My Answer To Question # 1
1) Why does everyone get on a newbie?
I somewhat agree with Dimer on this one, but there are other points that can be made here.
"Newbies" don't just show up on this site, sign in, and start posting. Most "newbies" lurk around the site for a few months before signing up as a member. Most want to learn the site, and the members.
Yes, some "newbies" do come on strong with their first few posts, and that is probably because they want attention. They feel like they have a lot to offer, and want to help out the site. Vets come into their thread to simply let them know to "chill out" or to "tone it down" a little and let their picks speak for themselves.
But some "newbies" are not really "newbies." They are members who have gotten banned, or services who try to sneak in, post bogus records, get a few followers, then throw their service out there to get business.
I have rarely seen where "jumping on a newbie" has not paid off for this site. It is only done for the good of the site, or for the good of the "newbie." It's done to sniff out the frauds, and to help "newbies" learn the posting rules of the forum.
Now, as for the times where "jumping on a newbie" was unwarranted ... I can not speak for those who go into others threads and "bash" them. I for one do not do theses kind of things, and think it is unacceptable.
