    Vancouver at Dallas
The Stars avoided elimination by winning in overtime at Vancouver on Thursday. But heading home has not been an advantage for Dallas, which has lost six straight postseason games at American Airlines Center -- one short of the NHL playoff record. That streak includes a pair of 2-1 losses in games three and four against the Canucks, who continue to get strong play from goalie Roberto Luongo (1.39 GAA, .953 save percentage). Vancouver looks like a good underdog pick in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Canucks favored straight up by 1. Dunkel Pick: Vancouver (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

      Streaking Pitchers

      Saturday, April 21

      Hot pitchers

Brad Penny (Los Angeles Dodgers) - No one is shutting down opposing hitters as well as the Dodgers ace right now. Penny is 3-0 on the season with a miniscule 0.89 ERA for Los Angeles, -143 home favorites tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The NL starter in last year's All-Star game has yet to allow a home run in over 20 innings of work.

Josh Towers (Toronto Blue Jays) - What a difference a year makes. At this time last season, bettors were wondering if there was any value left in Towers and his 8.42 ERA. Well, there's plenty of value in Towers tonight with the Blue Jays listed as +103 road underdogs against the Baltimore Orioles. He's put up a stellar 2.02 ERA so far this season, giving up only one dinger and one walk in two starts to go along with a .296 OBP against.

Chris Capuano (Milwaukee Brewers) - Capuano is looking like the pitcher who threw well enough to make the NL All-Star team last season. Capuano is 2-0 in three starts in 2007 with a 2.81 ERA, including a 2.53 ERA during night games. Add to that the left-hander's sparkling .254 OBP against and 1.06 WHIP, and you can see why oddsmakers have priced the Brewers as -136 favorites tonight.

      Cold pitchers

Clay Hensley (San Diego Padres) - Let the numbers speak for themselves: Hensley is 0-3 in April with a demotion-worthy 12.21 ERA. Digging a little deeper, Hensley has proven himself worthless by serving up seven homers in only 14 innings pitched to go along with eight free passes. Couple that with Hensley's whopping .444 OBP against and stiff 2.29 WHIP, and the Padres +125 underdog tag tonight against the Colorado Rockies becomes risky business.

Boof Bonser (Minnesota Twins) - Bonser has gotten off to a tough start with an 0-1 record and a 6.89 ERA in three starts. While Bonser is striking out nearly a batter an inning, he's negating his good stuff by giving up the long ball (five in 15 innings) and walking eight batters in three starts. Books have Bonser's Twins as -110 road favorites today against the Kansas City Royals.

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets: Atlanta +112

New York manager Willie Randolph joked this past week during his team’s demolition of the Florida Marlins that setting a lineup was trivial because of the depth on the Mets roster. Well, who’s laughing now?

Atlanta took the pop out of New York’s bats Friday night, holding them to a 7-3 victory as -104 road favorites. The Braves have handed the Mets three of their five losses this season and have limited New York to three or less runs in those wins.

Right-handed hurler Chuck James faces New York’s star-studded lineup on Saturday afternoon. He is 2-1 in three starts this season with a 2.25 ERA. James is 9-2 in his last 11 starts carrying over from last year, including an eight-inning, one-hit shutout last September.

Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles: Toronto +103

The last time Toronto's Josh Towers won back-to-back starts was July of 2005. Funny enough, one of those wins came against the Orioles in the form of a nine-inning shutout performance. This also marked the last time Towers faced his former club.

The young righty appears to be shaking his habit of less-than-consistent pitching, throwing over seven innings against the Detroit Tigers last weekend while giving up only three hits. Towers needs to put in another lengthy effort to keep the Jays' stumbling bullpen out of the picture.

Toronto’s reserves are accountable for three losses in the last six games. In almost 45 innings the bullpen is 2-4 with a 4.03 ERA and five blown saves, including Friday night’s eighth-inning collapse to Baltimore.

Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels: Los Angeles -147

Los Angeles management must have carefully planned for staff ace Bartolo Colon to make his season debut against the Seattle Mariners, given the former Cy Young winner's recent record against the M’s.

Colon, who is returning from shoulder surgery, won his last four starts against Seattle and has a 10-8 career record versus the Mariners. This game marks his first major league start since July.

Also helping ease Colon back into form are the Angels' bats, which have recently come alive after being dormant since the start of the season. Los Angeles swatted across eight runs against Seattle on Friday night, two more than it totaled during its six-game losing skid.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers: Los Angeles -143

Can the Pittsburgh Pirates stop the bleeding? They have given up 24 runs in the last three games, including 10 runs to the Dodgers on Friday night.

Pittsburgh turns to young right-hander Ian Snell to close the flood gates. Snell is on top of his game, going 1-1 in his first three starts with a 1.80 ERA. But he hasn’t fared well against Los Angeles during his short career. Snell is 1-1 in four career games against the Dodgers and posts a 7.50 ERA.

Los Angeles is smashing the ball lately, hitting .297 this past week. It has won five of its last six games and averaged almost seven runs per game while doing so.

Vince Carter is Public Enemy #1 in Toronto, after admitting he didn't try his best so Raptors would get rid of him; this is a big series for Raptor franchise that regained lot of respect this year winning their division. Nets won three of four vs Toronto this season, splitting here; home side won three of four. Nets won four in row, ten of last thirteen games- their guys have more in area of playoff experience.

Miami is defending champ until someone knocks them out, but they've had disjointed season, with Wade/Shaq hurt at various times. Chicago blew #2 seed in East with loss to the Nets in last game, only their third loss in last thirteen games. Heat is 0-9 vs spread in last nine games.

Detroit beat Orlando four times this year, 104-99/110-88 here, 87-83/94-89 in Florida. Pistons drifted through end of season as veteran teams often do. Orlando is excited to be playing; they have young team that won six of last seven games, losing only to Pistons in this arena April 11. Darko vs his old team.

Houston lost three of four vs Utah this season, including last two meetings, 101-91/86-83, but Jazz was awful down stretch, losing eight of last eleven games, but two of the wins were vs Houston. Rockets won five of last six games, are healthy and loaded with talent. Both coaches are excellent.

Home side now 8-0 in Calgary-Detroit games this season, as the Flames evened series with pair of 3-2 wins at home; problem is they've been crushed twice in Motor City (4-1/3-1, outshot by a 97-35 margin) and need to win game here to win series. Wings outshot Flames 35-21in Game 4 loss, but Kiprusoff's play kept Calgary in it. Lot of pressure on Detroit in this game.

Under is now 8-1 in Dallas-Vancouver games this season, with total of nine goals scored in last four games. Only one goal has been scored in first two periods of last three games. Three of five games in this series went OT. Canucks are 0-18 on with a man advantage over last four games.
