              Dunkel Index - Hockey

              Dunkel Index - NHL

              FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13

Thrashers' goalie Kari Lehtonen is off to a hot start (3-0-1, 0.74 GAA and two shutouts). The defending champion Hurricanes are not (0-3-1, 18 goals allowed against 7 scored). But Carolina had success against Lehtonen last season, beating him in three of his four starts against the club. That could be what the champs need to jump start the season. The Hurricanes are certainly worth a look as the underdog in this one according to Dunkel, which has Carolina favored straight up by 1/2 a goal. Dunkel Pick: Carolina (+1 1/2)
