Game of the Night: Celtics at Nuggets – 9:05 PM EST

The Warriors own the best record in the Western Conference at 9-1, but the Nuggets (8-1 SU, 6-3 ATS) are right behind and handed Golden State its only loss of the season. Denver remains unbeaten at Pepsi Center at 5-0 after rallying past Utah on Saturday, 103-88 as 4 ½-point favorites. The Nuggets outscored the Jazz in the fourth quarter, 35-15 after trailing by five points, while limiting an opponent to less than 100 points at home for the third time this season.

The Celtics (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS) began their five-game road trip squandering a double-digit lead and falling in the final seconds to the Pacers, 102-101 on Saturday. Boston’s four-game winning streak came to a halt in spite of the Celtics knocking down a 19 three-pointers, one game after drilling 24 treys in a home win over Milwaukee. The Celtics had won three consecutive road contests prior to Saturday’s defeat, but Boston has yet to lose back-to-back games this season.

Boston swept Denver last season, which includes a one-point triumph at Pepsi Center as two-point underdogs. Kyrie Irving led the Celtics in the road victory with 27 points, while Denver’s Nikola Jokic posted 24 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Boston is listed as an underdog for the second time this season as the Celtics fell to the Raptors on October 19 as three-point ‘dogs, 113-101. Denver has been the top UNDER team in the league this season with a 7-1-1 mark, including a 4-1 home UNDER ledger.

    Upward Flight?

The Rockets (3-5 SU, 2-6 ATS) have been a huge disappointment out of the gate after finishing one victory shy of the NBA Finals last season. Houston began 1-5, but the Rockets have rebounded with consecutive victories at Brooklyn and Chicago. Granted those are likely lottery teams again this season, but the Rockets need some kind of momentum to avoid falling way behind in the Southwest division. James Harden returned after a three-game absence with a hamstring injury to score 25 points in Saturday’s victory over the Bulls, which included Houston limiting Chicago to seven third quarter points.

Houston travels to Indiana (7-3 SU, 6-4 ATS) as the Pacers seek their fourth consecutive win. Victor Olapido connected on the go-ahead three-pointer in Saturday’s 102-101 home underdog triumph over Boston as Indiana’s last three wins have come by a combined nine points. Last season, the Pacers lost both matchups with the Rockets by double-digits, while the past five meetings between these teams have finished UNDER the total.

    Thundering Back

Oklahoma City stumbled out of the chute by going 0-4, while New Orleans caught fire early by compiling a 4-0 record. Things change fast, even just a few days into November. The Thunder (4-4 SU, 4-4 ATS) are rolling by winning four consecutive games, while the Pelicans (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS) are on a five-game slide.

OKC downed the Suns and Clippers at home, while rallying from an 18-point deficit to shock the Hornets on Thursday. The latest victory for the Thunder came in Friday’s 134-111 drilling of the struggling Wizards as OKC delivered the knockout punch by outscoring Washington, 44-20 in the second quarter. The Thunder improved to 4-2 with Russell Westbrook in the lineup as the 2017 MVP isn’t quite averaging a triple-double yet (25.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg, and 8.8 apg), but OKC has scored at least 111 points in each of its past four wins.

New Orleans wraps up a five-game road trip that has seen the Pelicans lose at Denver, Golden State, Portland, and San Antonio. All-Star Anthony Davis has been dealing with a lingering elbow injury as he missed the losses at Denver and Portland, while scoring 17 points in Saturday’s 14-point setback at San Antonio. The 95 points scored on Saturday was the lowest total for New Orleans through nine games, as the Pelicans look to capitalize off a 2-1 record against the Thunder last season.

    Almost Perfect 10

The Warriors (9-1 SU, 6-4 ATS) have lost only once through 10 games, while coming off three straight wins by double-digits. The latest victory for the two-time defending champions came against Minnesota on Friday, 116-99 as 10 ½-point favorites, helped out by a 33-12 fourth quarter scoring advantage by Golden State. Only three Warriors scored in double-figures, but it was the star trio of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson, who combined for 83 points and 11 three-pointers.

Golden State hosts Memphis tonight as the Grizzlies (5-3 SU, 5-3 ATS) lost in the final seconds at Phoenix on Sunday, 102-100 as four-point favorites. The Grizzlies have lost in four of the past five visits to Oracle Arena, including a pair of 13-point defeats last season. Since falling at Indiana on opening night, the Grizzlies have won and covered in each of their past two underdog opportunities, both coming at Utah.

    Another Almost Perfect 10

Golden State is not all alone at 9-1. Back in the Eastern Conference, the Raptors (9-1 SU, 5-5 ATS) keep rolling after blasting the Lakers on Sunday, 121-107 at Staples Center. Even without leading scorer Kawhi Leonard in the lineup, the Raptors jumped out to a 42-17 lead after one quarter and never looked back as Serge Ibaka shot a scorching 15-of-17 from the floor for 34 points. Leonard missed the game with a foot injury as his status is up in the air for tonight’s contest at Utah.

The Jazz (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS) have been silenced at home this season by going 0-3 at Vivint Smart Home Arena. Utah fell apart in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s loss at Denver, as top scorer Donovan Mitchell will sit tonight with an ankle injury. Utah is listed as a home underdog for the second time this season as the Jazz barely cashed as a 2 ½-point favorite in a one-point defeat to Golden State on October 19. The Jazz have struggled with the Raptors over the years by losing the last two home matchups, while posting an ugly 1-9 ATS mark the past 10 meetings since November 2013.

NBA Preview - Memphis Grizzlies at Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are exactly where everyone thought they would be through 10 games -- atop the NBA standings with a 9-1 record. Their next opponent, the Memphis Grizzlies, is playing better than expected and could really turn some heads if it can manage to hang with the Warriors.

Memphis is on the road for this matchup so it won’t be easy, but the Grizzlies are off to a surprisingly effective start as they make a push for a playoff spot this year. The Warriors don’t much care about pleasant surprises as they have been steamrolling any and all comers once again this season.

Golden State is undefeated at home on the year and will be the heavy favorite to remain that way in this matchup in NBA gambling.

This NBA basketball game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors will be held at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California at 8:30 p.m ET on Monday, November 5th, 2018. The game will be nationally televised on NBA TV.

We'll have NBA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2018 NBA season.

        Odds Analysis

The Warriors are 9-1 on the year. They have a point-differential of plus-13.5, which is the best in the NBA. Golden State has gone 4-0 at home with wins over the Thunder, Suns, Wizards, Pelicans and Timberwolves.

The Grizzlies have started the season 5-2, with a 2-2 record on the road thus far. Memphis has lost to the Pacers and Kings on the road. The Grizzlies have a pair of road wins against the Jazz this season, which is impressive as Utah has a fine team. Memphis isn’t expected to win this one but a good performance could help it cover the spread in NBA gambling.

This game will be shown to a national audience on NBA TV, and there will be live betting options. That means the typical pregame wagers will be available, but so will live wagering after tip-off commences.

        Key Stat

124.1. That’s the points per game the Warriors have produced through the first 10 games of the season, which is easily the best in the NBA. Golden State has the most dynamic group in the NBA. Steph Curry leads the team in scoring with 32.5 per game while Kevin Durant is adding 28.3 points per contest.

On the rare day one or both of them are off the mark, Klay Thompson is around to pick up the slack. He recently had a 52-point game and is averaging 19.8 per contest.

The Grizzlies are one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, allowing only 100 points per game. However, they will be severely tested in this one by all of Golden State’s weapons.

        Scheduling Situation

As if the talent gulf wasn’t enough, the Warriors also have the scheduling advantage. This is their third straight home game so they should be feeling good physically as they have avoided travel recently. The Grizzlies, meanwhile, will be wrapping up a three-game road trip. They play in Phoenix the night before so it is fair to wonder how rested they will be for this one.

The Warriors are heavy favorites to win but this scheduling detail could be key in determining who covers the spread.

        Free NBA ATS Picks

The Grizzlies have a slow-it-down style which they hope can help flummox the Warriors’ offense at time. Memphis is off to a nice start but does not have nearly the talent to keep up with Golden State in this one.

The Warriors are at home and rolling. Take them to pick up a blowout win over Memphis to maintain their spot atop the NBA’s standings. The live betting feature is a good one. If the Grizzlies look sluggish because of the road scheduling, it is a way to take advantage in NBA wagering.

NBA ATS Pick: Golden State Warriors 113, Memphis Grizzlies 94

          • Games to Watch - Week 4

The start of the current NBA season has been a bit of a dream come true for basketball fans who love to see a lot of scoring. It appears as though defense has been put on the back burner in the early going, with several players going off for 50-point games and Klay Thompson breaking the 3-point record for a single game. We can probably expect more of the same this week, as there is no sign that the offensive outburst is about to slow down.

Let’s take a quick look ahead at some of the best games on the NBA schedule for the coming week.

Monday - New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder

The Pelicans roared out to a fantastic start to the season, winning their opening four games of the season and challenging for the top spot in the Western Conference in the process. It has been all downhill since then, though, as they have now lost five games in a row to slide below the playoff line. They will get this week started with a trip to Oklahoma City to face a Thunder team that is coming to life after a slow start to the year. After losing their opening four games, the Thunder have now reeled off four straight wins, a run that has taken them into the No. 8 slot. I think we are in for a close one here, but I am on the Thunder to win.

Tuesday - Milwaukee Bucks at Portland Trail Blazers

There was a belief that these two teams would be better this season, but I’m not so sure that we saw either of them starting out as well as they have. The Bucks have started the season as 8-1 and have benefitted from having six of those games at home, with each of those games ending in a win. The Portland Trail Blazers are just two games out of the lead in the West, boasting a 7-3 record through their opening 10 games of the season. Over the past two seasons, the Bucks have gone 4-0 versus Portland, so let’s take them to win here.

Wednesday - Toronto Raptors Vs Sacramento Kings

The Raptors have come storming out of the gate this season, posting a 9-1 record and going unbeaten at home to get things rolling. They have only had four games on the road to this point, but they have posted a respectable 3-1 record in those games. The Sacramento Kings find themselves in unfamiliar territory above the playoff line after 10 games this season, getting off to a 6-4 start. Prior to last season, the Kings had taken four in a row from Toronto, but they lost both meetings last year and will also probably lose this one, too.

Thursday - Milwaukee Bucks at Golden State Warriors

The fact that we have the Milwaukee Bucks on our list twice this week tells you that they have a tough week ahead of them. We have them beating Portland earlier in the week, but they may be in for a tougher time of things on the road to the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs are off to a fantastic start this season, going 9-1 through their first 10 games while failing to drop a game on home court. These two teams split their regular season series last season, with the Bucks winning in Oakland, but I am on Golden State to get the win here.

                Pacers loving their home court

The Houston Rockets travel to Indiana to take on the 7-3 Indiana Pacers. The Rockets have been disappointing thus far but are happy to be reunited with Harden who leads the team in scoring, averaging 27.8 points per contest. The Rockets are coming off a 96-88 road win in Chicago, where they made up for their 42 percent shooting from the floor by an incredible defensive showing holding the Bulls to only seven points in the third quarter.

The Pacers have won five of the last six meetings and are coming off a thrilling 102-101 home win, rallying late to erase a deficit and secure the win with Victor Oladipo hitting a clutch 3-point shot with seconds left on the clock.

The Rockets have not fared well versus teams with winning records, going 0-6 ATS this season. They have also yet to win two straight this year, going 0-4 in their last five meetings following a win. Head-to-head, the Under has hit in five straight meetings, and the home team has had a lot of success going 7-3 ATS.

The Pacers defensively have been sound, allowing opponents to shoot only 43.6 percent from the floor and score 102.7 points per game overall and only 99.8 at home. Take Under 215 as this game should be closely contested and lower scoring.

                Rocky starts

The 3-5 Miami Heat find themselves as four-point underdogs as they travel to Detroit to take on the 4-4 Pistons. The Heat been able to put points on the board averaging 112.5 per game, despite a very poor shooting percentage of 44 percent. Defensively, they have not been bad overall, but allow opponents to shoot 37.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The Pistons opened their season hot winning four straight, but since then have dropped their last four games to put themselves at .500 on the year.

The Heat will be without James Johnson, Dion Waiters, and Hassan Whiteside. Starting point guard Goran Dragic is expected to return after missing Saturday’s game with a foot injury. He has been integral to the Heat’s success contributing 17.7 points per game along with 5 assists and 3.4 rebounds. With Dragic not at full health, look at taking Under 220 as neither team has shown much consistency on the offensive end.

The importance of a fast start

Two teams going in drastically different directions face off as the Oklahoma City Thunder, winners of four straight, host the New Orleans Pelicans trying to end a five-game losing streak.

The Pelicans are really feeling the loss of all-star center DeMarcus Cousins. Defensively they allow the second highest points per game in the Association with 120.6 with opponents shooting 47.9 percent from the floor.

With the Pelicans point guard Elfrid Payton out once again, it is imperative they get out to a good start today on the road, as falling behind to this Thunder team early could mean trouble. Luckily for the Pelicans, getting out to an early start has been something they have been good at, averaging 30.4 first quarter points per game and 57.8 points in the opening half. Look at taking their first half points Over.

                Inside the paint

It’s no surprise these two teams are off to great starts, and we should be in for a great contest today as the Boston Celtics travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets at Pepsi Center. The Celtics enter today averaging 103.9 percent on 42.2 percent shooting. The Nuggets have shot a very nice 46.6 percent from the floor leading to 111.4 points. Defensively, these have been two of the better teams at forcing opponents into taking tough shots with the Celtics allowing 99.8 points against, and the Nuggets an also impressive 101.9.

The Nuggets have done most of their damage in the paint this year, ranking third in the Association averaging 58.2 per game. The Celtics defensively have been efficient inside, allowing 45.1 paint points per game. Although the Nuggets have many players that can shoot the three-ball well, they have really struggled with consistency from beyond the arc, only shooting 30.6 percent, and have the second lowest average points per game off 3-point shots with 25.7. If the Nuggets aren’t successful inside, they might be in for a long night. Take the Celtics +2.5.

                Statement wins

The Raptors have been incredibly efficient on both sides of the floor this year, and they are coming off one of their biggest statement wins without superstar Kawhi Leonard who sat out last night’s contest at Staples Center. Tonight, they travel to Utah to take on the 4-5 Jazz who have lost five of their last eight games. The Raptors are 4-0 in the second game of their back-to-backs and have been successful when traveling to Utah going 5-0 ATS over their last five meetings, and 9-1 ATS over their last 10.

The Jazz have ruled out shooting guard Donovan Mitchell early, and this is an enormous loss as he’s been the heart and soul of the Jazz team, and arguably their best offensive player. This will make things tough on Utah as the Raptors defensively are limiting opponents to only 107.8 points per game.

With Mitchell out, the Jazz will need someone to help jump start their offense, and that could very well be Ricky Rubio. Inconsistency in the shooting game has been an issue for him but did see his field goals attempted per game increase over the last two. He’s been an integral part of their offense, averaging 7.4 assists per game and contributing 2.8 rebounds. Points may not be easy to come by against Toronto, but Rubio’s low points, rebounds and assists total might be worthy of a closer look.

                • Harden scores 28, hits tiebreaking 3 as Rockets edge Pacers
                  November 5, 2018
                  By The Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) James Harden made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 34.8 seconds left and then closed out the Houston Rockets' 98-94 victory over the Indiana Pacers by making four straight free throws Monday night.

The reigning MVP scored 28 points as the Rockets won their third straight since starting 1-5. And the victories have been coming in large part because of an improving defense. It's the fourth time in six games the usually high-scoring Rockets failed to hit the 100-point mark.

Victor Oladipo scored 28 points and made two 3s in the final minute to cut the deficit to 94-93, but it wasn't enough as Indiana's three-game winning streak ended.

Clint Capela had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets, his sixth consecutive double-double. Chris Paul added nine points and 13 assists.

                  THUNDER 122, PELICANS 116

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City Thunder won their fifth straight game by beating New Orleans, but they lost star point guard Russell Westbrook to a sprained left ankle.

After coming down hard on the side of his foot, Westbrook pounded the ground in frustration before limping off the court. The Thunder led 84-77 when he exited with 4:25 left in the third quarter.

Oklahoma City went on a run without him and led 100-86 at the end of the period.

The Pelicans closed within a point in the final minute, but Dennis Schroder made two free throws with 20.5 seconds left and Paul George made a pair with 11.8 seconds to play to clinch the win for the Thunder.

George scored 23 points, and Schroder had 22. Westbrook finished with 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Julius Randle scored 28 points and made all 10 of his shots for the Pelicans. Anthony Davis had 20 points on 7-of-20 shooting. It was the sixth straight loss for New Orleans after opening the season with four wins.

                  BULLS 116, KNICKS 115, 2 OT

NEW YORK (AP) - Zach LaVine scored a career-high 41 points, including the game-winning free throw with 0.2 seconds left, as Chicago beat New York in double overtime.

Antonio Blakeney scored 17 points, Jabari Parker had 15 and Wendell Carter Jr. added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulls.

Enes Kanter led the Knicks with 23 points and 24 rebounds. Allonzo Trier scored 21.

Emmanuel Mudiay's coast-to-coast layup tied the score with 2.7 seconds left. Lavine, who scored all eight of Chicago's points in the second OT, was then fouled by Mudiay and made the first free throw.

                  MAGIC 102, CAVALIERS 100

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Evan Fournier hit a 22-foot jumper at the final horn and Orlando came back from a five-point deficit in the last 24 seconds, taking advantage of a late collapse by struggling Cleveland.

Fournier took an inbounds pass with 1.8 seconds left after Nikola Vucevic blocked George Hill's shot at the other end, and the ball went out of bounds off Hill.

J.R. Smith's 3-pointer with 41.9 seconds remaining had given the Cavaliers a 100-95 lead until Aaron Gordon scored after an offensive rebound for the Magic with 23.8 seconds to go. D.J. Augustin made a steal and two free throws with 18.7 seconds left to trim the deficit to one.

Kyle Korver then lost the ball to Fournier, who hit one of two free throws with 13 seconds on the clock to tie it at 100.

Gordon scored 23 points for Orlando. Fournier had 15 points and three steals.

Hill scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and made 10 of 12 shots for Cleveland (1-9), which remained winless on the road. Tristan Thompson added 19 points and 16 rebounds.

                  HEAT 120, PISTONS 115, OT

DETROIT (AP) - Josh Richardson scored 27 points to lead short-handed Miami past Detroit in overtime.

Richardson hit four clinching free throws in the final 2.1 seconds, ending Miami's three-game skid. Detroit has dropped five in a row.

The Heat played without center Hassan Whiteside, who is second in the NBA in rebounding (14.6 per game) and blocked shots (2.75). Whiteside missed the game with an injured right knee.

Kelly Olynyk, filling Whiteside's spot on the floor, scored 10 of his 13 points in the second half. Goran Dragic had 21 points and Dwyane Wade contributed 18 off the bench.

Andre Drummond had 25 points for Detroit, and the NBA rebounding leader pulled down 24 boards. Reggie Jackson also scored 25.

Blake Griffin, second in the league in scoring, had 24 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Tuesday’s List of 13: Happy Election Day– go vote!!!!

                      13) Today is Election Day; please go vote, if you already haven’t done so. Its our job as American citizens to go and make our voices heard- its one of the great parts of living in a democracy. Plus, sometimes they have bake sales at polling places so you can get fairly cheap cupcakes or donuts.

Go vote!!! (After you read the rest of this……)

                      12) There is a TV program on WeTV called “Love After Lockup”; it is described this way:

“Couples meet their potential future spouses for the first time once the bars are removed from the relationship.” In other words, once the future spouse gets out of jail.

                      What could possibly go wrong?

                      11) Friday night in the CFL, after Ottawa scored a TD to grab a 23-9 lead with 0:59 left in the 3rd quarter, an Ottawa offensive lineman went to the front row of the stands, grabbed a can of beer from a fan, and chugged the beer— during the game!!!!

When I saw the clip, I figured it was just before the end of the game, but it wasn’t. Yikes.

                      10) There is a dog walking app called WAG; you pay someone to walk your dog for you. They get the keys to your house, they walk little Scruffy around the block, you can follow their progress on the app, and everyone is happy.

In this day and age, if you think I’m giving the keys to my freakin’ house to some stranger who walks dogs for a living, then you’re bleepin’ goofy. There isn’t anything all that valuable here, but it is valuable to me. I’d get the dog a treadmill like George Jetson before I paid someone.

                      9) Sig Mejdal is a former NASA engineer and blackjack dealer who worked on the analytical team that helped the Houston Astros win the World Series LY; he’s let his contract with the Astros run out and will now look for another job.

NASA engineer and blackjack dealer? Sounds like an interesting guy.

                      8) I’m not a big Tom Cruise fan, but his best movie (in my opinion) by far is A Few Good Men, with Risky Business 2nd, and then probably Cocktail.

The scene where Jack Nicholson testifies in court: “You can’t handle the truth!!!!” is still one of my favorite movie scenes ever.

                      7) ESPN’s Mike Breen had a tremendous euphemism as he tried to gently rip the Washington Wizards in their loss Friday night: “…….just a lack of consistent intensity”

Oklahoma City had 110 points AFTER THE 3RD QUARTER; Wizards weren’t trying real hard, which is why they’re 2-7 this season.

                      6) Mark Jackson told a neat story during the Wolves-Warriors game Friday night; when he was coaching Golden State, Jackson brought college teammate Chris Mullen in to work with then-rookie Klay Thompson on footwork, how to use screens, stuff like that- it obviously helped.

When Thompson was playing at Washington State, you wouldn’t have figured him to be a star in the NBA, but he sure is now.

                      5) “Its not who starts, its who finishes.” Lot of basketball coaches say that to subs who might have their feelings hurt when they come off the bench instead of starting.

Actions speak louder than words; JJ Redick hasn’t started a game yet for the 76ers, but he is 4th on the team in minutes played, second on team in shots taken and scoring (18.4 ppg). And his $12,250,000 salary (#3 on team) speaks pretty loudly, too.

                      4) Arizona Cardinals cut QB Sam Bradford, who has earned roughly $129M in his football career, while accumulating a career record of 34-48-1. Arizona wound up paying him $13.5M and he only played three games for them. No bueno.

Bradford is better than any QB Buffalo has, but he’d last about 10 minutes behind that offensive line, thats 10 minutes of regular time, not game time.

Bradford had some success playing for Giants’ coach Pat Shurmur when Shurmur was OC up at Minnesota, so there are rumors Bradford could be heading to the Big Apple.

                      3) A big reason of why college basketball has changed so much in the last decade; freshmen played 81.2% of Kentucky’s minutes last year- freshmen played 67.5% of Duke’s minutes.

In the last four seasons, of the 20 freshmen Kentucky had, 12 of them stayed only one year. 11 of Duke’s last 19 freshmen have left school after one season.

If you’re good enough to start for Kentucky/Duke, you probably already have one eye on the NBA, so it becomes difficult to tell who is invested in playing college ball and who is counting the minutes until they can bolt college and go to the NBA Combine.

                      2) Average ticket prices and team payrolls this past baseball season:
Red Sox $206M payroll, $56.97 average ticket
Astros $172M payroll, $40.25 average ticket
Bronx Bombers $161M payroll, average ticket $47.62
Indians: $137M payroll, average ticket $30.04

                      1) Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt hosted a 4-minute video last week urging all Americans to go vote on November 6th- it was a little odd seeing actors speak as themselves, we’re so used to seeing them play different roles.

But their point is valid— please go vote!!!!

                        • Inside the Paint - Tuesday
                          Chris David

Game of the Night (10:05 p.m. ET)
Milwaukee (8-1 SU, 6-3 ATS) at Portland (7-3 SU, 7-3 ATS)

All eyes will be on the Moda Center on Tuesday as the Trail Blazers host the Bucks in a matchup of talented yet overlooked clubs. Portland enters this game with the third best record in the Western Conference while Milwaukee is second in the East behind a league-leading point differential of 15.8 points per game.

BookMaker.eu opened Portland as a one-point home favorite and the line has flipped to Milwaukee -1 at some betting shops in what’s expected to be a tight game. The Trail Blazers have gone 4-2 both SU and ATS at home this season and that includes a 111-81 win over Minnesota as a six-point favorite this past Sunday.

The Bucks didn’t get caught looking ahead to this matchup either as they pasted Sacramento 144-109 as 10-point home favorites on Sunday afternoon. The win came after Milwaukee dropped its first game of the season last Thursday, a 117-113 close call against the Celtics from TD Garden. This will be the fourth road game of the season for the Bucks, who are 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS on the road. If you believe the West is the more dominant conference, Milwaukee is 2-0 both SU and ATS in those non-conference matchups while Portland sits at 2-2 versus the East.

The Bucks have gotten the best of the Trail Blazers recently, winning four straight and six of the last seven matchups in this series. Last season, Milwaukee stole a 113-110 victory at home before winning 103-91 at the Moda Center. Tight games have been common as three of the six wins by the Bucks have come by three points or less during this span and Portland’s goal should be to stay within reach tonight.

As noted above, the Bucks point-differential is off the charts right now and Milwaukee has only played in two games decided by single digits this season. And they went 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS in those games.

The reason for Milwaukee’s success is scoring, which has gone from 106.1 PPG to 121.9 PPG. The team is shooting 37.9 percent from 3-point land while taking 41 attempts from distance, one of only two clubs in the NBA to shoot 40-plus bombs a game. They just set a franchise record for most 3-pointers made in a game with a 22-of-56 effort against the Kings on Sunday.

Head coach Mike Budenholzer loves the ‘bombs away’ style and some of you may have forgotten but he did lead Atlanta to 60 wins and a top seed in the East in the 2014-15 season. While that Hawks squad was solid with four All-Stars, this Bucks team has a superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo (26.1 PPG, 13.9 RPG, 5.9 APG) and an underrated group of players.

After tonight, the Bucks will get tested again on Thursday as they meet Golden State in the Bay Area. Portland has a couple more home games on deck (Clippers, Celtics) before they begin a six-game road trip which will feature a rematch against Milwaukee on Nov. 21.

                          Charlotte Chalk

The largest spread on the board Tuesday takes place from the Spectrum Center in North Carolina when Charlotte (5-5 SU, 7-3 ATS) hosts Atlanta (3-6 SU, 3-6 ATS) in a Southeast Division matchup. The Hornets opened as 11-point favorites and while the line may seem a tad high, you can make a strong case for the favorite in this spot. Charlotte cleans up on weaker teams and it’s record as a favorite (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) has been solid, plus all four of those wins came by double digits. At home, the Hornets have notched wins versus the Bulls, Heat and Cavaliers while coming up short to the Bucks and Thunder which goes back to my ‘bully’ status on them.

The Hawks live and die from distance and you better hope they shoot a good percentage if you’re taking the points. Atlanta enters this game off a 123-118 win over Miami last Saturday as a 5 ½-point home underdog and it has captured back-to-back wins once this season. Again, you need Atlanta to score if you bet on the club knowing they’re allowing 120.2 PPG and that’s the third worst in the league. For what it’s worth, the spread hasn’t mattered in Hawks games this season. When they lose, they get run out of the building while all three of the wins were outright as ‘dogs.

Before placing a buy order on Atlanta money-line (+550), make a note that Charlotte swept the season series (4-0 SU, 4-0 ATS) last season and is 8-2 in the last 10 encounters and the last five wins in Charlotte came by an average of 14.2 PPG.

                          Pick your Poison

The other two games on Tuesday are tough to figure out and it seems like the oddsmakers just flipped a coin to see who should be favored.

Washington (2-7 SU, 2-7 ATS) at Dallas (2-7 SU, 5-4 ATS)

The recent history between this pair makes you do a double-take knowing Dallas has won 17 of the past 20 meetings (13-7 ATS) against Washington and that includes two blowout wins last season (113-99, 98-75). Dallas would love to keep the domination going since it enters Tuesday’s contest on a six-game losing skid. The Mavericks have had plenty of time to work on things with their last loss coming on Friday to the Knicks (118-106) at home.

Coincidentally, Washington just snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday to New York with a 108-95 victory as a 6 ½-point home favorite. It was the best defensive effort of the season for the Wizards, who are currently listed as the worst defensive team (120.7 PPG) in the league. Washington is clearly the more talented team on paper and even though head coach Scott Brooks has faced early heat, the Wizards have played a tough schedule (ranked 7th) which started with a five-game road trip in the second week of the season.

Oddsmakers opened a healthy total (225 ½) on this matchup and despite not being great shooting clubs, neither is afraid to host from deep. Dallas and Washington both enter this game with 6-3 ‘over’ marks.

Brooklyn (4-6 SU, 5-5 ATS) at Phoenix (2-7 SU, 4-5 ATS)

The Suns haven’t been listed as favorites this season, the only team in the NBA not to lay points, and I’m not sure if they’ll receive enough attention to close in that role on Tuesday. Phoenix just won its second game of the season on Sunday, a 102-100 triumph over Memphis as a four-point home underdog. After its first win, they got clobbered by 28 in their next game so confidence shouldn’t be too high on Phoenix again.

The Suns are playing a Brooklyn team that does have confidence, winners in two of their last three games and that includes a 122-97 blowout win over Philadelphia on Sunday as a four-point home underdog as well. Just by looking at the lines for the Nets, you can see the oddsmakers have given them more respect this season at home but not as much on the road – point in case with tonight’s line. I agree with the pick ‘em opener especially with Brooklyn’s poor road record (1-4 SU, 3-2 ATS). The Nets also haven’t been as effective offensively (105 PPG) away from the Barclays Center. Similar to so many teams in the NBA these days, Brooklyn relies so much on the production of its outside shot.

The pair split last season but the Nets have won and covered five of the six meetings and that includes a run of three consecutive wins in the desert at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
