Sheffield and Mussina have club options that one would think would not get picked up...I think Wright and Pavano have one more year each. But dropping Moose and Sheff is huge.

They might not be able move him. However, they should do everything possible to trade him. He's no a good fit for NY.

Do you think they will pay him the $16 million option or negotiate a 2 - 3 yr deal for say $36 million?

Mussina has a club option of 17 million for next year, buyout of 1.5 million, I'm pretty sure they'll buyout, and they'll probably try and resign him, and I think that's a good idea, because he's proved he can handle New York. I'm not sure of the others contacts, but I remember reading that Wright and Pavano were gone, so I'm assuming they have a club option. Like I said before, in my opinion, they were one starter away, if Mussina could have gone game 3 and Randy game 4 I think they would've won. The bullpen isn't great, but Procter looks decent, Farnsworth and Rivera are solid, they could probably use one more really good bullpen pitcher.

I think the Yankees would be dumb to trade for Santana, I think it's pretty obvious he would fail in New York. I think Weaver would succeed, but the Angels would be the dumbest team on the planet to trade Weaver.

THE PROBLEM WITH MUSSINA IS HE ALWAYS HAS A GOOD FIRST 1/2 THEN FIZZLES OUT THE 2ND. BUT THERE MIGHT NOT BE TOO MUCH OUT THERE SO IT WOULD BE WISE TO HANG ON TO HIM. AFTER ALL HE IS BETTER THAN WRIGHT. ANOTHER THING THEY SHOULD BE THINK ABOUT IS GETTING SOMEBODY READY TO TAKE MO'S PLACE IN THE FUTURE AFTER ALL HE IS NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER.

Mike Mussina has all the tools to be great and has played on great teams, but the fact he has never won 20 games says something about him...I am not sure what, maybe it is his make-up or something but how has he NEVER won 20 games?

Tin, you should change your avatar to Cashman and keep the slogan.

Running out of teams that will pay for this overpriced, overrated American league product.
How many more titles will the Yankees try to buy it never ends.

They Won't Fire Cashman Yet He Has A Lot Of Work Ahead Of Him And I Don't Think He Makes All These Stupid Deals I Think It Is The Boss

I know they won't but he is not taking a big enough hit for this. I think George only has a say in the 'bigger' moves...but to spend $200 million and have to rely on Jaret Wright in a clinching game? Except for Mo, the bullpen is a mess year after year? Pitching has been a problem for them and other than Wang, who has Cashman given to Torre- Pavano? Wright? Farnsworthless? Dotel? Liddle?

Everyone beats up Theo for not doing anything at the deadline...Cashman goes out and gets another bat that they did not need and a fifth starter?

While the Yankees won those World Series in the late 90's under his watch, those were all Stick Micheal teams...he put those teams together...Cashman has done what?
