I think santana and figgins is a lot to give up for arod... pitching is much more valuable even though they do need someone to protect Vlad in that lineup...
I know this might not be a popular choice but what about San Fransisco... Shea Hillenbrand and Jason Schmidt? Or Shea and Noah Lowry?? Lowry does have an upside to the young lefty arm he possesses..
Maybe even Milwaukee for Sheets/Capuano and Bill Hall...
Detroit could give up Inge and one young stud pitcher like Maroth or Bonderman or someone...
What about the White Sux for Crede and Garland/Garcia...
or to Cincinnatti for Aurilia(sign and trade), Arroyo(proven he can play in NY in a big game), and a minor leaguer or Rheal Cormeir to try and bolster up the pen a little...
Either way someone is going to get short ended... either the Yanks who dont think they get enough in return... or the team they trade him to in that they are giving up too much... the yankees will end up paying part of that salary and he will put fans in the seats for other smaller market teams like Milwaukee and Cincy... or be the perfect fit behind Bonds in San Fransisco...
The Yankees are only paying half of ARod's salary right now, so whoever gets him only pays about 10 million a year. I hope if he does get traded it's to a team that needs a SS, that's were his true value lies. I think the Astros should get him to play SS, they'd probably have to give up Oswalt, which for whatever reason they were willing to do at the trade deadline.

The Yankees are actually paying $16 million...$10 million would make him a HUGE bargain but I don't think that is accurate.
A Rod does have a no trade clause and will only go somewhere where he has a chance to win to wipe the 'stain' of his time in NY away. So while teams like Milwaukee and others sound good, it will have to be to somewhat of a contender or possibly Florida, as he has roots in Miami.
I think LAA makes the most sense. Ervin Santana and minor leaguers (maybe once heralded Dallas McPherson and low A pitching).
Chicago Whitesox makes a little sense, but hitting is not what kept them out of the playoffs this year.
SD for a hurt Peavy and aging Giles I can see.
SF makes sense, they need a new marquee to the organization, but he would most likely reject a trade there as they are rebuilding.
Florida for Willis and low A ball pitching, or maybe SS Ramirez and Olsen or something like that, to send ARod home. They would like to sell tickets with him and Cabrera as the center pieces.
