  • Rex Grossman = Moron!

I guess this is his thank you to his head coach for backing his lame ass all year...what a joke....

    Updated: Jan. 4, 2007, 2:22 PM ET
Grossman says preparation was lacking against Pack.

Bears quarterback Rex Grossman says he learned an important lesson by not giving it "100 percent" while preparing for Chicago's regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers last Sunday.

    The lesson?

"In this league, especially at this position, you have to bring it every single week, no matter what," Grossman told the Chicago Sun-Times for Thursday's editions. "And the situation was I felt like I was going to play about a half, and it was the last game, it was New Year's Eve -- there were so many other factors that brought my focus away from what is actually important, and that's something that I am never going to do again.

"There is too much I am responsible for to not give it 100 percent during the week and just the full attention," Grossman said. "It's another lesson."

In the grand scheme of things, the game meant little -- at least to the Bears, who'd already clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

Grossman, whose inconsistent play during a 13-3 season has fueled talk that Brian Griese should be taking more snaps, delivered a dreadful performance. He was 2-for-12 passing for 33 yards with three interceptions -- two returned for touchdowns -- and a lost fumble in the 26-7 defeat.

"The next couple of days, I may think about it more," Grossman told the Sun-Times. "But there's going to come a time where I am going to completely forget about it and move on. It was a meaningless game. I won't dwell on it too much. I definitely want to learn from it.

"You're going to see a focused and intense quarterback."

Offensive coordinator Ron Turner said the team's preparation -- not just Grossman's -- showed against the Packers.

"[Grossman's] still a young player," Turner told the newspaper, "and he's still learning the intensity and the preparation and everything that goes along with it and that you have to have that every week. But he wasn't the only one who didn't play well."

It takes a good man to publicly state he underestimated the importance of giving it all each week.........took a lots of guts to say he got lazy, but he learned from it....Nothing Moronic about that IMO.......he learned a lesson, and sometimes, the hard way is the best way....kapt

We agree to disagree...if that's the case, then apologize in a team meeting, or when the offense meets, or stop into the defense meetngs...but don't stand at the podium and announce to all that you didn't take your job seriously because you thought you were only going to lay a half and it was New Year's Eve...especially when your coach has stuck his neck out for you all year....

I agree, we disagree, but agree on the reasons for disagreeing, therefore in actuality we agree, so I'm not disagreeing with your point, and agreeing with his bad choice of where to announce.....It's nice to disagree with someone who clarifys the disagreement, so we can ultimately agree....Do you agree.....I do.......kapt

IMO the guy is a moron not for what he said, but what he did. Isnt he about the last guy who should be giving less than 100% right about now considering all of the heat he was getting before the Green Bay game??

Maybe he wasn't giving 100% when the Bears were playing Arizona and Miami. Seems like when teams don't look good on paper the Bears don't bring their A game, same can be said for the Tampa Bay game as well. The Bears will be fine, I have a feeling they will be playing Dallas next week.

                          Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

                              Hi 3J

When Rex got replaced by Griese during the game, Griese did not fare any better...GB simply outplayed them....I`m glad Grossman is owning up to his mistakes, and isn`t one of those media-created prima -donna QB`s, as in 4 or 5 other teams I can mention, of which come playoff time are nowhere to be found...Bears are most certainly not a one-dimensional team here.. If Grossman does what he says,we can expect them to be playing San Diego ( i would think) in the SB...Gl today buddy..
