As a Sox fan at this point, I feel all things considered, the White Sox are probably the most likely and only team to offer a legitmate challenge to the Yanks in their quest for a WS.

Yanks offensively look unstoppable...but in a short series, against good starting pitching...I think it could be like last year for them, they could get shut down. Their pitching was not great in the 5 games...it was good but they did give up 5 runs a game.
The one thing that concerns me about them, and I posted this before the Sox series, is their patience at the plate. Even a starter who may be having a good game against them will be hard pressed to go 7 innings. I heard a stat, and I may be off a bit, but in this series, Damon and Abreu saw something like 190 pitches...it was like 5 per plate appearance.Three Jack's Record http://www.bettorschat.com/forums/sh...10#post1323910

Originally posted by Three JackI hate when I agree with people, as it makes it no fun, but I agree with you Savage. Yankees look very dominant right now, but like I said when the Sox won 12 straight and the Mets won 8, you aren't as good as you think you are when you are hot and you aren't as bad as you look like you are when you are cold.

Riight now Seattle is in worse straits than the Red Sox, have lost 11 in a row and worse 20 in a row to teams in their divison;it is also said Hargrove might be fired soon.
I don't think in view of above the Mariners players are saying "Wow-here come the Yanks;they just swept the Red Sox. Lets go out and destroy them." They might be very demoralized, as the season has gone down the drain of late.
I am not saying I would play Yanks either, but they must be feeling confident as hell now;if they whipped the Mariners, 14-2, I would be actually less surprised than if Mariners say won 5-2.Last edited by savage1; 08-21-2006, 07:02 PM.

My God-Red sox could not beat them today with half of Yanks team out with a crap pitcher going.
Tomorrow those who didn't play today for Yanks will be rested and other than time difference, the team should be ready to play(in theory anyways).
