        Six-Pack for Friday

-- Washington lost to Stanford when Appleby intentionally fouled a Cardinal player in last 0:30, thinking Huskies were down a point, when game was actually tied.

-- Washington State won by 17 at Cal; pencil them in for a spot in Field of 65 in March- Coogs are 15-2.

-- You watch St John's play, and wonder if they'll ever be good again; how can a team in Queens be this bad? There are players everywhere, all around them in NYC.

-- Hofstra finished great week by winning at Drexel 55-53 in OT Thursday night; they beat Old Dominion Monday.

-- UL-Monroe moved to 5-1 in its first Sun Belt season, as they held off New Orleans, 68-66. UNO is 4-2 in Sun Belt.

-- Samford lost for first time in seven OVC games, losing at Tennessee State, 59-41.

Friday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but.........

          13) I heard David Beckham called a cultural icon today; if you gave me $1,000, couldn't pick him out of a lineup. I must be in a different culture.

          12) They paid the guy $250M to play soccer in this country? Why? Or is the deal more for movies and stuff like that?

          11) A horse owned by Jake Delhomme and trained by Jake's dad ran in the 8th race at Fairgrounds Thursday; going off at 22-1, Paw Prints beat only three horses.

          10) Bad Beat Dept: Central Florida (+8.5) didn't cover at UAB Wednesday, losing by 10 points in overtime. Ugh.

          9) Small things win games. Tulane lost in OT Wednesday at Rice; they were 10-25 from foul line. Tennessee lost by point at Vanderbilt; they were 6-15 from the charity stripe.

          8) Duke freshman Jon Scheyer scored 21 points in 1:15 as a high school senior last year, in game his team lost.

          7) Ohio State lost its last eight bowl games vs SEC teams.

          6) Washington and Washington State are both ranked in the Top 25 in college hoop, for first time since 1949.

          5) 39 guys vote for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There are approximately 540 people voting for baseball's Hall of Fame.

          4) Wichita State is 1-4 in Missouri Valley, tied for 8th, after an amazing pre-conference performance. Very hard to explain.

          3) There have been fifteen NBA teams that won 15 or more in a row during regular season, with Suns doing it this season. Eight of those teams won the NBA title that season.

          2) PGA Tour pro Parker McLachlin is a dead ringer for Danny Noonan in Caddyshack.

          1) Time for Michelle Wie's people to stop embarrassing her; she shot 78 Thursday, and has no chance to compete, at this stage of her career, against the best players in world. To be truthful, most of the best players aren't even in Hawai'i.
