CLEVELAND (AP) Jose Ramirez was 4 for 4 with a pair of three-run homers for Cleveland, and Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander matched a career high by allowing nine runs Saturday in a 13-6 loss to the Indians.

Ramirez had a career-high six RBIs with home runs in the first off Verlander (1-1) and in the eighth against Anibal Sanchez.

Verlander (1-1) gave up 11 hits in four-plus innings, including home runs by Carlos Santana and Lonnie Chisenhall. Santana had three of Cleveland's 19 hits and four RBIs,

Corey Kluber (1-1) struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings, allowing six runs and eight hits.

      MARINERS 5, RANGERS 0

SEATTLE (AP) - James Paxton extended his season-opening scoreless streak to 21 innings, Taylor Motter hit a three-run homer and Seattle beat Texas.

Paxton (2-0) threw eight innings of two-hit ball, walking one and striking out nine. He hasn't allowed a run yet in three starts this year, and his scoreless stretch is a team record to open a season. He's the 10th pitcher in the majors ever to start a year with three scoreless starts of at least six innings.

Andrew Cashner (0-1) lost in his first start since signing with Texas as a free agent.

      TWINS 6, WHITE SOX 0

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Ervin Santana (3-0) pitched a one-hitter for the first complete-game victory by a pitcher in the major leagues this season, stopping Chicago's three-game winning streak.

Santana's (3-0) struck out eight, walked one and retired his final 18 batters. Chicago had just two runners: Omar Narvaez singled with one out in the third and Avisail Garcia walked leading off the fourth.

Jose Quintana (0-3) gave up hits to six of his first seven batters in a 39-pitch first inning, including Max Kepler's two-run triple.

      ROCKIES 5, GIANTS 0

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Tyler Chatwood (1-2) pitched 5 2/3 perfect innings before Chris Marrero's single and finished with a two-hitter for his first big league shutout.

Nolan Arenado had three hits, including a home run off Matt Moore (1-2), who allowed five runs, 10 hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.

      DODGERS 8, DIAMONDBACKS 4

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Yasiel Puig hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning and Los Angeles overcame a sloppy defensive game to beat Arizona.

Alex Wood (1-0) pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win and Kenley Jansen got the last four outs for his third save.

Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin (1-2) struggled in his six innings, giving up five runs - three earned - and nine hits with three walks.

      YANKEES 3, CARDINALS 2

NEW YORK (AP) - St. Louis ace Carlos Martinez (0-2) put on a historically uneven performance, walking a career-high eight while striking out 11 in 5 1/3 innings. Martinez was the first pitcher since Randy Johnson in 1993 with at least eight walks and 11 strikeouts in a game.

The Yankees won their sixth straight despite tying a team record by fanning 17 times. They got plenty of help from sloppy St. Louis, which at 3-8 is off to its worst start in 20 years and has the poorest record in the NL.

CC Sabathia (2-0) took a shutout into the eighth. Jedd Gyorko and Stephen Piscotty homered late for St. Louis. Tyler Clippard got his first save, striking out Randal Grichuk with two on.

      BLUE JAYS 2, ORIOLES 1

TORONTO (AP) - Kendrys Morales homered off Tyler Wilson (1-1) leading off the bottom of the ninth, and Toronto (2-9) stopped a seven-game losing streak.

Roberto Osuna (1-0) had allowed Jonathan Schoop's sacrifice fly in the top half.

      REDS 7, BREWERS 5

CINCINNATI (AP) - Jesse Winker doubled home the go-ahead run in the sixth off Carlos Torres (0-1) with his first major league hit, and Cincinnati overcame two more homers by Eric Thames and stopped Milwaukee's four-game winning streak.

Reds left-hander Brandon Finnegan came out of the game after the first inning because of a strained muscle in the back of his left side. The Reds already have three starters on the disabled list.

Raisel Iglesias (1-0) allowed one run in two innings as manager Bryan Price used five relievers after Finnegan's early departure. Michael Lorenzen walked a batter in the ninth while getting his first career save.

      PIRATES 8, CUBS 7

CHICAGO (AP) - Andrew McCutchen hit a go-ahead, three-run homer of Pedro Strop (0-1) in a five-run seventh. Pittsburgh has won two straight against the Cubs after going 4-14 against Chicago last season, including 1-8 at Wrigley Field.

Francisco Cervelli and Starling Marte also homered for Pittsburgh on a hot, windy afternoon. Chicago led 6-2 before Marte's solo drive in the sixth inning off starter Jake Arrieta.

      Trevor Williams (1-0) pitched a one-hit seventh.

      RED SOX 2, RAYS 1

BOSTON (AP) - Chris Sale (1-1) struck out 12 over seven innings for his first victory with Boston, allowing one run and three hits.

Sandy Leon's broken-bat, bases-loaded ground out pushed across the tiebreaking run in the seventh. The Red Sox loaded the bases on two singles and a walk against Tommy Hunter (0-1).

      Mitch Moreland homered for Boston.

      ASTROS 10, ATHLETICS 6

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - George Springer hit a two-run homer in the eighth as Houston rallied from a 5-0 deficit.

Sean Manaea and Ryan Dull combined to pitch six hitless innings for Oakland.

Carlos Correa left after being hit by a pitch on his right hand in the ninth, and Astros said an X-ray was negative.

Will Harris (1-0) struck out two in a scoreless seventh, and Santiago Casilla (0-1) was the loser.

      PHILLIES 4, NATIONALS 2

WASHINGTON (AP) - Cesar Hernandez hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer off Joe Blanton (0-2- in the eighth.

Jeremy Hellickson (2-0) allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings. Hector Neris pitched a perfect eighth, and Joaquin Benoit a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save since signing with the Phillies as a free agent during the offseason.

      MARLINS 5, METS 4

MIAMI (AP) - Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton hit back-to-back homers against Fernando Salas (0-1) to cap a three-run eighth as Miami rallied from a 4-2 deficit.

Justin Bour and Marcell Ozuna hit consecutive homers for Miami in the second off Jacob deGrom, who tied a career high with 13 strikeouts in seven innings.

Asdrubal Cabrera hit a solo homer in the eighth against Junichi Tazawa (1-0) to put the Mets ahead 4-2. A.J. Ramos pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.

      BRAVES 4, PADRES 2

ATLANTA (AP) - Winless at Turner Field, R.A. Dickey got a victory in his first appearance SunTrust Park. Atlanta has won three straight following a five-game losing streak, including the first two games at its new ballpark.

Dickey (1-1) gave up two runs and seven hits in six-plus innings with six strikeouts, allowing consecutive home runs in the second to Hunter Renfroe and Austin Hedges. The 42-year-old knuckleballer was pitching in his third Atlanta ballpark. He got two victories for the U.S. team that won the 1996 Olympic bronze medal at Atlanta Fulton-County Stadium but was 0-3 against the Braves at Turner Field in six starts and three relief appearances.

Brandon Phillips and Adonis Garcia homered in the sixth off Clayton Richard (1-2).

      ROYALS 3, ANGELS 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Mike Moustakas' fifth home run this season, a drive off off Jose Alvarez (0-1), broke an eighth-inning tie.

Ben Revere had knotted the score in the seventh with a two-out RBI single against Joakim Soria (1-0).

Kelvin Herrera pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.

      • LEADING OFF: Bucs can sweep Cubs, Chapman deals vs Cards
        April 16, 2017

A look at what's happening all around the majors today:

        NEW YEAR

After going 4-14 against the Cubs last season, the Pirates can take a three-game sweep from Chicago with a win at Wrigley Field. Andrew McCutchen hit a go-ahead, three-run homer during a five-run seventh to lead Pittsburgh to an 8-7 victory Saturday. Right-hander Jameson Taillon (0-0, 1.38 ERA) leads the Pirates' effort in going for the sweep, while lefty Jon Lester (0-0, 1.64) is up for the Cubs.

        NOT THEM AGAIN

Cleveland right-hander Carlos Carrasco will hope for better luck when he faces Detroit. Two of his four starts against the Tigers last season ended with injuries. He pulled a hamstring covering first base April 24 and missed six weeks. Carrasco's start on Sept. 17 ended on the game's second pitch, when he broke his right hand after being hit by Ian Kinsler's line drive, an injury that forced him to miss the Indians' run to the World Series.

        SIZZLING STREAK

Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman has gone 30 straight appearances against the Cardinals without allowing a run. The streak began in 2012 and spanned 30 1/3 innings, during which he's struck out 51 and allowed just seven hits. Chapman and his 100 mph heat might get a chance to extend the longest consecutive-game shutout string ever vs. St. Louis in the Sunday night game at Yankee Stadium.

        MONEY'S WORTH

Jose Ramirez looks to lift Cleveland again in the finale of a series against AL Central foe Detroit. Ramirez had a pair of three-run homers among his four hits in a 13-6 win over the Tigers and ace Justin Verlander on Saturday, setting a career high with six RBIs. The Indians locked up Ramirez with a five-year contract in March and he's playing up to it, batting .341 with three homers, 12 RBIs and a 1.014 OPS.

        KID ROX

The Rockies are off to a strong start thanks in part to some impressive performances from their young starting rotation. After Tyler Chatwood threw a two-hitter to beat San Francisco 5-0 on Saturday, rookie Antonio Senzatela (1-0, 1.50) will look to build off getting his first major league win last time out. The 22-year-old righty has shut down the Padres and Brewers in his first two starts. Colorado is 8-5 this season and can win its four-game series against the Giants with a victory in the finale.

        ANOTHER CRACK

Toronto faces Orioles righty Dylan Bundy for the second time this season, and the first go-round wasn't encouraging. Bundy (1-1, 2.70) struck out eight and allowed a run and four hits over seven innings on April 5 in a 3-1 Baltimore win. The 24-year-old has started well in what's expected to be his first full season in the rotation. J.A. Happ (0-2, 5.40) is set to pitch for the Blue Jays.

        • MLB notebook: Rays' Odorizzi injured, makes early exit
          April 15, 2017

Tampa Bay starter Jake Odorizzi left Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox after throwing his first pitch of the second inning.

Erasmo Ramirez was summoned out of the Rays' bullpen and came on in the scoreless game.

Odorizzi, who grabbed his groin/hamstring area, winced after throwing a warmup pitch, which brought Rays manager Kevin Cash and training personnel out of the dugout. Odorizzi appeared to try to stretch and then threw two warmup pitches, but was unable to continue and walked off the mound.

Ramirez was given all the time he needed to warm up and then gave up a home run to Mitch Moreland on his first pitch.

--Third baseman Todd Frazier of the Chicago White Sox left Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins early because of a recurrence of flu-like symptoms.

Frazier missed two games with symptoms of the flu before returning Friday night as the designated hitter. Frazier was back at third base on Saturday but left after striking out in the fourth inning. He was replaced by Matt Davidson.

Frazier is batting .111 this season with one home run.

--Second baseman Brian Dozier of the Twins was out of the lineup against the White Sox after feeling some tightness and swelling in his right knee.

Minnesota's chief baseball officer, Derek Falvey, said an MRI exam on Dozier's knee didn't show any significant injury and Dozier said he would be available to play Saturday, if needed.

Eduardo Escobar started at second base for the Twins on Saturday and Robbie Grossman took Dozier's spot as the leadoff hitter. Dozier is batting .275 with one home run and five stolen bases this season.

--New York Yankees designated hitter Matt Holliday was scratched from the lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals due to lower back stiffness.

Holliday missed his first game with the Yankees due to injury in his second game against his former team. He was hitless in four at-bats with three strikeouts against the Cardinals on Friday night.

Holliday spent the previous 7 1/2 seasons with St. Louis. He signed a one-year deal to be New York's regular designated hitter and is hitting .242 with one home run and five RBIs to go along with 10 walks.

--Home plate umpire Dale Scott was released from a Toronto hospital Saturday morning after being removed from the field on a stretcher in Friday night's game between the Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.

Scott, a 31-year veteran crew chief, was diagnosed with a concussion at Mount Sinai Hospital after a foul tip off the bat of Baltimore's Mark Trumbo directly hit him in the bottom part of his mask in the top of the eighth inning.

Scott, 57, staggered backward before going down on one knee after the ball struck his mask and knocked it off. He was tended to by trainers from both teams, paramedics and a Blue Jays team doctor.

Scott was mobilized with a neck brace, placed on a stretcher and carted off the field.

Giants' Parker injured crashing into left-field wall
          April 15, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Giants left fielder Jarrett Parker broke his right collarbone during Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies when he crashed into the wall while making a running catch.

Parker's grab robbed D.J. LaMahieu of an extra-base hit with two outs in the fourth inning.

After the collision, Parker sprinted toward the infield, stopped and dropped to his knees on the outfield grass. He grimaced, was examined by trainers and was replaced by Aaron Hill.

''You know you are all in when you make a play like that,'' Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. ''You're focused. I had no idea he was going to catch that ball. To see him stay locked in was a hats-off moment to him and a huge play, it kept us in the game.''

          ----------------------------

Reds' Finnegan leaves after 1 inning
          April 15, 2017

CINCINNATI (AP) Reds left-hander Brandon Finnegan left after only one inning on Saturday because of a strained muscle in the back of his left side.

Finnegan walked three, threw a wild pitch and allowed a pair of runs by the Brewers. He threw only 10 strikes out of 24 pitches and was replaced by Robert Stephenson in the second inning.

Finnegan's injury further depletes Cincinnati's rotation. Homer Bailey and Anthony DeSclafani opened the season on the disabled list and aren't close to returning from elbow problems. Rookie Davis is on the disabled list with a bruised right forearm.

            • Armadillo: Sunday's six-pack

              — Jazz 97, Clippers 95— Rudy Gobert hyperextended his knee, a problem for Utah.

              — Cavaliers 109, Pacers 108— CJ Miles missed a 14-footer at the buzzer for Indiana.

              — Bucks 97, Raptors 83— Surprisingly easy win for Milwaukee.

              — Ottawa 4, Bruins 3 OT— Senators even series 1-1, scoring at 1:59 of overtime.

              — Maple Leafs 4, Capitals 3, 2OT— Toronto scored 11:53 into the second overtime.

              — Anaheim 3, Calgary 2— Flames have now lost 29 games in a row in Anaheim.

              **********

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday

              13) Saturday was Jackie Robinson Day across major league baseball; Mr Robinson put up with a lot of BS when he broke into the major leagues and deserves recognition, but what about Larry Doby, who did the same thing, only in the American League with Cleveland? No one ever mentions the guy.

              12) Underrated baseball record: Most consecutive times reaching base— 17, held by Earl Averill (1962) and another guy who did it in 1883.

              11) 26 players on the Cincinnati Reds’ 40-man roster are pitchers; because of that, the Reds are targeting versatile players who give their manager more flexibility within games and also in making players, giving starters days off.

              10) You listen to Reds’ games on TV, no hometown homers there; oh they want the Reds to win, but if they play badly, their own announcers will rip them. Much different than most places.

              9) Dodgers 8, Arizona 4— Since start of the 2014 season, Diamondbacks are now 17-42 against Los Angeles.

              8) Blue Jays 2, Orioles 1— Kendrys Morales won it with a walk-off tater, a much-needed win for a Toronto team off to a dismal 2-9 start.

              7) Astros 10, A’s 6— Houston scored 10 runs, despite not getting a hit in the first six innings. It is hard to describe how badly the A’s played in the last three innings- they led 5-0 after five.

              6) On February 12, 2016, the A’s to Khris Davis from Milwaukee for minor leaguers Bowdien Derby and Jacob Nottingham.

Derby is a pitcher who was 6-13, 5.59 in the Class A Florida State league last year. He is a relief pitcher in AA this season.

Nottingham is a catcher who hit .234 in the AA Southern League LY and is back there this year.

In a year-plus with Oakland, Khris Davis has hit 47 homers in 161 games.

              5) Former Washington Huskies coach Lorenzo Romar signed on with Arizona as an assistant coach, taking the place of Joe Pasternack, the new coach at UCSB.

              4) Nashville 5, Chicago 0— Blackhawks didn’t score a goal in two home playoff games this week.

              3) Speaking of Nashville, they had 11,097 fans for a AAA baseball game Saturday. Not bad.

              2) Our thoughts and prayers are with Celtics’ star Isaiah Thomas, who lost his 22-year old sister in a car accident in the state of Washington Saturday morning. Terrible tragedy.

1— I am a basketball guy, but the NHL playoffs are so much better than the NBA’s version; there is nothing sign sports quite as dramatic as overtime in a playoff game.

San Jose has a player named Logan Couture who to hit in the face with a puck, but is still playing, even though it hurts him to breathe!!!!! Think about that for a second.

While NBA players ask for days off for a mental break from a long season, Couture is playing with a mouth held together by plastic and wire- he probably needs 7 or 8 teeth replaced/taken out completely after the season.

                        • MLB roundup: Harper's blast lifts Nationals over Phillies
                          April 16, 2017

WASHINGTON -- Bryce Harper hit a three-run homer with two outs in the last of the ninth off Joaquin Benoit as the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 on Sunday, taking two of three games in the series.

The blast capped a big day in which Harper went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBIs.

The winning pitcher was Shawn Kelley (2-0), who got the last out in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded, while Benoit fell to 0-1. The second homer of the game by Harper also scored Chris Heisey, who had walked with one out, and Adam Eaton, who had singled.

Aaron Altherr doubled to lead off the ninth and scored on a fielder's choice to break a tie and give the Phillies a 4-3 lead.

                          Royals 1, Angels 0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Alcides Escobar's ninth-inning single scored pinch runner Raul Mondesi as Kansas City blanked Los Angeles to complete a sweep of the three-game series.

Mondesi was running for Salvador Perez, who led off the inning with a single. Mondesi swiped second and moved to third on a Blake Parker wild pitch.

Pinch hitter Mike Moustakas walked and Paulo Orlando popped up before Escobar delivered the game-winning hit.

Kelvin Herrera (1-0) pitched a perfect ninth to get the victory. Parker (0-1) absorbed the loss.

                          Orioles 11, Blue Jays 4

TORONTO -- Trey Mancini hit two home runs, Craig Gentry and Manny Machado added one homer each, Dylan Bundy pitched six scoreless innings and Baltimore defeated Toronto.

Bundy (2-1) allowed five hits and one walk while striking out six as the Orioles (8-3) took three of four from the Blue Jays (2-10).

Kevin Pillar hit a two-run homer in the ninth for Toronto against Vidal Nuno.

Toronto starter J.A. Happ (0-3) left the game with what the club said was a sore left elbow in the fifth inning after throwing ball one to Orioles center fielder Adam Jones.

                          Tigers 4, Indians 1

CLEVELAND -- Alex Avila hit a two-run home run and Matthew Boyd pitched six strong innings as Detroit beat Cleveland.

The Tigers won two of three games from the slumping Indians, who went 2-4 on their season-opening homestand. Cleveland has lost seven of its last nine games.

Boyd (2-1) gave up one run in six innings to get the win. Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth inning to pick up his fifth save. Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco (1-1), who gave up two runs in 6 2/3 innings, took the loss.

                          Braves 9, Padres 2

ATLANTA -- Bartolo Colon was masterful for seven innings, with the only hit the 43-year-old gave up a homer, and Atlanta improved to 3-0 at SunTrust Park with a victory over San Diego.

Ryan Schimpf's homer in the third inning was the only misstep by Colon, who walked one and struck out six while pitching in the 44th ballpark of his 20-year major league career.

The Braves didn't have a hit off Padres starter Trevor Cahill until the fifth but scored two runs in that inning, two more times in the sixth and seventh and three times in the eighth.

                          Marlins 4, Mets 2

MIAMI -- Pinch hitter J.T. Riddle hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to lead Miami over New York.

It was Riddle's first career home run, and it came off reliever Addison Reed (0-1).

Miami had nearly won the game in the previous at-bat, a double by Miguel Rojas that went all the way to fence. Left fielder Yoenis Cespedes threw to shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera, whose relay home cut down Marcell Ozuna.

The Marlins came within four outs of what would've been the first multi-pitcher no-hitter in franchise history. But with two outs in the eighth, Neil Walker hit a 2-0 pitch from reliever Brad Ziegler for a clean single to center.

                          Brewers 4, Reds 2

CINCINNATI -- Ryan Braun hit a two-run home run, and Travis Shaw and Eric Thames added solo shots, lifting Milwaukee past Cincinnati in the finale of a four-game series.

Thames is the first visiting player to hit five home runs in a four-game series at Great American Ball Park.

Milwaukee (7-6) has homered in eight straight games and 20 times in 13 contests. The Brewers took three of four in the series.

Wily Peralta improved to 3-0 and Neftali Perez earned his fourth save.

                          Pirates 6, Cubs 1

CHICAGO -- Adam Frazier went 3-for-4, including a three-run homer in the ninth inning, to lead Pittsburgh to a victory over Chicago.

Andrew McCutchen snapped a 1-1 tie with an eighth-inning RBI on a fielder's choice before Frazier's bomb an inning later sealed it.

McCutchen's run-scoring grounder brought home pinch runner Alen Hanson in a three-run eighth as the Pirates (6-6) completed their first three-game sweep of the Cubs since Sept. 5-7, 2014.

The Cubs slipped to 6-6 with their fourth loss in five games.

                          Red Sox 7, Rays 5

BOSTON -- Mitch Moreland's two-run single in the seventh inning gave Boston the lead for good in its win over Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.

The newly signed first baseman is batting .356 (16-for-45) with an major league-leading nine doubles, one homer and five RBIs through 12 games after going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Moreland stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the seventh and drove an 0-1 cutter for an opposite-field single to left, plating two.

Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run blast for his team-leading third home run and Mookie Betts and Christian Vazquez also had RBIs for Boston, which has won three of its last four. Corey Dickerson and Tim Beckham each hit solo homers and Brad Miller had a triple and two RBIs as Tampa Bay lost for the fifth time in its last six games.

                          Diamondbacks 3, Dodgers 1

LOS ANGELES -- Taijuan Walker pitched one-run ball over five innings as Arizona defeated Los Angeles.

Walker (2-1) gave up four hits. The right-hander walked one and struck out seven in beating the Dodgers for the first time in his second career start against Los Angeles. Fernando Rodney handled the ninth for his fourth save.

The Diamondbacks struck first in the third inning when Chris Iannetta smacked his first home run of the season for a 1-0 lead. Los Angeles starter Rich Hill (1-1), making his second start and his first since landing on the disabled list with blisters, lasted but three innings in losing to Arizona for the third time in four decisions.

                          Mariners 8, Rangers 7

SEATTLE -- For the third time this season, Texas left-hander Cole Hamels exited a start with a lead. And for the third time this season, the Rangers' bullpen could not hold on to the advantage.

The culprits this time were Tony Barnette and Sam Dyson, as Seattle erased a five-run deficit, with Nelson Cruz knocking in the winning run in the ninth for the victory and a sweep of the three-game series.

Trailing 7-6 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mariners mounted their comeback without getting the ball out of the infield. Hamels was charged with four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. He struck out two.

                          White Sox 3, Twins 1

MINNEAPOLIS -- Avisail Garcia's 10th-inning, two-run homer lifted Chicago over Minnesota as the White Sox took two of three games in the weekend series at Target Field.

Minnesota reliever Ryan Pressly (0-2) took the loss while Chicago's Nate Jones (1-0) came out of the bullpen to pick up the win. David Robertson pitched one inning for his third save of the season in three chances.

Chicago shortstop Leury Garcia led off the 10th inning with a double to the right-center-field gap off Pressly, and he advanced to third on Tyler Saladino's sacrifice bunt. After Pressly struck out slumping Jose Abreu, Avisail Garcia slugged an 0-1 pitch an estimated 384 feet over the right field wall.

                          Rockies 4, Giants 3

SAN FRANCISCO -- Antonio Senzatela settled down after a shaky first inning, and DJ LeMahieu's run-scoring single in the second inning provided the winning margin as Colorado beat San Francisco at AT&T Park.

Senzatela (2-0) allowed three runs on seven hits in seven innings, but he held San Francisco batters to just four hits after the first inning.

Giants starter Jeff Samardzija (0-3), who gave up hits to the first four Rockies he faced, allowed just two hits after the first inning. Samardzija had eight strikeouts and issued no walks in seven innings.

                          Astros-A's, ppd.

OAKLAND -- Sunday's game between the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics was postponed due to rain, marking Oakland's first home rainout in three years.

The contest was postponed approximately two hours before the scheduled start. It wasn't immediately rescheduled.

Oakland's most recent home postponements occurred when heavy rains hit the area in April, 2014. A contest on April 1 was rained out and another was postponed three days later due to unplayable conditions when the grounds crew neglected to put the tarp on the field.

Ramirez pulled up limping after rounding second base on Mitch Moreland's go-ahead, two-run single. He was helped back to the dugout by manager John Farrell and was replaced by Steve Selsky.

                          • MLB notebook: Jays' Sanchez, Happ sidelined with injuries
                            April 16, 2017

The Toronto Blue Jays have problems with injuries to their pitching staff.

They placed right-hander Aaron Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his right middle finger, and Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ left in the fifth inning of Sunday's game against Baltimore with a sore left elbow.

Taking Sanchez's place on the 25-man roster is left-hander Matt Dermody, who was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. The move with Sanchez is retroactive to Saturday.

Sanchez is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in two starts this season. He has been dealing with a blister since spring training.

Happ threw ball one to Orioles center fielder Adam Jones in the fifth and then was visited at the mound by a trainer and manager John Gibbons. After a short meeting, Happ walked from the mound with the trainer and was replaced by right-hander Joe Biagini.

--The Baltimore Orioles placed closer Zach Britton on the 10-day disabled list with a left forearm strain.

The left-hander has five saves this season, including two in the four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays that ends Sunday.

Right-hander Stefan Crichton was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk after he had been optioned there Saturday to make room for right-hander for Alec Asher, who started Saturday against the Blue Jays.

--The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Jarrett Parker on the disabled list a day after he broke his right collarbone crashing into the fence while catching a fly ball.

Parker, 28, is hitting .143 with two RBIs in nine games this season.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Parker likely will be out for about eight weeks after undergoing a surgical procedure this week.

The Giants recalled left-hander Steven Okert from the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats to take Parker's place on the active roster.

--Boston Red Sox designated hitter Hanley Ramirez left Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the seventh inning with a left hamstring cramp and is considered day-to-day.

Ramirez pulled up limping after rounding second base on Mitch Moreland's go-ahead, two-run single. He was helped back to the dugout by manager John Farrell and was replaced by Steve Selsky.

                            • LEADING OFF: Morning start at Fenway, Ichiro back in Seattle
                              April 16, 2017

A look at what's happening all around the majors Monday:

                              SET THAT ALARM

The annual Patriots Day' game at Fenway Park is always the earliest start in the majors - 11:05 a.m. on the day of the Boston Marathon. Knuckleballer Steven Wright pitches for the Red Sox against Tampa Bay lefty Blake Snell.

                              WELCOME BACK

Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki figures to get a nice ovation when he returns to Safeco Field. Ichiro was wildly popular in Seattle after making his major league debut in 2001, and became an All-Star in his first 10 years with the Mariners. He was traded to the Yankees during the 2012 season and now, at 43, has 3,031 career hits.

                              ALL OR NOTHING

The Pirates are 6-6, and the math adds up - they've either swept or been swept in every series this season. Coming off three straight victories at Wrigley Field, Pittsburgh will try to extend its winning streak when Ivan Nova starts at St. Louis against Lance Lynn.

Red Sox star Mookie Betts hasn't struck out this season. Not once. At 119 plate appearances, his string of contact is the longest in the majors since 2004, when Juan Pierre of the Marlins went 147 times in a row without fanning.

                              BULLPEN BLUES

The Cubs have blown a save opportunity in three consecutive games for the first time since May 2000. Chicago relievers gave up 12 runs and three homers in 9 1/3 innings over the weekend against Pittsburgh. The Cubs hope to get things straightened out, starting when they host Milwaukee.
