  • How to get -1 runlines

I know some people have been asking but if anyone wanted to know. How to create your own -1 RunLine in MLB…I played it in the NYY opening game and made a nice piece of change.
It's an alternative way of not laying -1.5 runlines on high moneyline favorites, if they only win by 1.

Easiest way to do this is with an example – last August there was a game where the Braves were -170 on the ML and +140 on the -1½ RL.
To make a -1 RL bet, just make 2 bets so that you break even if the Braves win by exactly 1 run.
In this case, let’s bet $170 (substitute here for whatever the line is for the game you want to bet) to win $100 on the Braves ML –
then we want to make a bet so that we win $170 if the Braves win by 2 or more runs –
The amount to bet here can be calculated by 1.40 (sub. whatever line is for game you want to bet) x $amt to bet = $170 or $amt to bet=$170/1.4=$121.

So now we have 2 bets:
$170 to win $100 on the ML and $121 to win $170 on the -1½ run line

    3 things can happen:
Braves win by 2 or more runs – we win $270
    Braves lose, we lose $291
Braves win by exactly 1 run, we break even

So in effect we are laying $291 to win $270 for effective odds of -108 on the -1 run line

If you didn’t want to risk $291, just divide all amounts to get the amounts to bet, e. g., if you wanted to risk $100 divide every amount by 2.91

Chuck, you would lose $21 if Braves won by one run:

      $170 to win $100 would be a win +100
      $121 to win $170 would be a loss -121

I think you wanted to do this:

      Braves -170 moneyline $170 to win $100
      Braves -1.5 runline +140 $100 to win $140

If the Braves win by 1, then you break even. If the Braves win by 2 or more, you win $240.

I love making -1 runlines as well as doing this in hockey (although you get a lot of breakevens in hockey).

good luck with your bets today.

Chado, I make my own -1 pucklines. For example on Betjamacia now Dallas is a -180 and a +160 for the -1.5 puckline. To make a -1 puckline you bet:

          $180 on Dallas (-180) to win $100
Then bet $100 to win $160 on Dallas -1.5 (+160)

so if Dallas wins by 2 or more goals, you win $260
if Dallas losses, you lose $280
if Dallas wins by 1 goal, you break even.

I haven't seen an online book that has this either, that's why I like to make my own on higher line games I like. The bet is the same as Dallas (-108) approx. -1 puckline. Hope this answers your question. Nice to use these, but a lot of times you break even.

The easiest thing to do is create a spreadsheet for yourself. You create the formulas to do the calculation. Then you pop in the lines and it tells you how much to put on each wager.

This theory only works if the favorite is + on the run line
                        Good Luck!

True, if the favorite is - on the runline, you risk a little on a push
