                  Mississippi State at Miami (FL)
After dropping back-to-back games to Winthrop and Clemson, the Bulldogs have won three straight over Charlotte (78-69), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (96-72) and South Alabama (84-46). Rick Stansbury has been getting strong play out of Jamont Gordon, who came up just a rebound short of his third triple-double of the season against South Alabama. The Hurricanes have won two straight with a win over Georgia Tech, but prior to that had lost three of four, including losses against lower-rated Cleveland State and Buffalo. Inconsistency could catch the 'Canes here and allow the hot Bulldogs to come away with the upset according to Dunkel, which has Mississippi State favored by 1. Dunkel Pick: Mississippi State (+2). Here are all of today's games.

The Spurs have lost back-to-back games only once this season and look to avoid that pitfall tonight against the Clippers, a team they beat by 29 (111-82) on Friday. Overall San Antonio owns a 30-4 record against Los Angeles since 1997. The Spurs look like a good pick to cover the Vegas line (-2 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has San Antonio favored by 5 1/2. Carolina at Colorado
Carolina has dropped three straight on its western road trip, but did show some offensive spark in its last game with 39 shots and three goals in a 4-3 overtime loss to Vancouver. The Avalanche haven't been much better as they've dropped three of their last four overall and are just 6-7-1 at home. The Hurricanes look like a good pick with the goal line in this one according to Dunkel, which has Colorado favored straight up by just 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Carolina (+1 1/2). Here are all of today's games.

                        Six-Pack for Monday

                        The Vince Young edition

-- Young's 39-yard TD run in OT is the low point for Texan franchise that hasn't had many high points. He looked like Michael Vick with a fullback's body.
-- I mean, not only did Titans bolt Houston for Tennessee, they drafted Young, a Houston native, and now he looks like he will be a big star for years to come.
-- When I was in Houston last April, the week before NFL Draft, I asked every Houston resident I met who Texans should draft; 17 of 19 said Young, two said Reggie Bush.
-- Young is now 6-4 as starter, and after 0-5 start, Titans are 6-7 and would be a playoff team if they were in the NFC.
-- Jerry Jones had his eye on Jeff Fisher as replacement for Parcells, should Tuna decide to retire, but now I doubt the Titans are letting their free agent coach go anywhere.
-- So Houston might someday be known as the city whose teams passed on both Michael Jordan, Vince Young. Ugh.

Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up a busy sports weekend

                          13) Jacksonville scored 27 points in 9:38 span of second and third quarters to hand Colts their third loss in four games.

                          12) Not only did Jaguars run for unheard-of 375 yards, they ran opening kick of second half back for TD, blocked punt as they moved back into a playoff spot, if season ended now.

                          11) There were five 7-5 teams tied for two Wild Card spots; three of the five teams lost, leaving Jags, Bengals at 8-5. Next week's Monday night game is good one-- Bengals at Colts.

                          10) Then there are the Saints, a well-oiled offensive machine if I've ever seen one. Drew Brees is like a great point guard; he distributes ball all over to field, to whomever is open.

                          9) All of which makes Dallas at Atlanta Saturday night a huge game, and it is only on the NFL Network, which will help bars that show the games, but aggravate a lot of people.

                          8) Atlanta's receivers aren't good at catching thrown footballs

                          7) And when Ashley Lelie made couple of difficult catches to finally do his job, he acted like he was Jerry Rice, strutting on the field. Hey, act like you've made a tough catch before. The Falcon WRs are very immature and don't help their QB much.

                          6) Monday night losers are now 3-11 in their next game, and Monday night winners are 9-4.

                          5) Jim Nantz has the best job in America: he did basketball at Anaheim Saturday (Texas A&M-UCLA) then did football in San Diego (Chargers-Broncos) Sunday. Thats a good job.

                          4) There were no AFC-NFC games this week, for the first time since Week 2. AFC teams have been dominating the series.

                          3) Carolina had ball for 14 drives Sunday, but started 10 times at least 80 yards from Giant end zone, which is why their 463 total yards is little misleading-- they were working on longer field than Giants the whole game.

                          2) Detroit had six turnovers Sunday, as mystified fans have to be asking themselves how in God's name Matt Millen is still employed by the Lions. 24 of Minnesota's 30 points came on drives that started in Detroit territory.

                          1) Congrats to Mr Tomlinson on setting the TD record. Now I can see why Eli Manning didn't want to play for the Chargers actually, I don't see it at all. He seems even dumber now; who wouldn't want to live, work and play in San Diego?.

How about a Chargers-Saints Super Bowl?
