Rook, would you agree that the Yankees as a team, outside of A-Job and RJ, are a tough team to hate in that they play hard and play right...but their fans make it extremely easy?

Sorta like the team of the late 90's...but those teams did not have nearly as many high priced players as this one.

I respect the HELL, I mean HELL out of Joe Torre, Jeter, Bernie Williams and Brian Cashman. Joe Torre to me is one of the best managers in the history of the game not simply for the wins and losses but because of the amount of pressure he's under 24/7 and how he handles it.

I am a closet Red Sox fan, so hating the Yankees is pretty simple there. LOL

I'll give Tmac shit about his love affair with those fags, but in the end, I'll always respect em until they give me a reason not to.

If every child could grow up and idolize one player, and they choose D. Jeter....I would be very pleased.

* my complaint is not their offseason acquisitions at all....I mean saenez was 7-1 last year...who knew he would suck???

the problem is that at the trade deadline they could not afford the same deals the yanks do....nobody can as NY is a salary dumping ground and they will pay it since they have the huge TV contract......You call that great management...i do not.....Not until it translates to wins.....And it has not so far in the last 6 years......But it will continue and nobody can stop it.......So your continued posts about the lack of moves should be judged on a realistic sliding scale since the pocketbooks and competitive landscape are seriosuly tilted.....

It would be like Tyson bragging about a middleweight not being able to do anything against him......I know I know the rules are the rules and the yanks follow them....granted...but we are all adults and see what happens at the deadline.....

Let's not be so quick to nominate Cashman for Baseball Exec of the Year because of Abreu. A couple of observations- as Minaya AND Theo have both said, the market for Abreu DISAPPEARED when the Yankees offered to pay his entire 2007 salary. They were the only team that could afford to take the salary on and Cashman got the job done. Good for him, but let's not make him out to be the GM of the Year...this deal was a result of The Boss' deep pockets.

Also, while he is ripping the ball, let's keep in mind he has been ripping singles and doubles. Are you paying this guy $16 million to bat .330 with 12 HR's and 90 RBI's? Right now it works because EVERYONE is ripping the cover off the ball. Let's wait until the hear tof the order slumps and he is still getting on base but not hitting bombs. Remember, he has 9 0r 10 home runs since the 2005 All-Star break.....
