        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tampa Bay at Texas: Pick Devil Rays +130

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have an embarrassment of riches in terms of fast young players. The kids are showing they can swing the bat too. Veteran left fielder Carl Crawford is one of the best leadoff men in the league and this lineup is strong all the way down to rookie center fielder Elijah Dukes hitting in the seven-hole.

Jae Seo will start today for the D-Rays, but don’t look too deeply into his 7.11 earned run average. Seo gave up only one walk and surrendered a couple infield hits in 6 and a third innings against the New York Yankees.

As for the Texas Rangers, their lineup no longer has the same number of big bats. Outside of Mark Teixeria and Michael Young, there aren’t any hitters teams need to worry about.

Milwaukee at Florida: Pick Brewers +111

We know the Florida Marlins are a young team, but what are they thinking starting rookie Rick Vanden Hurk today against the Milwaukee Brewers? Normally it would be Ricky Nolasco’s turn in the rotation, but he was placed on the disabled list with elbow inflammation.

Vanden Hurk started this year in Double-A ball, but hasn’t made a start yet this year. He hasn’t pitched in a game above Class-A ball. The 21 year old is 5-12 with a 3.47 ERA in four minor-league seasons.

“Our people think real highly of him,” Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez told the Associated Press.

If the youngster has any control issues early on, the Brewers could make him pay. Rickie Weeks and J.J. Hardy both have the ability to steal bases and can be a distraction to pitchers.

St. Louis at Pittsburgh: Pick Pirates –128

Don’t believe what the early boxscores are telling you about the Pittsburgh Pirates offense. This lineup is improved from last year and it will only get better now that defending N.L. batting champion Freddy Sanchez has rejoined the club.

“We definitely didn’t have our bats,” shortstop Jack Wilson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette after Monday’s 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. “We might have been pressing a little because we wanted to show people how good a team we have.”

Tom Gorzelanny will take the mound for the Pirates today. He pitched well last week against the Houston Astros giving up two earned runs and only one walk in five innings of work.

The Cards will continue to try and get by with a makeshift rotation. Today they send another pitcher with little starting experience to the hill. Randy Keisler has started only two games in 35 appearances over the last two seasons.

Los Angeles Clippers at New Orleans Hornets (8 PM ET)
Los Angeles needs to get back on track quickly if it wants to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1992-93. The Hornets have missed the postseason the last two years, but have won four of their last five games to put pressure on Golden State and Los Angeles. EDGE: HORNETS
The Clippers have won both meetings with New Orleans this season, including a 100-90 victory in their most recent matchup on Jan. 8. EDGE: CLIPPERS
New Orleans has won 12 of the last 16 meetings at home.
The OVER is 7-1 in the Clippers last eight road games.

New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls (8:30 PM ET)
Chicago is 14-5 since February 28th, including wins in seven of their last nine games. With two more wins, they would become the winningest Bulls team since Michael Jordan last played for Chicago in the 1997-98 season. EDGE: BULLS
The Bulls have dominated the Knicks at the United Center, winning four straight and eight of 10 overall. BIG EDGE: BULLS
The Knicks have lost eight of their last 11 on the road, while the Bulls are a conference-best 29-10 at home. BIG EDGE: BULLS
The UNDER is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Chicago.
