  • Torre may be fired

I heard on Baseball Tonight that the New York Post and New York Times reported that if the Yanks get swept by the Sawx this weekend that Joe Torre will most likely be let go early next week. I guess it's Torre's fault that their entire pitching staff is injured.

you forgot Jeter's 7 errors, Andy wild pitches, Johhny getting hurt, don't they have a new trainer? Matsui always gets hurt, they are washed up

Torre is overrated..but you give an ALL STAR team bad pitching and you arent gonna dominate any league. Bad pitching gets killed by major league hitters.

I sound like a broken record but I blame Cashman...he has made some nice moves, but when was the last time this team had a middle relief corp that was decent? Every winter he revamps this area and every year they ar not good. They can't get to Rivera! He went into the season with Igawa and Pavano as the 4 and 5 with no back-ups. I like Minaya philosophy of picking up starters off of the scrap heap (like Sele, Park, Willians and last year Perez) in case of injuries. At least they have experience. Cashman has them relying on rookies and this team is a WIN NOW team, not a team buiilt for 5 yrs from now.

Injuries are part of the game. Every team gets them. When the Yankees won in the 90's one of the reasons why was their starters were never hurt. What goes around, comes around.

Exactly, and whose fault is that? I think it is Cashman's.

Rivera's 12+ ERA is not helping much either
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

I would be surprised if there is anyone available out there as good or better than Joe Torre to manage;I would trade Francona for him even up(and even throw in Timlin) in an instant.

Not sure I agree...he had a team decimated with injuries last year, granted he still had some great players, but there was a time when they were throwing out a team that was not playoff potential and he still won the division. Has he done a great job- no. Does he deserve the ax- no.

                            I couldn't agree more if I tried.

Torre is gonna be the scapegoat, but he can only manage with what he's given, and he was given zero chance with that pitching staff.

I blame Cashman too. And Tmac.

The Yankees are idiots if they fire Torre. Cashman should be the stupid fuck who gets fired for building a $200 ++ million payroll and having this pitching staff to show for it.

Win or lose, Torre is the glue on this team. I don't think any of them would take well to that happening and their season would implode even worse at that point. They will turn it around now with Wang back and Mussina coming. The worst thing they could do is panic and do that (imo).
