Northern Iowa vs. Southern Illinois (9:00 p.m. ET)
AJ Green will be the key for Northern Iowa this week and they have the potential to win this game by 16-plus point. That, and an efficient landscape of proper clock management gives us a solid hedge with 'under' bets. The key to betting this Northern Iowa team, is focusing on the best chance Northern Iowa has to cover and in this case, its by playing bully ball. Controlling the ball, and clock management gives Northern Iowa the best chance of covering both the 'under' and the spread.
The Citadel vs. Chattanooga (7:00 p.m. ET)
The Citadel plays very lackluster defense, and I believe the matchup against Chattanooga will provide an interesting style dynamic with the size Chattanooga holds at the forward position. Citadel is all about tempo- and if Chattanooga is able to slow the tempo down and play their style of basketball Chattanooga will cover. If Citadel plays their guard matchup properly, they can spread the floor to where it becomes a back-and-forth battle. I see the 'over' being a solid bet, but I like the dynamics of Chattanooga covering here...so I will be playing a two-team parlay in this game with the 'over' and Chattanooga to cover. My projections show a final of 77-72. In favor of Chattanooga.
Bradley vs. Illinois State (8:00 p.m. ET)
Bradley has been playing sound defense all year, they have the ability to score with their guards -- Darrel Brown has been a beast all season (mimicking his electric play from last year). I see this game being a solid cover situation for the Braves. I think a final score of 67-62 seems most likely for the style at play here. This seems like a situation where Bradley is able to possess the ball more than Illinois State and find gaps in the speed of the Illinois State defense. My final prediction for this game is 67-62 to the Braves. Give me Bradley for the cover and the 'under' as a solid hedge.
North Dakota State vs. South Dakota State (8:00 p.m. ET)
North Dakota State versus South Dakota State is a matchup that I have been waiting for. Both teams have very strong guards and a high ceiling for scoring. But this is a situation where I go based off of the previous history between these two squads, I see the game being consistent with last year’s performance. Where the 'over' is a solid cover and both teams are able to score in the high 70’s. Give me a final of 84-73 in favor of South Dakota State
Louisville vs. Georgia Tech (7:00 p.m. ET)
Our last and final game takes us to Number 6 Louisville when they face off against Georgia Tech. This is a game where I see the catalyst being Louisville’s pungent forwards and size at center to influence the landscape of the entire matchup. I love the Louisville cover and the potential for a hedge bet on the over. Louisville tends to play very strong defense when at home, and I see this being a solid cover for Louisville and hedge with the under.
