I think Michigan would have beat OSU in a rematch...too tough to beat same team twice in the same season. A playoff with the top 8 BCS teams might solve the whole debate.

#1 vs #4
#2 vs #3

I'm not suggesting it. I think its a fact. In fact, I think characterizing it as mediocre is giving it the benefit of the doubt. There are only two teams in the entire conference that we know are worth a shit (Ohio St and Michigan.) Sure, Wisky is 11-1 but they lost to the only decent team they played (Michigan), they didnt play Ohio St and their non-conference schedule was a joke. Penn St? Purdue? Gimme a break.WE SPEAK YOUR NAMES

Saying the Big Ten is mediocre if you take out Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan is like saying the Spurs aren't any good if you take out Duncan, Ginnobli and Parker.
You can't take them out. They're part of the league and the only knock is that Wisconsin and Ohio State didn't have to play each other. You want weak conferences this year??? How about the ACC and Big 12?
I'd rate 'em:
1. SEC
2. Big 10
3. Pac 10
4. Big East (laugh if you want; I stand by it)
5. Big 12
6. ACC
7. Mountain West
8. WAC
9. C-USA
10. Mid-American (was way down this year)
11. Sun Belt

One other thing.
The only thing people say all the time that they are more wrong about than:
"It's hard to beat a team twice in the same year"
is:
"It's hard to beat a team three times in the same year."
There is no basis for this in any sport. In fact, as Frank points out, it's the opposite.

I guess what would truly be fair is if Michigan played Florida for the right to play Ohio State.....I say that jokingly
Would anyone be shocked if Florida beats Ohio State and then played Michigan a week later and lost? ANYONE?
The system is utter garbage just like when an undefeated Auburn got jobbed a few years back
And Griffey......Tressel is 4-1 v Michigan unless they faced off before the Michigan Ohio State games.....4-1 is not good but 6-1 is a stretching it just a bit

I think you measure a conference by its strength from top to bottom. Yes, the Big 10 has two excellent teams, but those teams aren't challenged week in and week out like they are in the SEC. Michigan ran through an easy Big 10 schedule, with their only impressive non-confernce win to N.D. Ohio St beats what turns out to be a good, but not great, Texas team with the QB making his second start.
Florida has wins against Tenn, LSU, Ark, Fla. St, Bama. Its not even close.
USC will show that the Pac-10 is a much better conference than the Big-10 in the Rose Bowl.
All that being said, this type of debate is what makes college football the shit.WE SPEAK YOUR NAMES
