When I was trying out for the Steelers back in the 70's, the only chance for any of us free agents to make the team, was to take steroids , to get faster and stronger and become equal or better than the guys we were trying to beat out.
My roomate in College became impotent and would piss blood all the time. He got thrown off the Football team because he lost respect for everyone but himself. He would do sit ups with 2- 100 lb weights on his stomach 5- 10 times a day and during the middle of the night.
He ended up moving to Ca. and became a bodyguard for Chuck Norris. And eventually died and unexpeted death.

I can tell you many of stories about some of the Steelers I know and that died. Mike Webster being the most recent.

I thought Barry started doing steroids in San Francisco, When he was in Pittsburgh he was skinny as a rail. Everything I have read indicates Barry got his steroids from guys in California. So Chuckie you are telling me that the guys you bought the steroids from in Pittsburgh moved to California.
Show me where in my post did I say Barry used steroids when he played for the Pirates. I said that I know the same guys who he got them from.

By the way, Barry was 6'2" and weighted 210 lbs when he played in 1986. He was never skinny. And don't believe everything you read. Reporters always extort most of the truth to get a big story.

            My two cents on Barry...
He will go down as one of the best players of all-time (he HR's Gold Gloves, Stolen Bases, MVP Awards validate this statement.
            Baseball is entertainment.
            Barry is entertaining to watch.
All this tainted talk about steroids...give it a rest already. Please prove it, find me a positive test.
Indict him on not paying taxes...that is how they nailed Capone and all some other CEO types...do it already. Why wait?
Why are football players and pro wrestlers placed on a pedestal, surely there have been plenty of guys on steriods in there sports?
All of this BS is jealously and the media's genuine dislike of Bonds.
Bonds is asshole to the media so they tear in him up in the newspaper, radio etc..
How many pro athletes are not assholes? I would venture to guess a small minority are really personable guys.
For all you haters out there, get over yourselves abd enjoy watching history.

I think Bonds is the best hitter of all time as well. If I had to choose one batter TODAY to bat with the bases loaded in a tie game, it would be Barry Bonds, and he's 42 years old. How crazy is that?

This may seem a little 'gay' but this is ultimately the reason that I am a huge Barry fan. I have lived in Pittsburgh my entire life and when I was just starting to play baseball seriously it was the late 80's and early 90's. I always went to Pirate games with my father and sat in the mezzanine seats(first 5 rows of the upper deck) at Three Rivers Stadium. During warm-ups one day Bonds was shagging fly balls in left field and throwing them into the stands. I always liked Barry and even wore #24 when I played myself. Being a 9 year old child I was yelling at Barry to throw me a ball and somehow he actually heard me. He caught another lazy fly ball during BP and turned to the upper deck and pointed at me. He threw me a perfect strike that I caught and I still have the ball to this day. The reason I posted this was because yesterday we were looking at pictures and watching movies on my birthday and I had pictures of a ball game in one stack. Baseball has given me some great memories and that one game that Barry threw me the ball is one of the most vivid.
