Kapt, I agree with you in that he goes nowhere, but I don't think that is going to be because the Yankees didn't try. It is almost impossible to get equal value with a talent like this. He needs out of NY as much as the NYY need to get rid of him.

Plus, if I were a Yankee fan, do you want Brian Cashman and the crack Baseball Committe evaluating pitching? What pitcher, star or not, have they brought in recently (recently being 3 or 4 years) via trade, draft or free agency, reliever or starter, that has been worth their investment, othe than MAYBE Scott Proctor? And if you can think of one, I will name 5 for every one that has been a bust.

Good call Kapt. Believe it or not, I think he really likes being in New York and realizes how quick things can turn around for him there. The Yankees have a few contracts coming off the books, Mussina, Sheffield, Wright, and Pavano, they could sign a couple pitchers, maybe Zito and someone else, and still be a great team.

Agree Kapt, but I don't think it will be from lack of trying, they will be made offers.

The question Bry asked was his worth

I agree that he does not go... but it makes more sense for the Yankees if he does leave... They can get more pieces to the puzzle by trading him rather than keeping him...

Sheffield and Wright are the ones who truly need out... Sheffield can not play first base and is a liability there for as much as he provides with his bat... Wright had one reviving year with Leo Mazzone and needs to be paired in a small market with him again to be successful(maybe also it was the national league)...

i totally disagree. NYY is a aging team. no farm system. pissada is old,MO is old and is about outta gas. pitching is horrid. all they have is Cano/jeter and Wang. That isnt gonna cut it. A rod will be gone. i wish he was gonna stay. being a sox fan i'd love to continue to watch him choke.

I think Shields or Donnelly would have to go too.

True, they are aging, but they're not ready for a complete overhaul. Anybody can win in a 5 game series, they still had the best record in baseball. IMO they were one pitcher away from winning that series and possibly the World Series. I think catcher is an area they need to address. They don't need to get young over night, and they don't want to if they want to compete next year. This same team will have the best record again next year. They need to buy out Mussina's contract for 1 mill, let Sheffield, Wright and Pavano go and sign two starters and a some relief help.

I think the Fans in NY have stamped A-Rod's fate. He has to go as it was becoming too much of a distraction. He and the Yankees both need a change (IMO). They still have a ton of lumber w/out A-rod and he could bring alot of what they lack ... PITCHING!
