CHICAGO (AP) Jason Heyward had three hits and two RBIs, Ian Happ belted a two-run homer and the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6 on Thursday night in baseball's first game after the All-Star break.
Anthony Rizzo added two doubles from the leadoff spot as Chicago kicked off a five-game series against St. Louis with its fourth consecutive victory. Victor Caratini had three hits and scored three times, and Ben Zobrist delivered a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the Cubs' five-run fifth inning.
With Chicago and St. Louis returning a day earlier than the rest of the majors, Cubs manager Joe Maddon held All-Stars Willson Contreras and Javier Baez out of the starting lineup. Caratini and Zobrist picked up the slack quite nicely as the NL Central leaders increased their advantage to a season-high three games over idle Milwaukee.
Yadier Molina matched a career high with four hits for St. Louis, but interim manager Mike Shildt was handed his first loss in his second game in charge after Mike Matheny was fired Saturday night. Tommy Pham and Matt Carpenter each hit a solo homer.
The Cardinals had a 3-1 lead before the Cubs started teeing off on Carlos Martinez (6-6) in the fifth.
Caratini singled, advanced to second on shortstop Paul DeJong's throwing error and scored on Rizzo's stinging double into the gap in right-center. Heyward hit a tying RBI single and Zobrist followed with a fly ball to center, driving in Kris Bryant for a 4-3 lead.
Happ then hit a drive deep to right-center for his 12th homer. He also went deep in his previous game, connecting for a solo shot in Saturday night's 11-6 victory at San Diego.
Brian Duensing (3-0) got the last out of the fifth for the win. Pedro Strop got one out for his third save after the Cubs placed closer Brandon Morrow on the 10-day disabled list as part of a flurry of pregame moves.
Martinez allowed six runs, five earned, and seven hits in five innings. The right-hander went 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA in his previous four starts.
Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks also struggled, yielding nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. But he wiggled out of a couple jams while limiting the Cardinals to three runs.
WATCH OUT
Umpire Kerwin Danley staggered away from the plate after taking Bryant's foul ball off his mask in the eighth. Molina helped steady Danley while a Cubs trainer came out of the dugout.
Danley stayed in the game after the trainer checked him out.
MAKING MOVES
Morrow is dealing with right biceps inflammation. The DL stint is retroactive to Monday.
''It's been bothering him a bit, but we thought it was manageable, but now it's not,'' Maddon said. ''So we just have to take a little bit of a break. We don't anticipate him being gone for a long time.''
Morrow, who turns 34 next Thursday, has 22 saves and a 1.47 ERA in 35 games.
The Cubs also activated outfielder Albert Almora Jr. and relievers Carl Edwards Jr. and Anthony Bass. Almora was placed on the family medical emergency list Sunday. Edwards was on the paternity list, and Bass was sidelined by an illness.
Infielder David Bote and reliever Rob Zastryzny were sent down to Triple-A Iowa.
TRAINER'S ROOM
Cardinals: OF Harrison Bader was available off the bench after leaving Sunday's 6-4 victory over Cincinnati with a hyperextended left knee.
Cubs: SS Addison Russell was visited by a trainer after making a diving stop behind second on Kolten Wong's RBI single. But he stayed in the game. ... SS Nico Hoerner, Chicago's first-round pick in last month's draft, hurt his left elbow diving for a ball in his fourth game with Class A South Bend. He will miss the rest of the season with the ligament injury, but he said he doesn't think he will need surgery and could play again in the fall.
UP NEXT
Cubs ace Jon Lester and Cardinals right-hander Jack Flaherty get the ball on Friday afternoon. Lester (12-2, 2.58 ERA) is 8-0 with a 2.80 ERA in his last nine starts. Flaherty (3-4, 3.24 ERA) pitched five shutout innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati in his previous start on Saturday.

Quote of the Day
“No question. You know, shit, it’s almost like Coach Gase is one of the guys, one of the boys, and you want to fight hard for your boys……..and back in New England it’s like you’ve got a principal in a principal’s office and shit like that. In a good way and a bad way too. Much respect to all the coaches who have given me the opportunity to play for their team.”

Friday’s quiz
Which major league team’s games went over the total the most before the All-Star break?
Thursday’s quiz
The designated hitter come to the American League in 1973.
Wednesday’s quiz
George H. W. Bush was the last President who had only one term in office.
*******************************
Friday’s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but…….
13) Cleveland Indians acquired relievers Brad Hand, Adam Cinder from the Padres, in exchange for hitting prospect Francisco Mejia, who is a catcher/OF. Cleveland’s bullpen is a mess, so this was necessary for the Tribe, while Yan Gomes’ resurgence made Mejia more expendable.
12) Washington plays Auburn on September 1st; over last seven years, there have been only 11 football games between SEC/Pac-12 teams. SEC is 8-3 in those 11 games, but Pac-12 teams won both meetings last season.
11) They experimented with a new rule at NBA Summer League; when a team got an offensive rebound, the shot clock re-set to 0:14, not 0:24. Makes sense; think that rule would have more of an impact in college than the pros.
10) If you like to make “first 5 innings” bets on Washington Nationals games, don’t play on the Nats when Tanner Roark pitches. Washington is 3-10 in Roark’s last 13 starts, 1-12 in the first five innings of those games.
9) Since 2013, UConn’s football team is 0-11 vs spread as a home favorite, 2-17 since 2011.
Since 2012, UNLV’s football team is 21-8 as a road underdog.
8) Remember when Blockbuster video stores were all over the place? There is only one left in the whole country now, in Bend, Oregon.
7) There is a statistic in college basketball called “Minutes Continuity” which measures how much the current players have played together. I find it pretty useful.
There are 351 Division I teams; here is UNLV’s minutes continuity the last five years:
334-347-310-350-311. Thats almost a whole new roster every season.
Here is Kentucky’s: 336-176-335-322-348.
Here is Duke’s: 207-266-334-180-339
Difference is, Duke/Kentucky are getting best freshmen in country, UNLV doesn’t. This year, their continuity should be a little better, and their record should improve. Last time Rebels had a winning record in the Mountain West was 2013-14.
6) By way of comparison, Loyola of Chicago made the Final Four last year, after having their first winning conference season in 11 years. Their minutes continuity? #82.
5) Denver Nuggets’ #1 draft pick Michael Porter Jr had another procedure done on his back last week; for a young kid, he’s had a lot of physical issues. Nuggets haven’t written off him playing this coming season, but he played only 2 or 3 games for Missouri last year.
4) Part of the reason there was such a scramble for QB’s in April’s NFL Draft is that this year’s crop of college QB’s is expected to be especially weak. Think about it: Oklahoma’s quarterback has already signed a pro baseball contract for next year.
Maybe things will change drastically once the games start next month, but for now, scouts are down on this year’s crop of signal callers.
3) Stephen Curry is the only player from the ’09 NBA draft still with his original team.
2) Oklahoma City traded Carmelo Anthony and a protected ’22 1st-round pick to Atlanta for PG Dennis Schroder, Mike Muscala. Anthony will be waived and become a free agent. A team that doesn’t care about defense will sign him.
Trade gives Oklahoma City gets huge salary and luxury tax savings, and having Schroder allows them to play Russell Westbrook off the ball for 20 or so minutes a game.
1) 5 ways to think like a champion, from best-selling author/motivational guru Jon Gordon:
a) Champions expect to win.
b) Champions celebrate the small wins.
c) Champions don’t make excuses when they don’t win.
d) Champions focus on what they get to do, not what they have to do.
e) Champions believe they will experience more wins in the future.

The only division in baseball that showcases four teams with at least 50 wins at the All-Star break is the National League West. Arizona and Colorado hook up at Chase Field for a weekend set after the Rockies won the final five contests of a six-game homestand. Following a loss to the Diamondbacks in the opener, the Rockies captured the last two games, including a 19-2 blowout in Game 2 of that set. Colorado swept Seattle to finish 5-1 on the season against the Mariners, while owning a 5-2 mark in its past seven road contests.
In Friday’s opener, right-hander German Marquez will look to keep Colorado’s win streak alive. Marquez owns a 3-0 record in his last three starts, including an easy victory in that 17-run blowout of Arizona last Wednesday. The Rockies have won six of Marquez’s nine road assignments this season, including a victory at Chase Field as a +130 underdog on March 31.
Coldest team: Brewers (0-6 last six)
It’s a bitter taste in the mouths of the Brewers, who finished a promising first half with a thud. Milwaukee put together a successful 6-1 homestand to start July, but lost two of three at Miami, followed by getting swept in a rare five-game series at Pittsburgh. In the finale of the Pirates’ series, the Brewers squandered a late three-run lead in an extra-innings setback as Milwaukee has dropped into second place of the NL Central behind surging Chicago.
The task doesn’t get easier for the Brew Crew, who welcome in another hot squad in the Dodgers to Miller Park this weekend. Manny Machado is set to make his Dodgers’ debut after getting acquired by the Orioles on Thursday and he will help lead a lineup against Milwaukee southpaw Wade Miley. In three starts this season, the Brewers are 2-1 with Miley on the bump, while coming off a loss at Pittsburgh last Thursday in his previous outing.
Three seasons removed from claiming the AL Cy Young award, Keuchel owns a 30-25 record since 2016. Following a rocky start to this season, Keuchel is returning to ace form by winning three consecutive starts. Even though those victories came against below .500 squads in the White Sox, Rangers, and Tigers, Keuchel has allowed three earned runs in the last 19 innings of work, while Houston has compiled a 6-1 mark in his past seven starts. Keuchel will be tested by a tough Angels’ club on Friday in Anaheim, as he has not faced L.A. this season, but Houston won both his starts against the Halos in 2017.
San Diego won five consecutive starts made by the left-hander from late May through June. However, the Padres have dropped three of Richard’s last four starts, while allowing 15 runs in the past 24 innings of work. Richard had the unfortunate task of taking the mound for six consecutive road starts prior to a no-decision in a home defeat to the Cubs last weekend. The good news for Richard is the Padres won both of his starts against the Phillies last season, including a complete-game shutout at Petco Park last August.
Biggest OVER run: Reds (8-0 last eight)
Cincinnati returns home for the first time since July 4 as the Reds are coming off eight consecutive OVERS to finish off a nine-game road swing. Cincinnati’s offense continues to put up strong numbers since June as the Reds have scored four runs or more in 13 of the past 14 games. The Reds welcome in the rival Pirates on Friday as right-hander Tyler Mahle looks to bounce back after getting tagged for seven runs in 2.1 innings of a 19-4 drubbing at Cleveland last Wednesday.
Biggest UNDER run: Diamondbacks (6-1 last seven)
Arizona’s offense busted out for a 20-run performance against San Diego on July 7. In the last seven games combined, the D-backs have plated a total of 17 runs, including only six runs in a series victory at Atlanta prior to the All-Star break. The D-backs received a pair of terrific pitching performances in the first two wins over the Braves behind the Zack G connection of Zack Godley and Zack Greinke as they limited Atlanta to one run. Arizona has lost three consecutive home openers, while scoring three runs or less in each of those contests as the D-backs host the Rockies.
Matchup to watch: Giants vs. Athletics
The Bay Bridge Series continues in the East Bay after Oakland captured two of the first three matchups at San Francisco prior to the All-Star break. After getting blown out in the opener, 7-1, the A’s outscored the Giants, 10-5 in the final two games to close the first half with an incredible 15-4 record in their last 19 contests.
With the venue shifting to the Oakland Coliseum, rookie right-hander Dereck Rodriguez tries to stay on fire for San Francisco. Rodriguez is unbeaten in his last five starts, while tossing three scoreless innings in a 5-4 extra-innings triumph over the Cubs on July 11. Rodriguez is making his first start since July 6, as he has allowed three earned runs in his last three starts (20 innings pitched).
Edwin Jackson is pitching for his 14th team in his 16th season as the veteran right-hander was on the losing end of a 7-1 defeat to Madison Bumgarner and the Giants last Friday night. Jackson wasn’t bad as he yielded two earned runs for the third straight start, but the offense couldn’t get going against Bumgarner. The A’s look to improve on a 6-1 record in their past seven home contests, while splitting a pair of home matchups with the Giants last season.
Betcha didn’t know: The Yankees have grabbed six of the last seven matchups with the Mets in the “Subway Series” since the start of 2017. Granted, the Bronx Bombers didn’t face Noah Syndergaard in any of those games, as the Mets’ right-hander heads to the mound on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. Syndergaard hasn’t seen the Yankees since a 5-0 home loss in 2015, while “Thor” last won as a road underdog in 2016 against the Cubs.
Biggest public favorite: Mariners (-205) vs. White Sox
Biggest public underdog: Angels (+115) vs. Astros
Biggest line move: Indians (-175 to -190) at Rangers

The Subway Series has seen better days. The New York Yankees are living up to the billing as one of the best teams in the major leagues but their counterparts, the New York Mets, are going through a poor season. The teams will face off after the All-Star Break and the Yankees hope their combination of superior talent and home field advantage will make for an easy victory.
The Yankees are one of the three best teams in the American League but the problem is that the Boston Red Sox are also one of them and they play in the same division. The Yankees are currently 4.5 games back in the race for the National League East title and would love to catch Boston to avoid a Wild Card spot in the postseason.
The Mets are already looking toward 2019 as they are far out of the playoff race. This game means much more to the Yankees but the Mets do have a talented starter heading to the hill, which could help even out the odds in MLB wagering.
The MLB Baseball contest will be held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. The game will take place on Friday, July 20th, 2018, at 7:05 p.m. ET.
We'll have MLB baseball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2018 MLB season.
Odds Analysis
The Yankees are going to enter this contest as the favorites. They are 62-33 on the season with an impressive mark of 33-13 at home. New York has a strong offense, starting pitching and relief staff which should give them the ammunition to make a legitimate World Series run.
The Mets are just 39-55 on the year but have actually done better on the road, winning 20 of 43 contests.
Probable Pitchers
The Mets are projected to send talented hurler Noah Syndergaard to the mound. He is 5-1 on the season with a 2.97 ERA. Syndergaard missed several weeks with a finger injury but returned on Julu 13 and gave up only one earned run in six innings in a win over the Nationals, showing no ill effects from the injury. He has the pure stuff to stymie a talented Yankees lineup.
New York will counter with Domingo German, who is 2-5 with a 5.49 ERA. He is in the rotation because of injuries and is nothing more than a fill-in. The Mets need to take advantage of this pitching advantage because they are weaker everywhere else.
Key Stat
363. That’s the number of runs the Mets have scored this season, which is 28th in the major leagues. The team has struggled with the bats all year long. The team batting average is only .228 and the on-base-percentage is .307, both of which are among the worst marks in the majors.
Yoenis Cespedes is a talented slugger and he will be back in the lineup after missing a long stretch due to injury. His return is a boost, and there are some intriguing young pieces, but overall the Mets don’t have the depth or high-end talent to compete with the best teams in the majors on a consistent basis. In contract, the powerful Yankees have scored 493 runs on the year, as players like Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, Aaron Hicks, Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorious have all put together impressive performances.
The Yankees have the clear advantage on offense and would love to flex their muscles in this one.
Free MLB ATS Picks
The Mets have a huge advantage to start on the mound but look for the Yankees to hang around early and eventually win the game in a battle of relievers. The Yankees need to start the second half hot to close the gap on the Red Sox and they will pick up a valuable game here, but by the slimmest of margins. Consider taking the Mets on the runline in MLB betting.
MLB ATS Pick: New York Yankees 4, New York Mets 3

Cards-Cubs Kick Off 2nd Half
The Chicago Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night at Wrigley Field and it's the only game in town. There are some amazing total trends for bettors to pay attention to, however. The 'over' is 5-1 in the past six games for the Cardinals, and 4-0 in their past four inside the National League Central Division. In addition, the over is 4-0 in the past four against right-handed starting pitchers, while going 5-1 in the past six for Carlos Martinez. The over has cashed in five of Martinez's past seven road outings against a team with a winning record, too, while going 13-3-1 in his past 17 overall against teams with a winning mark. The over is also 5-0-1 in the past six starts by Martinez against the Cubbies. The wind will also be blowing out to left field at 10-13 mph, making it more difficult for the pitchers to keep the ball in the yard.
As far as the Cubs are concerned, the over has been good for them lately, too. The over is 4-0 in their past four games overall, while going 4-0 in their past four against right-handed starting pitchers. The total has also gone over in five of their past six against NL Central foes, too. If the game goes over, though, it will be against the trends as far as Kyle Hendricks is concerned. The under has hit in 12 of his past 15 starts against NL Central opponents, while going 19-8 in his past 27 starts overall. The under is 22-4-1 in his past 27 home outings against a team with a winning overall record, and 15-3 in his past 18 while working on four days of rest, too. At Wrigley Field, the under is 37-16-1 in Hendricks' past 54 home assignments.
Looking Ahead
Friday, July 20
The under has cashed in four straight starts for Anibal Sanchez of the Braves, while going 4-1 in Atlanta's past five games overall. The under is also 6-1 in their past seven against NL East foes. However, the over is 4-1 in their past five on the road against right-handed starting pitchers, and 15-5 in their past 20 games on the road. For Washington, the under is 5-2 in the past seven overall, while going 4-1 in their past five against winning teams and 7-1 in their past eight at home against teams with a winning road mark. However, the over is 40-19-3 in the past 62 home outings for Strasburg, while going 4-0 in his past four starts in Game 1 of a new series. The over is also 5-1 in the past six home starts by Strasburg against the Braves. The head-to-head trends show the under is 4-0 in the past four meetings in D.C., and 8-1-2 in the past 11 meetings overall. However, winds will also play a factor (see below).
The Twins and Royals battle each other in K.C., and the over is the overwhelming trend. The over has hit in five of the past six for the Twins, while going 4-1 in their past five against left-handed starting pitchers. The over is also 6-2 in Minnesota's past eight following an off day, while going 11-4 in Kyle Gibson's past 15 in Game 1 of a new series. However, the under is 13-4-1 in the past 18 road starts by Gibson, and 5-1-1 in his past seven on the road against teams with a losing record. For the Royals, the over is 4-1 in the past five overall, 5-1 in the past six home games. The over is also 4-1 in their past five against the AL Central, and 4-1 in their past five vs. RHP. The over has also connected in four of the past five home outings for Danny Duffy. The over has connected in 10 of the past 14 meetings in Kansas City, and 5-2 in the past sevne meetings overall. The over is also 5-2-1 in the past eight starts by Gibson against the Royals, while the under is 7-1 in Duffy's past eight home outings against the Twins.
Other Total Trends
The under is 8-2 in the past 10 interleague games for the Mets, while going 8-2 in their past 10 vs. AL East opponents. The under is 5-1-1 in Noah Syndergaard's past seven starts, too, while going 15-4-2 in his past 21 against teams with a winning record. The under is 5-0 in the past five at home for the Yankees against teams with a losing road mark, and 12-1 in their past 13 interleague games. The under is 11-4-1 in the past 16 home games for the Bronx Bombers, and 27-10-2 in their past 39 overall. The under has also hit in four of the past five in the Subway Series.
The under is 5-2 in the past seven meetings between the Marlins and Rays. While the over is 9-2 in Miami's past 11 road outings, the under is 5-0 in Dan Straily's past five road assignments against a team with a winning mark. The under is also 6-1-1 in Tampa's past eight at home, and 21-9-1 in the past 31 overall.
The over is 13-2-1 in the past 16 games for the White Sox on Fridays. The over is also 9-3 in their past 12 on the road. However, the under is 11-4-1 in the past 16 starts by James Shields, and 6-1-1 in the past eight home outings by Wade LeBlanc.
The Bay Bridge Series between the Giants and A's has seen the over go 10-2-2 in the past 14 meetings overall, including 7-0-1 in the past eight in Oakland.
Betting On The Wind
In the matinee battle between the Cards and Cubs, the wind is forecast to be blowing out to left field from 11-14 mph. That will aid in the 'over' as long as the thunderstorms hold off.
The Braves and Nationals will be dealing with 10-13 mph winds blowing out to left field, as Home Run Derby champion Bryce Harper looks to kick off the second half on a high note.
In Cincinnati and Detroit, the winds will be blowing in to help the pitchers. The Red Sox-Tigers will be battling 14-17 mph winds blowing in from straightaway center field to home plate. The winds will be humming from right field to home plate for the Bucs-Reds at a 10-13 mph clip. Both cities face a 40-50 percent chance of rain, so a delay or postponement is possible.
The Indians and Reds won't be dealing with precipitation, but sweltering heat and winds. The gametime temp at Globe Life Park is forecast to be 107 degrees, 'cooling' off to 101 by 9pm CDT. The winds will be howling from right field to home plate at 11-14 mph.
Lastly, the winds will be helping batters for the Giants and Athletics, blowing out to right field from 13-16 mph.

“Adding the DH to the National League is a bad idea in my opinion. The difference of the leagues is one of the beautiful things about baseball. The National League brand of baseball is a beautiful game, and I think, the way baseball is supposed to be played”

Saturday’s List of 13: Random stuff with weekend here
13) Lot of nights while you’re sleeping, I’m watching movies, listening to music and researching obscure facts/trends that I can use in this space. Sometimes the stuff I find is useful, sometimes it is useless, you never know- the research is what makes it interesting.
Other night I was thinking about how NFL coaches in their first year with a team do in their first game with that team, so I spent a few hours looking it up.
12) Biggest trend I could find is that those teams with new head coaches went under the total 55.6% of the time (74-59-3) since 1998. Eliminate Dallas (over 5-0) and the Rams (over 4-1) and under becomes 73-50-3 (59.3%).
11) Teams with new coaches went 68-60-8 vs spread, 47-40-6 as underdogs. Nothing huge there. My thought in looking this up is that you have to examine the situation each team is in.
Last year, the Rams opened at home against Indianapolis; only a fool would’ve laid points with a Rams’ squad that had been pointspread poison for several years, but the Colts were starting Scott Tolzien at QB and he shouldn’t be a starter in the Canadian League.
Rams won 46-9. Sometimes life is simple. Most times it isn’t.
10) For the record, there are seven NFL teams this season with new coaches: Cardinals, Bears, Lions, Colts, Giants, Raiders and Titans.
Of those seven, three are favored in Week 1: Lions, Titans, Colts.
9) Clemson signed defensive coordinator Brent Venables a 5-year contract for $11.6M, the biggest contract ever given to a college football assistant coach.
$2,320,000 a year for a defensive coordinator? They better have a damn good defense.
8) There is an actor named Marc Blucas who has been in 64 movies/TV shows, including a starring role in USA Network’s Necessary Roughness and guest shots on Arli$$, CSI and Blue Bloods.
When he was in college, Blucas played basketball at Wake Forest, where one of his teammates was a guy named Tim Duncan.
7) In 2015, the White Sox had a payroll of $118,619,378; this year, their payroll is $71,217,000 so of course they’re still terrible, Jose Abreu is their best player and he will be 32 when next season starts. There aren’t any prized pitching prospects on the horizon, unless you count Michael Kopech, who has walked 57 batters in 88.1 IP this year in AAA— not good.
6) Five years ago, the Astros had a payroll of $26,105,600 and were an awful team- five short years later, they’re World Champs and their payroll is $160,393,900— it figures to swell even further with McCullers, Bregman and Correa all making less than $3M a year this season.
5) Then there are the Mets, a dreadful team with a payroll of $150,558,894.
Jay Bruce, David Wright and AJ Ramos are getting paid a combined $40M this season. Yoenis Cespedes is making $29M; Friday was his first game since May 13.
4) Yogi Ferrell backed out of a contract agreement with the Dallas Mavericks, after agreeing to a two-year, $5.3M deal earlier this week. His agent said: “We felt uncomfortable and will weigh our options.” He must have some better options than $2.65M a year.
3) St Louis 1B Matt Carpenter was 5-5 with three homers, two doubles Friday; his 16 total bases was only three bases shy of the all-time record. They took him out in the 6th inning; teams play a twin bill Saturday, plus the Cubs had position players pitching at that point. In his career, by the way, Carpenter is 22 for 42 with the bases loaded.
Reminds me that a very underrated baseball record is most total bases in one game, held by Shawn Green, who had 19 total bases in a game. Tough to do; four HR’s still leaves you short.
2) Jameis Winston is out for the Buccaneers’ first three games, so how will Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter dispense playing time in exhibition games this summer?
Have to protect Ryan Fitzpatrick, because if he gets hurt then Tampa Bay is really screwed in Weeks 1-3, but he needs work to get ready, too. Winston also needs work, so that he isn’t too rusty when he comes back in Week 4. Maybe Winston plays more in the 4th exhibition game, when starters usually rest?
1) Here’s a solid stat to close with today: over the last 15 years, the Super Bowl loser is 2-13 vs spread in their first game the following season, 2-10 when favored.
