    I toatally agree!!!
But I will also include the school admin in on the fucking up...If they (and the POLICE included) would have locked down the school or at least notified the students the second tragedy would have been minimalized (by the notifification) or prevented.
I have been in similar situations (on a much smaller scale) and have seen the school administration and school district struggle with making a quick decision based on saving the reputation of the institution. BUT the Polce do have the power to over ride (to a certain extent the school admin)

FUCKED UP AND SAD ALL AROUND!!!!!

i just dont understand why the police didnt just take over everything and lock the place down. i mean it cant take more than what 10-15 min to have litterally hundreds of cops on that campus. how could they atleast not have every bldg and roadway blocked as a check point. how could they let 2hrs go by and then another shooting occur. something isnt right?

        Guys:

I will not defend the actions of the school due to the incident that has occurred, but please do not jump to conclusions before the information is out.

In short, I do believe that VA Tech admin and law enforcement did fuck up, but let it all play out.

I can tell you this, the campus is big and as previously stated in this thread, takes a while to walk between both points. From my understanding, the first shooting occurred around 7 AM, very early in the morning. The second around 2 hours later. There are probably all sorts of emergency contingency plans that were not implemented here, but it would not be difficult for the shooter to merge into the background as just another student. This is a big campus with over 25K students, so you can't search them all.

Please don't read this the wrong way, I am not defending the admin or law enforcement UNTIL all facts are known, which will take some time. I don't believe any emergency contigency plan is ever implemented as planned. I am sure, at the end, blame can be spread in many different directions. For gosh sakes, this is a campus, not an easy place to lock down as stated. Just wait to hear out the facts...

I agree, hind sight is 20/20. I would not trade shoes with the police or any of the administration right now for nothing

You can believe this.....The answers will come out and people will be held accountable. No stone will be unturned. If they did screw up, it will come out. If they did their job as best they could, this too will turn out as well. We'll see.

Can you believe that Bush comes on CNN and says he told the Head of the University that he'll help in anyway he can with the investigation.
What and who to investigation? The guy shot himself and is dead.
              Bush is fucking retarded.

I feel for all the families out there and he should be helping them.

Probably to help with the cover-up on why the lid(total lockdown on the school) wasn't done after the first shots were fired early this morning

my point simply is. regardless of the size or population of the campus how can you not have the bldg's enterences surrounded with law enforcement? i understand its hard to find the suspect among so many students. but to not have police in or around every single bldg is rediculous. quite frankly its embarrassing.

if the police/school simply locked down the school and dispatched officers all throughout the campus maybe the 2nd shooting could have been prevented that is my point

Maybe he thinks the shooter isn't really dead. Maybe the guy shot someone and then put the guns and ammo on that guy, and jumped out the window pretending to be ducking for cover.

                        You never know!

Chuck et all, this tragedy is no different really from others such as tornadoes and hurricanes. We are not a nation of fast acting police and aid givers. Its apparently takes time to mobilize. Unfortunately, its too late and the misdeed is often carried out before anyones whistle goes off. It is a snooze alarm for first alerts- a waiting for higher ups to make the decision while they are not within earshot of a telephone. Its a sad depiction of american society. A travesty of overpaid people who cannot just say get in the truck and lets go!!!!!
No they would rather wait till they armed to the teeth and go in as on a military adventure. They will get no glory this day!
They were late (first shot around 7:15)and behind by hours while students began filling the classrooms for there 9am classes- only to hear gunshots and crawl under their desks away from the windows!
So sad- poor response and poor communication! Who is in charge! Who put out the alert on e-mail--same as they did the last time this happened here. One report had an all clear! The chancellor is going down on this one!~

It's a huge campus. Plenty of places to hide, and if he got out of the dorm (AJ) fast, and had the weapon in a backpack, he could have easily ducked into another dorm or any of the dining halls that are nearby. Plus at that hour it's so crowded on campus it would be easy for him to blend in before crossing campus to get to Norris.

So much Homeland Security.....Our Country isn't any more safer today as it was in 911.
Last Tuesday I went through security at the Tampa airport and the metal detector never went off. I told the cop that I had a screw in my thumb under my cast. He took me inside a class section and rubbed my cast with a gauze pad and then told me to proceed through.
Fuck, I could have had a gun in my pants pocket for all that matters. I had a belt on, a cell phone in my pocket, and a wallet with a magnetic click in it, and this numnutz left me go right through.
It's a shame as to how much money has been spent at some places and not at others.

Sad and Tragic to say the least.

From what I understand they say the first two shootings have been classified as domestic and thats why they thought it was over and done with.

FWIW I dislike George Bush but I think his appearance on TV and his offering for help was absolutely necessary.....this is an American tragedy and he is the leader.

                                PEACE
