If you were a starter for the Yankees, you could win 12 games!

I think he is one of the best GM's in baseball and that he wouldn't be as easy to replace as you think.

As long as ownership is in place, i have no worries about the Sox future. With or without Theo.

IMO, if I am Boston, and by Savage's criteria:

          Lincecum for Beckett (NO)

          Cain for Beckett (NO)

Lincecum and Cain for Beckett (YES)

I say this because, let's look at this extremely hypothetical rotation:

          Lincecum
          Lester
          Cain
          Buchholz
          Penny

(That's as good as it gets)

However, the whole situation is hypothetical and moot.

He said no to Lincecum & Cain for Beckett.

savage, There is no doubt in my mind that Francona is more important to Boston than Theo too. If i had to keep one or the other, give me Francona with no 2nd thoughts. Theo keeps moving down the chain ......

Isn't that what you use for your criteria for deciding things...All-Star Games and Inter-League play???
In this case I think the deciding criterion is the league and division the pitchers pitch in.
I believe AL East is the best division in baseball and that the Nl is a weaker league and the NL West is probably the worst or second worst division at best in that league.
Therefore, I know what Halladay and for that matter Beckett can do and have done in the better league and best division;I don't know how Lincecum and Cain would do if they pitched for the Sox.
The Sox want to win a WS this year;therefore, all things considered, I would not gamble that Lincecum and Cain could step right in and do what Beckett has done so far this year and in his career;therefore, I would not swap Beckett for the two SF pitchers but would take Halladay if forced to make the deal(God I hope they get him in any event before 7/31 even if it does mean giving up Buchholz and a few other players-he is creme dal la creme imo);does that make sense?

Well you said savage's criteria and put a yes next to it. Which is it? Very confusing .......

I'm just speechless savage. I can not think of one person anywhere in baseball that would think that way. Absolutely crazy.

                          Savage's criteria:

Win a WS this year, Salaries don't matter. That was the criteria he set for his question. I have an answer of my own. Confused?

                            I would tend to agree.
PS Waybe- I cannot stress how good the book is Dynasty by Tony Massarotti if you have not already read it-it so much epitomizes and tells what really went on from the Duquette years through the present.

I let two of my friends who are both Sox diehards, and they both loved it also and coudn't put it down.

Now that you explained it no, i'm not confused no more.

I'm aware of that. And that is why I would not take Lincecum for Becks.
