some people just don't care about life, and will do anything, this is very sad for someone to lose his life over nothing. life is short enough without someone taking it away from you.

When those officers arrived they found the victim, Bryan Pata, deceased," Rutland said. "We cannot release any more information -- this is a sensitive, real-time active investigation."

Pata suffered multiple gunshots, according to Rutland. At least one shot was to the head.

Asked if there is a suspect, Rutland said, "I can't comment on who we believe is involved."

The investigation into Pata's murder is ongoing, and Rutland said the investigation will continue all evening.

The University of Miami athletic department released the following statement at approximately 11 p.m. (EST).

What are the chances this has anything to do with the brawl?

it doesnt sound like a random drive by shooting to me.

Some are saying that he had an argument with someone at a club last week and this guy came back for retaliation. Man, whatever happened to just fighting with your fists?

10dime, from what I understand, it was not a driveby. Evidently, this was at close range.

Fighting With Fist Has Gone Out Of Style, My Car Was Almost Hit, I Blew The Horn To Let This Person Know He Was Over The Line, I Was Stopped At A Light, He Had Turned Arond And Came After Me, I Just Happened To Look In He Mirror, He Had A Baseball Bat He Busted My Tail Light And Was Comming After Me, I Was Lucky I Had My Pistol With Me, That Stopped Him, And I Held Him There Until The Police Came And Picked Him Up, I Believe He Would Have Killed Me If I Had Not Had The Gun With Me, It's A Sad World We Live In Today.

This thread is a waste of space. The death of any human is tragic. We have Americans dying on our streets every day. Why create a thread and debate about where he went to school, how he died etc? This tragedy is no different than the dozens that occur each and every day. The other deceased don't get the same media coverage. This kid is no different than the others.

Frank its the fact like if you were a huge football fan or huge UM fan for that matter its more than just a normal shooting in the hood. You watch this team day in and day out, especially huge UM fan and im sure TMAC knows what im taking about. When a player of your fav. team as a die hard fan it almost knocks your breath away, like the feeling as if someone in your family or friends have passed away.

Thats the best I can describe it as, I am not a UM fan but have seen an FSU player shot on TV once and it hurt.

                              God Bless

I disagree! Sport fans should keep a better perspective on the realities of life. Athletes for the teams we root are strangers. Why should a Miami U football player receive more attention than others simply because he plays for a college football team? Bryan Pata is another murder victim like many others that will occur today.
