        • Speaking of Detroit: remember when all those blowjobs who scream at eachother on espn said they were dumb for hiring leyland and that he's too old and his style wont work any more? LOL

            • Well, a disapppointing three days to say the least. Congrats to all the Sox backers. I thought the Sox would take 2 out of 3, surprised that they swept but I am far from suicidal. If you had told me in April that the Mets would get their asses kicked by the So in three games but would have a double digit lead in the division on July 1, I would sign up for it. Sox are hitting on all cylinders right now...but like they say, you are never as good as you are when you are hot and you are never as good as you are when you are cold. It can change at a moments notice. Haven't read this thread (not sure I want to as I am sure there may be a big yellow sweeper somewhere), but some thoughts about the series:

Most underrated aspect of the Sox run- Alex Gonzalez. Been on fire the last month and has one error on the season. Gets overlooked because of Papi's heroics and because he doesn't put up big numbers, but if he hits .250 the Sox would be ecstatic and he is at .270, not to mention one error all season.

Sox defense continues to shine...the left side of the infield is a vacuum, Youkilis is out of his mind at first, Coco makes the catch of the Year and Manny...well, say what you want but he plays that wall like no one else! When he want to, he is above average in the OF. This team has pitching and defense.

Last nights game was great...at one point there was a 'Let's Go Red Sox' chant and in between there was a 'Let's Go Mets' chant. Then it stopped and everyone started a Yankees Suck chant! The atmosphere last night during the game was incredible. There were a TON of Mets fans but everyone was respectful and it was fun. The first two games were over by the third so the was no energy at all.

Not at all worried about the Mets...they play this games to get to October and then it is a whole new season. I feel good about our chances right now. We will probably lose 2 out of 3 to the Yankees with our 3 - 5 starters going...and even then I will not panic. Disappointed that they played poorly the first two games but played well last night. Sox are the better team right now. I didn't get too high wehn we won 8 straight, and I won't be standing on the ledge right now...

Congrats again to Wayne, TTT and the rest of the gang!

                • I want the Mets to sweep also.
My impression is that Mets have a very good young team, but that the Sox have an edge in overall experience in these situations.

I don't think so either;it is hope from a Sox fan. Personally, it would not surprise me if Yanks take the series.

I agree. Detroit is where Smoltz is from and i've heard those rumors for a month now. The funny thing is the rumor about Smoltz and Boston was actually in a Detroit Newspaper

molta, Houston sold a shit load of tickets for the rest of the season when Roger came back. They don't have to refund that money and Houston can ditch what is owed to Roger by dealing him. Houston is also known for not exactly breaking the bank for players so it is possible. If Roger went to him and asked, they wouldn't say no to him.

                              • I really think this weekend against Florida could be a let down. Playing in an empty stadium against a team w/out alot of Stars can spell trouble. This is one of those series where we could lose 2 of 3 ... or worse, and i wouldn't be shocked or even surprised!
