Chicago is an enigma, winning despite an offense that turned ball over 24 times in last seven games, and that's with two turnover-free games in there (they won 41-10/10-0 in games without turnover). Monday Night Football - COMMENTS/TRENDS

Chicago Bears vs. St. Louis Rams
- The Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Rams will both be trying to pick up a win on Monday when they battle at Edward Jones Dome.

Oddsmakers currently have the Bears listed as 7-point favorites versus the Rams, while the game's total is sitting at 41½.

Chicago took advantage of five Minnesota turnovers, overcoming five of their own in a 23-13 win last week, covering the 9-point home spread. The 36 points scored were OVER the posted total of 34.5.

Rex Grossman had a tough day, tossing for 34 yards and three picks, while Cedric Benson rushed for 60 yards and a major for the Bears.

Marc Bulger was picked off three times for St. Louis in a 34-20 loss to Arizona last weekend, falling as 6.5-point home favorites. The 54 points scored were OVER the posted total of 46.

Bulger threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns, and Torry Holt had 115 receiving yards and a major for the Rams.

Monday Night Football - NOTES

Rex Grossman seems to be getting worse every week, yet the Chicago Bears are still sitting comfortably atop both the NFC North division and the conference standings. But will the Bears stick with their struggling starting quarterback and hope he can turn it around, or is the team going to make a change at the QB position in the coming weeks?

Well, if Grossman repeats his Week 13 performance against the Minnesota Vikings in their game against the St. Louis Rams on Monday night, the team might be forced to shift him to clipboard duties. Grossman was brutal against the Vikings last week, completing just 6-of-19 pass attempts for 34 yards and getting intercepted three times.

So how did Chicago pick up a 23-13 victory in that contest? As always, their defense did most of the work, intercepting Vikings QB Brad Johnson four times (and running one of them back for a touchdown), and also scoring a safety in the fourth quarter. Chicago also got a touchdown off a 45-yard punt return by Devin Hester, so the special teams chipped in as well. The offense could only contribute with a TD run by Cedric Benson.

Obviously the Bears receivers didn't have good numbers in their win over Minnesota - Bernard Berrian led the way with 21 yards off four catches. Chicago's running game, though, wasn't anything special either - Benson had 60 yards off nine carries, while Thomas Jones ran for 32 yards on 12 carries. Still, the Bears improved to 10-2 in 2006.

And with the NFC North division title in hand, all Chicago has left to play for in the regular season is the top mark in the conference. The Bears have been good to their supporters as well this year - they're 9-3 against-the-spread. On the road Chicago is 4-2 ATS, while they're 7-3 ATS as the favorite. As well, the Bears are 8-3-1 OVER/UNDER.

To improve on those ATS marks they'll have to cover the 6-point spread on the road against the Rams on Monday (oddsmakers have the game's total at 40.5 points). St. Louis is 5-7 straight-up through 12 games, but they're 6-6 ATS. The Rams are also 3-3 ATS at home, 4-2 ATS as the underdog team, and 5-7 on the OVER/UNDER this year.

The Rams crippled their playoff chances last week by losing 34-20 at home to the Arizona Cardinals. Marc Bulger went 27-of-45 for 314 yards passing and two touchdowns in that loss, but he was intercepted three times. Steven Jackson ran for 96 yards on 21 carries, while Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce each had TD catches (and Holt led the team with 115 yards receiving). Marcel Shipp ran for three TDs for the Cardinals.

St. Louis is now well back of the rival Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West division, so their only chance of making the playoffs is as a Wild Card team - and that's looking like a big stretch right now as well. If the Rams get beaten by the favored Bears on Monday night, they can pretty much pack it in for the season and starting planning for next year.

The last time these two teams met was way back in November 2003, with the Rams squeaking out a 23-21 road victory. St. Louis had been favored by 6 points in that game, and failed to cover the spread, while the combined score went OVER the day's posted total (42.5). In fact, St. Louis has won each of their last four games with Chicago.
