Six-Pack for Sunday
-- Wasn't hard to read between lines in Troy Aikman's Hall of Fame speech Saturday; he didn't seem to like playing for Jimmy Johnson too much, instead heaping praise on Norv Turner. Aikman is the next big star in NFL broadcasting; I am guessing he'll replace John Maddon on Sunday night games, when the time comes in a few years.
-- The NFL Network bent over backwards not to show the ceremony's MC, Chris Berman; I only saw him once all day, although you could hear his voice a lot in background.
-- The six presenters are supposed to submit their speech in advance for approval; five of the six presenters did. Guess which one (think black shirt, silver tie) didn't?
-- It was oddly refreshing to hear Warren Moon thanking his agent and presenter, Leigh Steinberg, for making him millions of dollars. They went to the same high school, out in LA, by the way.
-- After seeing Josh Paul, Greg Norton steal bases easily against Javy Lopez Saturday, I'm saying that Beantown has itself some defensive issues until Varitek comes back.
-- This just in: Rocco Baldelli is hurt again. When this guy becomes a free agent, you know he's going to sign up with either Bronx or Beantown, and immediately become Ripken-like, play 160 games, and hit .330. You can just feel it. For now, he's a good-for-nothing, injury-prone guy with ability.
