Thursday's NBA Game of the Day: Thunder at Warriors
        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kevin Durant is averaging 28.5 points and shooting 57.4 percent from the floor through four games with his new team.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors (-10.5, 225.5)

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook square off as adversaries for the first time in their NBA careers when Durant’s new team, the Golden State Warriors, host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. Durant departed the Thunder as a free agent in the offseason and tension is high as he faces his former teammates for the first time.

Golden State rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the Western Conference finals to defeat Oklahoma City and then Durant opted to join the Warriors on July 4. Durant once again denied earlier this week that he is at odds with Westbrook but has confessed the strong relationship they had when they became teammates in 2008 had changed over the years. “You don’t hang out with your 19-year-old buddies no more every day, if you’re growing up and doing your own thing,” Durant told reporters. “Our personalities, my interests, went another way, and his went another way, and I respected that.” Westbrook has led Oklahoma City to a 4-0 start to begin the post-Durant era and he hit the winning jumper in Wednesday’s 85-83 road victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

        TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT

LINE HISTORY: The Warriors opened as 11-point home favorites and that line was bet down to -10.5 by Thursday morning. The total hit the board at 226.5, dropped immediately to 224.5, and crept back up to 225.5. Check out the complete line history here.

ABOUT THE THUNDER (4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS, 1-3 O/U): Westbrook signed a three-year, $85 million extension after Durant’s departure and he has embraced the opportunity to finally be viewed as the face of a franchise. He had 35 points in the victory over the Clippers and is averaging 37.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 10 assists but refused to answer any questions about Durant in the postgame session with reporters. But he did have this to say shortly after Durant left: “We’ve been together eight years. You don’t throw that away. Obviously, he’s now with a new team. But we definitely will talk. Eventually.”

        ABOUT THE WARRIORS (3-1 SU, 1-3 ATS, 3-1 O/U):
Durant is averaging 28.5 points and shooting 57.4 percent from the floor through four games with his new team. Coach Steve Kerr said Durant has seamlessly meshed with his new teammates — “he’s perfect for what we already do,” Kerr said — and the coach understands that the meeting with the Thunder is important to Durant. “Every player is excited when he plays against his former team,” Kerr told reporters. “It’s a little different for Kevin, because he’s a superstar and the spotlight is on him. Everybody’s going to be asking him questions and the TV cameras will be on him and Russ.”

        TRENDS:

        * Thunder are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games.
        * Warriors are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games.
        * Warriors are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
        * Under is 7-1 in Thunder last 8 road games.
        * Under is 5-1 in Warriors last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600.
        * Thunder are 1-7 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Golden State.

CONSENSUS: The public is backing the Thunder as huge road underdogs at a rate of 58 percent and 58 percent of the totals wagers have been on the Over.

              November 4, 2016

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Kevin Durant matched his career high with seven 3-pointers and scored 39 points, coolly knocking down long jumpers while thoroughly embarrassing Russell Westbrook and his old Oklahoma City team in Golden State's 122-96 rout of the Thunder on Thursday night.

This rematch of the Western Conference Finals won by the Warriors in seven games quickly turned into the KD show at sold-out Oracle Arena, where OKC (4-1) took its first loss to leave LeBron James and the champion Cavaliers as the league's lone unbeaten team.

So much for this one being just like any other game for Durant. Even he knew it would certainly mean more once the ball was tipped, a matchup circled on calendars everywhere from the moment he joined the Warriors in July.

Westbrook was held to 20 points - yes, that's right - after coming in as the NBA's leading scorer averaging 37.8 points.

Stephen Curry added 21 points and seven assists while Klay Thompson emerged from his 3-point funk to make four from long range on the way to 18 points in the Warriors' fourth straight win.

              CAVALIERS 128, CELTICS 122

CLEVELAND (AP) - LeBron James scored a season-high 30 points and the reigning NBA champion Cavaliers stayed undefeated, beating the Celtics.

James moved within two points of passing Hakeem Olajuwon for 10th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Olajuwon had 26,946 points, a total James will likely surpass Saturday night in Philadelphia.

The Cavaliers are 5-0 for the first time since 1976-77 when they started 8-0.

Kevin Love scored 26 points, also a season high, while Kyrie Irving added 23 for the Cavaliers. Tristan Thompson recorded a double-double in the first half, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Isaiah Thomas scored 30 points and Avery Bradley had 26 for the Celtics, who played without two starters, center Al Horford (concussion) and forward Jae Crowder (sprained left ankle).

              BUCKS 125, PACERS 106

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker each had 27 points to lead the Bucks past the Pacers.

Paul George scored 23 points, reserve C.J. Miles added 19, Jeff Teague had 16 and Myles Turner 15, but it wasn't enough as the Pacers slipped to 0-3 on the road.

When Parker hit from in close and then from beyond the arc to open the fourth quarter, it looked like the Bucks would coast to their third win of the season.

Indiana had other ideas and closed with a flurry led by George who hit a 3-pointer with 9:28 to go, cutting the deficit to 95-82. When Turner made two free throws and Thaddeus Young hit a basket, the Bucks' lead was nine.

              MAGIC 102, KINGS 94

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Evan Fournier scored 29 points and Serge Ibaka added 17 to lead the Magic to a victory over the Kings.

In one of their better offensive games this season, the Magic had five players score in double figures with Aaron Gordon contributing a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while reserve Jeff Green scored 15 points. The Magic (2-3) won back-to-back games for the first time this season as they returned home from a three-game trip.

DeMarcus Cousins led all scorers with 33 points, while Rudy Gay added 16 for the Kings (2-4), who have lost three straight on their current five-game road swing.

              NUGGETS 102, TIMBERWOLVES 99

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Danilo Gallinari scored 19 points and Jusuf Nurkic added 18 to help the Nuggets outlast the Timberwolves.

Wilson Chandler added 19 points to lead an impressive performance by Denver's second unit to erase a 15-point second-quarter deficit. The Nuggets outscored Minnesota 45-23 off the bench and shot 48 percent for their second win of the season.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 32 points and 14 rebounds and Andrew Wiggins scored 25 for the Timberwolves, who gave away a lead of at least 15 points for the third time in four games this season. Nemanja Bjelica scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, but his 3-pointer at the buzzer went in and out.

                  — Virginia Tech is 4-10 in last 14 games as a road favorite.

                  — Fresno State is 1-9 in its last ten games as a home dog.

                  — Iowa Hawkeyes covered 15 of their last 18 road games.

Friday’s List of 13: Things I’m looking for this weekend……

                  13) Lot of eyes will be on Minnesota Sunday, with Vikings’ OC Norv Turner quitting during the week after two consecutive losses. Minnesota hosts the Lions, a game they’re expected to win.

                  12) Miami Hurricanes haven’t lost four games in a row very often over the last 30 years; they’ve lost four in a row after a 4-0 start, and are only a 3.5-point favorite over the Pitt Panthers Saturday.

                  11) Eagles’ offense has struggled since their bye, with five TDs in last four games; they visit Swamp Stadium with Giants coming off their bye. Winner stays close to Dallas in NFC East race.

                  10) Watching the Showtime reality series on Florida State this fall, can’t help but like the Seminoles, both players/coaches, but at 5-3, they are not having a typical FSU season. Seminoles are in Raleigh this weekend to face NC State Saturday- they’re 2-3 in last five visits there (0-5 vs spread).

                  9) Steelers-Ravens are both coming off a bye; seven of last ten series games were decided by 3 or less points. Will Big Ben be back from his injury? Ravens lost last four games, but win here gets them right back in AFC North race- division is down this year.

                  8) Notre Dame won its last five games with Navy- they’re 16-3 in last 19 series games. Middies can run ball but gave up 412 rushing yards to USF last week. This game is in Jacksonville, could be interesting if Irish struggle defending the option.

                  7) Titans fired Ken Whisenhunt as coach midway thru last year; now he is the Chargers’ OC and San Diego is scoring 31 pts/game at home. This is Chargers’ last game before the election, where the fate of their new stadium could be determined.

                  6) Oregon spent most of last five years crushing USC, scoring 49 pts/game, winning last two visits here, 62-51/53-32, but now Trojans are the better team. Favorites covered eight of last ten series games.

                  5) Road team won six of last seven Jet-Dolphin games, with Gang Green winning last three visits to Miami. Dolphins won their last two pre-bye games; did the bye cost them their momentum?

                  4) Memphis gave up 101 points in losing its last two games, and a Tiger WR’s car got shot up few hours he had an argument with a teammate in practice- no bueno. Memphis are at SMU this week, with 4-4 Mustangs coming off consecutive wins.

                  3) Cam Newton whined last week about taking late hits with no flags; Panthers are in LA this week, where Gregg Williams’ defense has a rep for being…..aggressive. Both teams need a win to get back into contention. Will Jared Goff play for LA?

                  2) Alabama-LSU in Baton Rouge will be quite an event Saturday night; Tide won last four series games. LSU’s interim coach Ed Orgeron needs to win to get the full-time gig.

If you ever read the book Meat Market, about recruiting which centers around the Orgeron era at Ole Miss, you realize they’d probably be crazy to hire him, but strange things happen all the time. Just ask Cub fans.

1— Seattle QB Russell Wilson has a sprained left knee, a sprained right ankle and a pectoral injury. Seahawks already had their bye week, so Wilson has to gut it out until the injuries heal, or until the season ends.

Buffalo lost its last two games, need win here to have winning record heading into their bye week.

Golden State won eight of last ten games with LA (7-3 vs spread); Warriors lost two of last three against the Lakers here. Last four series games stayed under total. Golden State had “big game” with Thunder last night; they’ve won four games in row, but are 1-2 as road favorites. LOS ANGELES (AP) Lou Williams scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers snapped Stephen Curry's NBA-record streak of 157 games with a 3-pointer in a 117-97 victory over Golden State on Friday night.

Julius Randle had 20 points and 14 rebounds for the rebuilding Lakers, who pulled off their second straight shocking home upset of the mighty Warriors with an impressive effort from their exciting young roster.

Lakers coach Luke Walton also won his first meeting with his former team and his coaching mentor, Steve Kerr.

Curry scored 13 points while going 0 for 10 from 3-point range, ending several incredible long-distance streaks. He had hit a 3-pointer in every regular-season game since March 14, 2015.

Including the postseason, Curry had at least one 3 in 196 straight games, and he had also hit in 116 straight regular-season road games - both NBA records.

The Lakers jumped to a 21-point lead in the third quarter and fought off Golden State's challenge in the fourth quarter with huge games from Williams and Randle. D'Angelo Russell added 17 points, and rookie Brandon Ingram had 12.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Bradley Beal scored 20 of his 28 points after halftime, and Washington finally gave new coach Scott Brooks his first victory with the team.

Beal averaged only 14 points during Washington's 0-3 start, never getting more than 15, and Brooks said before facing Atlanta he considered that his fault for not giving his young shooting guard enough opportunities.

John Wall had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Washington.

Dwight Howard led the Hawks with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Dennis Schroder also scored 20.

An aggressive Beal made 13 of 14 free-throw attempts and hit three 3-pointers.

Atlanta cut the deficit to 95-92 and inbounded the ball after a timeout with 11.7 seconds left, but Kyle Korver air-balled a 3-point try with 3.6 seconds left with Markieff Morris in his face. Korver finished 1 for 9 from the field, including 1 for 6 on 3s.

Anthony Davis had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Pelicans (0-6), while forward Terrence Jones, starting in place of the suspended Dante Cunningham, had 19 points. Though the Pelicans outshot the Suns 46 percent to 43 percent, they managed to shoot just 53.6 percent from the free throw line (15 of 28). The Suns finished 24 of 28 at the line.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last player to start a season with five games with at least 30 points was Michael Jordan from Nov. 1-11, 1986.

Reserve Sean Kilpatrick scored 19 points for the Nets, who didn't have starting point guard Jeremy Lin available to face his former team because of a strained left hamstring that will keep him sidelined for at least two weeks.

Brook Lopez added 18 points and Trevor Booker had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Nets.

Rose, the Bulls' first-round draft pick in 2008, finished with 15 points and 11 assists, while Noah, a 2007 first-rounder, had 16 points and nine rebounds. They teamed up to play a familiar two-man game late as New York held off a Chicago rally.

Both Rose and Noah received loud ovations from the United Center crowd during pregame introductions, although there were some boos mixed in for Rose. The Chicago native also was booed every time he touched the ball in the first couple of minutes.

The Bulls played a video tribute to Rose and Noah during the first timeout.

Dwyane Wade led Chicago (3-2) with 35 points on 12-for-20 shooting and Jimmy Butler added 26 points.

                              CLIPPERS 99, GRIZZLIES 88

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Chris Paul had 27 points and 11 assists, Blake Griffin added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Los Angeles.

The Clippers built an early lead then survived a fourth-quarter Memphis rally. The Grizzlies would score nine straight points and eventually pulled within 93-86 with less than a minute left.

                              Memphis would get no closer.

J.J. Redick scored 12 points for Los Angeles while DeAndre Jordan grabbed 21 rebounds.

Mike Conley led Memphis with 30 points and 10 assists, while Marc Gasol aded 21 points and nine rebounds. Zach Randolph finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

J.J. Barea scored 23 points and Harrison Barnes had 17 for the Mavericks, who were without Andrew Bogut (personal reasons) for the game and Dirk Nowitzki (sore right Achilles) in the second half.

With backcourt mate C.J. McCollum saddled with foul trouble for most of the game, Lillard had 18 of Portland's 25 points during a 14-minute stretch of the second half.

                              SPURS 100, JAZZ 86

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Kawhi Leonard scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as San Antonio beat Utah.

The Spurs bounced back from a 15-point home loss to the Jazz on Tuesday after losing just one game in San Antonio all of last season.

The Jazz jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first quarter and an unhappy Spurs coach Gregg Popovich called a timeout just minutes into the game. The Spurs responded with a 29-7 run and the Jazz never led again. Utah got within seven in the third quarter, but Leonard responded with five quick points and the Jazz never got within single digits the rest of the game.

Leonard continued his MVP-caliber season by shooting 9 for 18 from the field while LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points and six rebounds.

Rodney Hood led the Jazz with 18 points, but the team shot just 37.5 percent.
