What matters is what you do late in the season. All teams improve as the year goes on if they are well-coached. Ga Tech lost to West Virginia (Big East co-champ) by three. Lost to ACC Champ Wake by three. Lost to GA by three. Beat hell out of Auburn, a team that beat Florida by 10. Beat a very good Va Tech team after being down by 18. Mediocre? Hardly. Top 15 team IMO. So what if they lost to Vandy (a team that played Michigan very tight) and Kentucky. Lost both because they didn't have their kicker!! Otherwise 11-2. Tenn got 51, 21 of which were from turnovers inside the GA 10 yard line. Otherwise they played Tenn straight up. Lost to Florida by 7 (again, a turnover that UF converted into 7 inside the GA 15).

A team with a lot of youth and inexperience earlier. I say they are a Top 5 team in the SEC today.

All I see there is a bunch of excuses and coulda shoulda wouldas. Points that come from turnovers still count as points. Bad teams make turnovers. Plus, their comeback against VT was pretty much all turnover related. So you give Geo credit for that, but then dismiss turnovers when it works against them.

The facts are they were 4-4 in their conference and beat only one team in the top 25 all year. And after Auburn and GT, not sure if any of the others even in the top 40 or 50.

Getting back in on this late, but hoopster, there's no way TENN should even be in contention for that third spot. How can you say that the third spot should be between Tenn and Auburn when Arkansas beat BOTH teams straight up?

My concern is a useless thread initiating opinions, that one knows (or should have enough sense to know), is gonna generate ill feelings....

THe point isn't whether arkansas was "bad." The point was that TENN was not in the top 3 in the SEC. No matter waht you say, they just weren't in the top 3.


As for your overall argument about the SEC, I'm not involved in that. All I stated is that TENN is not the 3rd best team in the SEC. Heck, they aren't even the 4th. UF, LSU, Ark, and AU ALL have better claims with regards to who's the better team.
