I won last night with another dog as the Indians blew out the White Sox.
1* Padres +156
Six losses in a row with last night's debacle. Unlike most other historic collapses, the Cardinals are doing this all on their own. Usually, a second place team gets hot and catches the team with the big lead but Houston and Cincy aren't really moving up so much as St. Louis is imploding. The overall record masks the fact that the Cards are a lousy team. They are 22-33 their last 55! That's just .400 ball for more than one-third of a season. Yet, they are a very fat price tonight against a hot team that is looking to nail down a playoff berth. Williams has been outstanding for the Padres with SD 15-8 in his starts and an off-the-charts ROI of +715. He has given up only two earned runs in his last 17 2/3 innings. There's more: San Diego has won 10 of 13 and has an outstanding 41-34 record on the road. Carpenter may be the NL Cy Young winner but he was hammered in his last start. Tremendous value here going against a team that may be in the middle of an epic cave-in.
As always for me, list both pitchers.
