Detroit at St. Louis

It's not so much that Detroit is down 3-1 in the series, but it's the way they've gotten there. Errors by a young pitching staff at critical times have resulted in a series that was leaning Detroit's way at the start but now looks to be going all St. Louis' way. With their backs to the wall, Vegas thinks Detroit will respond and has installed them as the favorite tonight. But looking at the postseason ERAs of tonight's starters -- Justin Verlander (7.47)) and Jeff Weaver (2.91) -- that's a tough call to make. With Detroit's bullpen woes also dragging the team down, the Cardinals look like a solid underdog play in this one according to Dunkel, which has St. Louis favored straight up by 1 1/2. Washington at Vancouver
The Caps are playing with some youthful energy thanks to the contributions of Alex Ovechkin (5 goals) and Alexander Semin (at least one point in all 8 games). The two second-year stars have sparked Washington to a solid 3-2-3 start, including a 5-3 win over Colorado Wednesday that opened a four-game road trip. The Caps also played Minnesota and Atlanta to a draw on the road before losing in OT making it three solid road efforts in a row for Washington. This team looks to be dangerous right now even away from home and should take advantage of the goal line tonight in Vancouver according to Dunkel, which has Washington favored straight up by 1/2 a goal.
