won't be Mattingly?

I agree. Giradi would fit in much better with a young team, not the Yankees!

Disagree as he's been a coach with them for a while now. He's young too and can relate to the players. The pitching is what's killing the Yankees right now.

I doubt Mattingly is even 1/2 as smart and astute as Torre. That would be a poor choice in my opinion.
