    Six-Pack for Sunday

We're looking at major league teams all month, before the season starts. Tonight, its the Los Angeles Angels.......

-- Angels' ranked 10th in AL in on-base percentage in 2006.

-- They also allowed 80 unearned runs, 2nd-most in MLB.

-- Over last two seasons, Angels have 12 complete games.

-- Garret Anderson has had nine seasons where he hit 15+ homers, while walking less than 40 times., tied for third on the all-time list, behind Matt Williams, Andre Dawson.

-- Juan Rivera (23 HR, 85 RBI) broke his leg playing winter ball down in Venezuela, will be out until at least June.

-- Angels only have six players left from 2002 title team.

Sunday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but.........

      13) Early returns on the first year with an NBA age limit is the concept that the big boys are going to benefit come tourney time. No way is Ohio State playing now without Greg Oden; he just provides a dimension that doesn't exist in college. So, for the foreseeable future, no more George Mason-types in the Final Four.......

      12) Horrible effort by Kansas, which converted 14 of 33 shots you could call layups or dunks. Not like UCLA has guy who blocks ton of shots, like an Oden. Credit goes to Bruins, who go to second straight Final Four, but lousy job by Jayhawks.

      11) One of the great aspects of having a satellite dish if that I get to see state championship high school games from some of the states around the country. Mike Montogomery was a color commentator in Sacramento at the California state title game; if he coaches next year, we lose an excellent analyst.

      10) When a kid from Fairfax travelled, Montgomery said that "Where I was last year, that wasn't a walk..." meaning when he was coaching the Warriors in the NBA.

      9) In the Michigan state title game, Joe Dumars' son played on the state championship Detroit Country Day squad.

      8) Mets took Chan Ho Park out after his three prefect innings, and he wasn't very happy about it. Looks like Pelfrey or Sele will be the Mets' fifth starter. They better score a lot of runs.

      7) Watched Devil Rays-Red Sox Saturday; somehow, Tampa went through whole winter and has the same awful pitchers in their bullpen. "We tried to make some movies, but things didn't quite work out." was how Andrew Friedman, the club's overmatched GM, described the situation. Ugghhh.

      6) That said, D-Rays have ton of good athletes on field, with Crawford, Dukes, Young, Upton. Not surprisingly, Baldelli is hurt again (hamstring, again). Can't wait for him to become a free agent and play all 162 for Bronx or the Red Sox.

      5) I'm looking forward to White Sox-Ranger game this season; there seems to be some bad blood between Ozzie Guillen and former Chisox hurler Brandon McCarthy, now with Texas.

      4) Joe McEwing is still on Red Sox roster; he must be a great guy, sticking around big leagues as long as he has, playing nine years for four different teams. He was even traded for Jesse Orosco once, which automatically makes him old.

      2) Winona State had its 57-game winning streak ended in the D-II national championship game, as tiny Barton College (950 students) scored twice in final :05 to upset Winona 77-75.

      1) One of my all-time favorite movies is on Sunday night on ESPN Classic, at 8 and again at 10; Fast Break, starring Gabe Kaplan as a college basketball coach. Lot of laughs.

        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1 Florida vs. #3 Oregon (2:40 PM ET)
Florida is on a seven-game winning streak and 19-1 in postseason play the last three years and 21-1 in March over that time. BIG EDGE: FLORIDA
Florida's nine consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances represents not only the best stretch in school history, but the Gators are also tied for the third longest streak in SEC history. EDGE: FLORIDA
Oregon has five players averaging in double figures and is led by senior guard Aaron Brooks with 17.8 points per game. However, insiders believe the 6-foot Brooks and 5-6 Tajuan Porter (game-high 33 points on Friday) will be at a size disadvantge against the taller and stronger Gators. EDGE: FLORIDA
The Ducks are 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games.
The Gators are 7-2 ATS in their last nine NCAA Tournament games.

        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1 North Carolina vs. #2 Georgetown (5:05 PM ET)
Georgetown has won seven straight games and 18 of 19 overall. The Hoyas rank No. 4 in the country in scoring defense, allowing only 56.9 points per game and are No. 4 nationally in field goal percentage offensively - connecting on 50.5 percent of its shots. BIG EDGE: GEORGETOWN
It's been nearly 25 years since these teams met in one of the most famous NCAA Tournament games ever, the 1982 national championship game. Freshman Michael Jordan hit the game-winning shot for North Carolina to beat the Hoyas, and both current coaches have ties to that game. Georgetown head coach John Thompson III's father coached the Hoyas back then while North Carolina's Roy Williams was an assistant to Hall of Famer Dean Smith. As much as the Hoyas deny it, you can bet they are tired of hearing about that game and would like nothing more than to exact some revenge. SLIGHT EDGE: GEORGETOWN
North Carolina has reached the Final Four a record 16 times, last appearing in 2005 en route to winning the national championship. Georgetown has not made it since 1985. EDGE: NORTH CAROLINA
The key matchup in this game will be between North Carolina's Tyler HanXXXough and Georgetown's 7-foot-2 center Roy Hibbert. HanXXXough has not faced a defensive player of Hibbert's caliber all season and could struggle inside. EDGE: GEORGETOWN
The Hoyas are 10-5-1 ATS in their last 16 neutral site games.

Denver is 3-6 in its last nine road games as it winds down a five-game road trip, which ends Monday at Detroit. EDGE: CAVS
This will be the eighth game between Cleveland and Denver since the 2003 draft with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. The Nuggets have a 5-2 advantage in the series since the draft, including a 2-1 record in Cleveland. EDGE: NUGGETS
The Cavaliers are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games against the Western Conference.

San Antonio Spurs at Seattle SuperSonics (9 PM ET)
San Antonio has had no trouble against Seattle this season, winning the first two meetings by a combined 51 points. BIG EDGE: SPURS

                  Oregon vs. Florida
The Ducks have kept up the momentum coming out of the Pac-10 tourney and have now won nine straight with an impressive 8-1 record against the spread. The only blemish during that stretch was a two-point win over Miami of Ohio (58-56) in the opening round of the NCAAs. But Oregon bounced back by covering easily against upstart Winthrop (75-61) and then holding off another hot team in UNLV (76-72) behind Tajuan Porter's 33 points. Florida has had to come from behind in all three of its games and failed to cover against lower-rated Purdue (74-67) and Butler (65-57). The Gators were still able to turn it on enough to get the wins, but against the balanced attack of Oregon (all five starters average in double figures) Florida should have its hands full. The Ducks look like a good underdog pick (+7) in this one according to Dunkel, which has Florida favored by only 1. Dunkel Pick: Oregon (+7). Here are all of today's games.

                    Golden State at LA Lakers
Kobe Bryant has been hot, but Golden State has been hotter. The Warriors have won seven of their last 10 straight up with an even better record of 9-1 against the spread (including 4-1 on the road). While Kobe is putting up numbers not seen since the days of Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor, the Lakers are just 4-6 over their last 10 straight up and an even worse 2-8 against the spread (including 0-3 at home). Golden State looks like a solid underdog pick (+4) in this one according to Dunkel, which has the Warriors favored straight up by 5 1/2. Dunkel Pick: Golden State (+4). SUNDAY, MARCH 25

                          Colorado at Vancouver
The Avalanche trail eighth-place Calgary by five points with eight games remaining, including tonight's contest in Vancouver that opens a home-and-home series with the Canucks. Colorado can ill-afford losses right now, which made Friday's 4-3 overtime loss painful considering it snapped the Oilers' 12-game winless streak. But overall the Avalanche are playing like a team desperate to make the playoffs and have won nine of their last 11. Even against a solid Canucks team (winners in eight of last 10), Colorado looks like a decent underdog pick according to Dunkel, which has the Avalanche favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Colorado (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                              NCAA Regional Finals

                              Sunday, March 25

Underdogs have dominated this round last 4+ years, covering 15 of 18 regional finals, which results in slightly lower spreads than you might think here. Georgetown has now won seven in row, 18 of last 19 games; they're 2-1 vs spread as underdog this season, and 13-3 outside of Big East, splitting pair against ACC foes (Duke 52-61/BC 62-55ot). North Carolina also won its last seven games; they're 17-1 outside ACC, losing only on neutral court to Gonzaga- their only game vs Big East team this season was 87-48 win vs lowly Rutgers. Both teams faced hefty deficits at halftime in last game (UNC 33-42/Georgetown 24-32).

Over last 3+ years, when higher seeded team is favored to win a regional final, higher seed is 1-11 vs spread; Florida's pattern all season has been slow starts, but Oregon's guards are so good, Gators better show up to play 40:00 today, or else. Ducks won last nine games (8-1 vs spread), allowing 58.3 ppg in last five-- they're 7-3 vs spread as underdog this year. Indication of just how good Oregon is was 57-50 win at Georgetown Nov 29 (+4) Florida won its last seven games (5-2 vs spread); they're 16-2 in non-SEC games. Oregon is 15-0 outside of Pac-10 play.
