          Saturday, April 28

Detroit can clinch series here; they made 8-13 3's in dominating Game 3 win, holding Orlando to 54 points in last three quarters. Pistons have a total of only 26 turnovers in three series games; as Magic not getting easy hoops- they're 8-21 from arc in series so they're not getting much beyond arc, either.

Cleveland has taken 72 foul shots in first two series games, had relatively easy time so far, as Wizards without its injured stars Butler, Arenas. Washington is just 12-41 from arc, forced only 18 turnovers. Cavaliers need quick series to give James time to heal up from minor injuries.

Denver played well at Alamo, splitting pair, but shooting 38.6% in Game 2, as Iverson/Anthony combined for just 17 hoops in 46 attempts. Spurs took 23 FTs in Game 2, after only 10 in first game; they took ten less treys, so they attacked the hoop more. Denver's foul shots dropped from 25 to 17 in Game 2.

Utah forced 19 turnovers in Game 3 win, holding Rockets to 67 points, as Houston, aside from Ming/McGrady, made just six of 27 shots-- only six Rockets played more than 14:18. Jazz shot under 39% for second time in three games; they're 7-41 from arc in series. Utah had led at halftime of all three series games.

            Saturday, April 28

San Jose, youngest team left in playoffs, got outshot 23-9 after first period, but they scored two quick goals in Game 1, hung on for upset win, giving them home ice edge. There were 19 faceoffs in Shark zone, only 8 in Detroit's, so Wings pressured throughout last two periods, but couldn't put biscuit in basket.

Ottawa scored four goals in first period vs Hall of Fame goalie Brodeur, then hung on for dear life, as Devils rallied to 4-3, but Senators won, scoring pair of power play goals, while Jersey was 0-3 with man advantage. Senators now won last four tilts, allowing total of just seven goals.

                  Six-Pack for Saturday

-- Jeff Francoeur made terrific running catch in corner in RF to end game, or else tying runs would have scored, saving Atlanta's 9-7 win at Coors Field.

Idle thoughts as I watch the NFL Draft

-- First choice of day: ESPN or NFL Network? ESPN hires all the "edgy" guys; they have Keyshawn Johnson this time, so we switch to NFLN. How about hiring good guys instead of the jerks of the game? Just an idea..........

-- Then again, Deion Sanders is on NFLN, so it is hard to get away from this trend. Marshall Faulk and Steve Mariucci are terrific, though, so we'll stick with NFLN today, for most part.

-- But that means I won't get to hear as much of Mel Kiper, so I make a note to watch ESPN tomorrow; no one does Sunday of the NFL Draft like Mel Kiper, Jr.

-- Why would anyone trade for Randy Moss? I don't know how to put this, other than: HE DOESN'T ALWAYS TRY!!!!

-- Arizona Cardinals were 4-2 in NFC West last year, 1-9 out of its division. At least they have a nice stadium now.

-- Amobi Okoye is 250 days younger than anyone else ever drafted in NFL; he graduated college at age 19.

-- Brady Quinn has lost at least $10M so far, as he is still in a waiting area, as none of first ten teams drafted him. Commish Goodell has bailed Quinn out, sending him to a waiting area with no TV cameras, so we can't see him suffer.

-- Matt Millen still has a job; he just drafted another WR, kind of like the swallows returning to Capistrano. Amazing.

-- 49ers made great pick with Ole Miss LB Patrick Willis; he is going to be tremendous.

-- To me, when they show prospects do things in games, it means hell of a lot more than when they show workouts. It is the games that matter.

-- Four of the top eleven picks were SEC players.

-- Wisconsin OT Joe Thomas went fishing instead of going to New York for the Draft. Interesting choice, but he went #3 to the Browns, good pick for the Cleveland side.
