I heard if Houston falls further out that they may trade Clemens. I also heard he and his WIFE are REALLY intrigued with finishing up in Boston. A rumor has been out there about the Sox getting Smoltz too ... I'll take them both!

I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF CLEMENS HAS A NO TRADE CLAUSE IN HIS CONTRACT

I'm telling you, from reports and interviews with his wife ... They REALLY love the thoughts of going round circle and finishing in Boston. Look at the atmosphere in Boston compared to boring Yankee stadium. It's not even comparable!

All that means is he has the choice to choose his team.

And don't forget Kim and his woes when he pitched here.
I can't think of anyone up to now over the many years who compares at all with Papelbon other than the monster (and now deceased) Dick Radatz, who toiled for some pretty lousy Red Sox teams for a few years but was magnificent and actually came in as early as the 7th inning for many of those saves(this was before middle relief came into vogue).

As terrible as they are playing I just don't see them falling enough behind. They are closer than they were last year, and the NL is worse this year than last. Also striking distance of StL as bad as they are playing.

U can squash that rumor about Smoltz.. They said today on the news here locally that the Braves and Tigers are talking about a trade to send Smoltz there and Smoltz said that he would love to play for Detroit..

                              • I would be shocked if he went to Boston. I really don't think it has a chance, but I could be wrong. Bottom line is that McLane (houston owner) would have to approve the deal, and he would never deal Clemens.
