Damn Kapt....You are good...You should be in the booth!!

I think that gives new meaning to the term "can of corn" in baseball

I heard today that if the opposing manager doesn't go to the ump, the ump cannot take it upon himself to do anything about it.
I saw pics of him in a game on July 20th against the Chisox and in the ALCS against the A's with the same smudge on his pitching hand.
I personaly feel he cheated. To me it was pine tar. If you wash your hands the color might come off but the sticky residue is still there. I think baseball is worried about it's reputation after the whole steroid thing, and they are looking to sweep this under the rug. How does he all of a sudden become so dominant at the age of 41??
Between steroids and this I have lost a lot of respect for my once favorite sport.

How does pine tar help a pitcher, and wouldnt that come off on the ball. Cause every time the ball goes into the dirt the ump takes looks at it and either gives it back to the catcher or issues a new one. Would think that the ump would feel the sticky on it

blatantly apparent it was pine tar-----you saw that and determined that from your living room, and they have professional Umpires just inches away.......maybe you can call the next game from your living room, using your remote........geez
Well if he had it on his hands in the ALDS and the ALCS and now the World Series, in the same spot, by the way, I tend to think it is more than just dirt. It was more yellow in color, with a tint of brown and it had the appearance of pine tar. Do I know for sure? Hell no. But saying it was just dirt is embarassing. At first Rogers said the umpires told him not to warm up so fast in between innings, and said nothing was said about anything that was on his hand. Then he changed his story in his postgame interview. I'm just saying MLB messed this up. He should have been ejected and suspended. I don't recall seeing any umpires actually looking at his hand and doing a test to determine what the substance actually was. As for calling the game from my living room, I probably could do a better job!!!

kinda hard to tell the viscity and content of that shit from my living room.........

but I say it was apparently "Prune Juice" induced by the color

and yes I saw that from my living room thousands of miles away----blatantly obvious it was "Prune Juice" induced and possibly "Olive Oil" enhanced ....kapt

            damn you're good

PS---on one of those pitches, I could have swore I saw something fall off between Home Plate and the Pitchers mound on a 93 MPH fast ball, and I swar I saw a fragment of yellow, obviously a piece of "Corn"........from my living room no less, and the damn Umpire just inches away missed it.......geez---waht a "FIX"", and just because the mgrs are friends..........

had there been a foreign/ilegal substance, they would have re acted in that manner.........you think the Professional Umps give a damn who's managing and who is friends or not......

              give me a break...kapt

Kapt. - I played ball my whole life and know what pine tar looks like. I understand that I was looking at it on TV but with the cameras zoomed in I feel I got as good a look at it as the umpire. I never saw the umpire grab his hand and examine it. They knew what it was and wanted to avoid more controversy in the sport so they told him to wash his hands(or did they). Maybe the umps didn't say anything and Rogers himself or his teammates wised up and told him to wash his hands. Bottom line: this guy Rogers is a jerk and has probably cheated many times in his career. He tried to fight the father of a kid who wanted his autograph after a game a week before the playoffs started!!!

GREAT POINT AND YES now that they have more pictures of him having this substance on his hand in different games yes we ALLLLLL know now that it was not dirt, at first when this came out i gave him the benefit of doubt, but now with the other evidence in different games it really has me bothered,
but what gets me why didnt nobody in those other games that they have on tape and clearly see he had something on his hand say anything this really has me wondering and saying HMMMMMMMMM THERE IS SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON HERE COME ON//////

Baseball like it's cheaters. They just don't like them getting caught. I really don't care too much anymore about any pro athletes. I think they all are/were probably dirty, at one time or another and with the money at stake, I can't blame them. Sad indeed.

I have no opinion on this issue and not to beat a dead horse but if anyone wants to hear a comical interview, go to WFAN and listen to Mike and the Mad Dog interview Steve Palermo, Head of all Umpires. This guy is a clown.... They asked him how can a guy have 'dirt' on the same spot of his hand for 9 or 10 starts this year, and he comes up with 'ballplayers are very superstitious'...then they ask him why, if it was dirt, why he would wipe it off before the Umps ask him, and he comes up that Rogers pitched with Gaylord Perry and probably didn't want to go through the in game inquisition that he used to...absolutely comical....

maybe Tigers should practice throwing and catching the ball in offseason.
How many more titles will the Yankees try to buy it never ends.
