  • TP's Thursay, 20th of July

Another good day on Wednesday. 4-0 on rated plays, and winning most small personal plays since the easy winner on Sunday night. Hey, Braves already up 1-0.

Baseball Plays (55-53, +6.93*) - Huge card (for me)

    Toronto Blue Jays -129 (Halladay/Mussina)
130 is the most I lay in a baseball game, but this is a scenario where it just makes sense. The best pitcher in baseball over the past couple seasons starts at home against a Yankees team that is traditionally a terrible underdog. The Yankees are winning a lot lately, but Toronto's offense is at least as good as theirs.
The Jays are just killing teams at home, especially at night, where the average score is BLUE JAYS 6.6, OPPONENT 4.2. At $100 a game, the Yankees are
-$650 against RHP, and the Jays are +$440.
Toronto is 9-1 in Halladay's 10 home starts, and 16-3 overall in his starts. The Yankees numbers with Mussina are only a little worse (14-6), but at this point in his career he is nowhere near the pitcher Doc is. Toronto routed NYY in his only start against them this season, and he has owned the Yankees throughout his career. The same can't be said for Mussina against the Jays, though the Yanks have won both of his starts against them this season.

    Houston Astros +124 (Pettite/Zambrano)
Pettite caught fire the second half of last season, going 11-2 with a 1.69 ERA, and he is showing signs that he will make a similar run this year. He has only given up 6 total ER his last four starts, and last time out, he struck out 10 and gave up 5 hits in 7 scoreless innings.
The Cubs are at their worst against left handed pitching - 4.0 rpg, 12-21 overall, including 6-12 at home. They also have struggled in day games, for whatever reason. Specifically, in day games at home, they are 8-21, with the average score OPPONENT 6.6, CUBS 4.3.
Zambrano's the best the Cubs have to offer, but he isn't enough to make them more than the slightest of favorites in this spot.

    Small personal play:
Rangers +197 - Simply too high a price to lay on a team in an offensive funk. The Red Sox have had next to no success against left-handed pitching, and they might struggle a bit with a Rangers team that has been very good away from home.

    Good luck guys!

    Nice spelling of Thursday, dumbass.

I'm also playing this - I had to play it at the Greek, because Pinny wasn't offering it. I actually think this guy has a very strong chance to win the Open, but I just played it this way:

Thomas Bjorn finishing position Under 20.5 (+150)

GL Dude.........Doesnt Boston seem score as much as they have to?

Isnt Boston favored to win every game as long as the 5 isnt pitching?

Fuck they have a good team.

I know what you mean, they're a really tough team to understand. With that lineup, you'd think they would never go through dry spells, but scoring 2 runs in 2 games against the worst team in the league...
They do seem to do just enough to win, I probably should have taken the +1 or +1.5, but I guess we'll see.

My fantasy squad consists of just about every Boston player

(Manny, Ortiz, Wakefield, Schilling and Lester)....Ortiz and Manny havent been rakin lately and its a product of a few things.

Youk and Loretta havent been getting on as much, Nixon and Varitek are slumping. If I am correct the bottom of the order seems to be scoring the runs lately with Gonzalez and Crisp and Lowell getting the knocks.

Also it helps when two of their weaker whip men in Lester and Beckett come back with gems and win B2B 1-0 games.

              PEACE

                        Thanks guys.

There are just some real differences in my lines and the books' lines today. Actually my line on this game was close to the books' opening line, but the line has moved pretty severely. I'm making a small play on the:

Reds -108 (Arroyo/Glavine) - It's simple, really. The Reds are the best team in MLB against LHP, and they send their best pitcher to the mound today. After a couple poor starts, Arroyo was very good last time out, and Glavine was beaten up in his last start.
Plus, I like that everyone in the world is on the Mets here.
