Not once did you mention one of the big reasons Detroit got rid of him and it wasn't cuz they didn't like his game. They didn't want to pay him and they knew him being in his final contract year, they better get something for him. Tatum Bell is just another Kevin Jones imo. Hopefully one of them can stay healthy. I also think you have to know he looked alot better in Denver with their line and system then he will in Detroit. I think that's obvious and i think others like Reuben Droughns and Mike Anderson have proved leaving Denver isn't always easier. You could point to Portis but what has he done besides getting injured?
I think Denver clearly got the Best Player in the deal and that's what you want to do in any trade.
Not want to pay him? They already did when they got him from StLouis as a FA.....this dont work like MLB or the NBA where guys get traded so teams get something in their walk years......in the NFL guys get cut for the sole purpose of a hard salary cap.....BLY is a cover jam corner who the Lions and their cover 2 system say his skills arent necessary.......if he didnt get traded buddy he was gonna get cut but then he couldve gone anywhere and Denver wanted him bad enough they dealt for him and will now themeselves try and lock him long term...........Lions are stupid as an organization but they arent cheap.....they IMO have been one of the top players in NFL FA right behind the likes of the Skins in spending.......Lions nabbed 3 OL back when FA was first created, Scott Mitchell when he was the top backup on the market....James Stewart as the top RB from JAX.....and recently names like Bly, Damien Woody, Fernando Bryant, Kenoy Kennedy etc, etc etc......this has absolutely zero to do with $$$$ Wayne
Doesn't matter. The Best player went to Denver where RB's are a dime a dozen. Bell will be cursed in Detroit with everyone else.
Good deal both ways.....actually I am more impressed with Foster in this deal, not Bell....I dont think Bell can handle a full load and Bly is no Champ Bailey......Bly is a risk taker......Bailey will just stick to you like crazy glue and will still pick you off

PEACE
Bly will benefit big time playing with Bailey. Detroit did need OL help but let's face it, it's Detroit. When they prove me wrong or Matt Millen is gone, let me know. Until then, they are and always will be the Lions. They couldn't win with Barry and they can't win w/out him.

LOL we actually did win with Barry.....made the NFC title game once and made the playoffs many times and were a respectable franchise.......since he left they have been straight trash for 10 seasons......pathetic
Well ... They didn't have that much success. Barry ran for 70 or more yards once in 6 playoff games and the last 5 times the Lions made the Playoffs between '93-'99 they lost every one of them in the 1st round by an average of 11 ppg.
They havn't been to the Playoffs in this decade and they still have Matt Millen. Man ... The future doesn't even look bright (imo).
Look on the bright side. You have the Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings to cheer for!
Lions were decent then Wayne......to they didnt win with him or w/o him suggests they were this bad when he was around which wasnt the case......no they didnt have any playoff success but that game they won in 91 was the only one they have won in about 60 years
They are a pathetic excuse for a franchise, I agree but they were respectable with him....nothing great but very competitive
I think Peterson and Johnson should go one two, but I'm a big time Raider hater so I'm hoping they take Russell. I think if the Lions had Johnson and Roy Williams they'd be tough to stop, especially with the offense they run. The Bucs should sign Jeff Garcia and draft offensive lineman Thomas. IMO Cleveland should take Peterson.
I just can't imagine Detroit would take a receiver AGAIN. Maybe but i think it's time that franchise drafts a QB with a pick this high. Kitna is not the future and why not now. I think you put a young QB with Williams and Furrey, along with the 2 RB's and it's a start. Who knows about Mike Williams but i think they already have two solid receivers there. Get a QB Detroit!!!!!
Peterson to Cleveland is a lock i think. I also think Russell goes to Oakland and Maybe Jeff Garcia does as well. He loves the Bay Area and he could start for a year while Russell learns!
They need a QB in Detroit to start grooming for the future with these young wr's and rb's. You try to sure up the OL and secondary in the draft or through free agency this year and next.
I don't think you can pick a QB over those guys, the qb's aren't good enough. Peterson and Johnson are too good to pass up. I think Kitna is fine. Not a big Quinn fan.
