          • Sunday's Diamond Notes
            June 4, 2017

Hottest team: Astros (9-0 past nine games, 11-1 past 13 overall)

The Astros continued their assault on the rest of the league, topping the Rangers 6-5 in Arlington for their second win in as many days against their Lone Star State rivals. Houston is averaging 8.3 runs per game during the nine-game run while allowing just 3.8 runs per outings. Not only are they hitting on moneylines, they're 7-1 on the run line over the past eight outings. The Astros turn to Brad Peacock to keep it going in Sunday's series finale. The Astros are 4-1 over Peacock's past five road outings, but just 1-6 over his past seven assignments against divisional foes and 2-6 in his past eight aainst teams with a losing overall mark.

Coldest team White Sox (0-4 past four games, 4-8 past 12 overall)

The White Sox haven't enjoyed their stay in Motown, as Michael Fulmer and Jordan Zimmermann have held down the Chicago offense while the Tigers have blasted Derek Holland Miguel Gonzalez. Detroit is outscoring Chicago 25-6 over their first two games. Chicago is just 2-5 over their past seven against a right-handed starting pitcher, and they're 9-24 in their past 33 road games against a team with a losing record. Chicago will have to try and solve ace Justin Verlander. The Tigers are 4-1 over J.V.'s past five home outings, although the Tigers are 0-6 over Verlander's past six against a team with a losing record.

Hottest pitcher: Chris Sale, Red Sox (6-2, 2.77 ERA)

Sale has made a seamless transition from Chicago to Boston, as he hasn't skipped a beat in changing his socks from white to red. The Red Sox are 5-1 over his past six outings while going 4-1 over his past five against teams with a winning overall mark. He also leads the majors with 110 strikeouts while holding the opposition to a .197 batting average and 0.91 WHIP. He'll look to make quick work of the Orioles, a team which has won just four times over the past 13 outings while going 2-6 across Chris Tillman's past eight assignments. The O's are also just 1-4 in his past five in Oriole Park at Camden Yards against a team with a winning overall record. All of this bodes well for Sale to keep steaming right along.

Coldest pitcher: Ricky Nolasco, Angels (2-5, 5.07 ERA)

The Opening Day starter for the Angels has been tagged frequently of late. In fact, he is tied for third in the majors with 16 homers allowed, trailing only Cincinnati's Bronson Arroyo (19) and Houston's Mike Fiers (18) in the category. Opposing hitters are humming along to the tune of a .278 batting average while Nolasco has posted a 1.39 WHIP. After posting a 2-2 record with a respectable 4.13 ERA in five April starts it has been all downhill. The veteran went 0-3 with a 5.91 ERA in May, serving up nine homers across 32 innings over six outings. The Twins have averaged 5.5 runs per game over the past 12 outings, so Nolasco could get trampled again on Sunday.

Biggest UNDER run: Red Sox (8-2 past 10 games overall)

The 'under' has been the play for the Red Sox lately, and it's always the suggested course of action when Sale is on the bump. The under is 4-1 in Boston's past five on the road vs. RHP, and a perfect 7-0 in their past seven overall against a righty. While the 'over' has hit in four of Sale's past five outings, the under has cashed in four of his past five against American League East foes. On the other side, the under is 8-1 in Chris Tillman's past nine starts while going 5-1 over his past six in his home yard. The under is also 8-1-1 in the past 10 installments in this series while going 15-5-2 in the past 22 meetings overall.

Biggest OVER run: Tigers (5-1 past six games overall)

The 'over' has connected in five of the past six for the boys from Motown, although the only 'under' result during the stretch was with Verlander on the hill, Sunday's probably starter. Detroit's offense has compiled 25 runs in the first two games of their series against Chicago, and the over is 7-3 over the past 10 outings. The White Sox turn to southpaw David Holmberg, a former Cincinnati Reds starter, as they look to snap a five-game road skid. The over is 8-3 over Chicago's past 11 road games and 12-4-1 in their past 17 against right-handed starters.

Matchup to watch: Cubs vs. Cardinals

The Cubs have gotten well at the expense of the rival Cardinals, winning the first two games of this well-pitched series. Chicago's Jon Lester has even gotten bold enough to throw over to first base to try and keep him stationed in place. The good news for the Cubbies is that the Cards are 1-5 over their past six road games and 2-5 in their past seven overall. While the Cubs are 13-6 over Kyle Hendricks past 19 outings, they have still won just twice over the past eight. St. Louis is 1-4 in their past five against Chicago, and 1-4 in Michael Wacha's past five outings. For total bettors, the 'over' is 10-1 in Wacha's past 11 starts against the Cubbies while going 4-1 in their past five against the Cards.

Betcha didn’t know: The Nationals are looking to add to their misery of the Giants. Washington has won five of their past six on the road while going 6-2 in their past eight against a right-handed starter. The Nats are also just 25-10 over Tanner Roark's past 35 outings while going 9-4 in his past 13 starts with five days of rest. While Oakland is 14-6 in their past 20 at home, they're just 2-6 in the past eight overall and 4-10 in their past 14 interleague battles. While the A's are 7-17 in Sonny Gray's past 24 outings, Oakland is a very impressive 15-3 in Gray's past 18 appearances on Sunday.

Biggest public favorite: Tigers (-200) vs. Tigers

Biggest public underdog: Brewers (+130) vs. Dodgers

Biggest line move: Red Sox (-125 to -170) at Orioles

              • MLB roundup: Astros win 10th straight
                June 4, 2017

ARLINGTON, Texas -- George Springer homered twice as the Houston Astros ran their winning streak to 10 by pounding the Texas Rangers 7-2 on Sunday.

The 10-game winning streak matches a run by the Rangers for the longest of the season. The Astros also tied a franchise best by winning their 10th straight road game. Houston won 10 straight away from home in 1989.

Carlos Correa homered in the third, Springer hit another solo shot in the fourth and Yuli Gurriel's solo homer came in the fifth.

The Astros scored at least six runs in all three games in the series and haven't scored fewer than six runs in a game since May 27.

                Nationals 11, Athletics 10

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Ryan Zimmerman, Matt Wieters and Michael Taylor homered in the final two innings, and Washington held on for a victory against Oakland at the Oakland Coliseum.

The A's scored six times in the bottom of the ninth, four of those coming on Matt Joyce's fifth career grand slam that made it a one-run game. But reliever Shawn Kelley retired Chad Pinder and Jed Lowrie to end the game and record his fourth save.

Bryce Harper returned to the lineup after serving a three-game suspension for charging the mound and fighting Giants reliever Hunter Strickland, who hit him with a pitch on Monday at AT&T Park. Harper went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and three walks, including one intentional, and scored twice.

                Cubs 7, Cardinals 6

CHICAGO -- Ian Happ went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, and Chicago held on to complete a three-game sweep over St. Louis.

Pinch-hitter Jon Jay drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning for the Cubs. Chicago improved to 17-11 at Wrigley Field and climbed above .500 for the first time since May 28.

Stephen Piscotty hit a three-run home run to lead the Cardinals at the plate. St. Louis suffered its eighth loss in the past 11 games. Cubs right-hander Pedro Strop (2-2) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory.

                Mariners 7, Rays 1

SEATTLE -- Ariel Miranda pitched a four-hitter and struck out a career-high nine as Seattle defeated Tampa Bay at Safeco Field.

Nelson Cruz hit a two-run homer in the first inning, his 14th home run of the season, as the Mariners completed a three-game sweep.

Miranda didn't allow a hit until Kevin Kiermaier's infield single with one out in the fifth.

                Twins 3, Angels 2

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Minnesota beat host Los Angeles for its 17th road win of the season.

Jason Castro and Miguel Sano hit home runs off Ricky Nolasco (2-6), who is among the major league leaders in dingers allowed this season, and 22-year-old right-hander Jose Berrios (4-1) allowed two runs in six innings for his fourth win.

It was the Angels' eighth loss in their last 12 games, and the 31st time this season they have scored three runs or less in a game. Los Angeles is 6-25 in those games.

                Indians 8, Royals 0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Jason Kipnis homered and drove in two runs and six Cleveland pitchers combined on a shutout of Kansas City.

After a nearly two-hour rain delay in the bottom of the second, Indians starter Trevor Bauer did not return after giving up two hits and a walk in 1 2/3 innings. Relievers Dan Otero, Zach McAllister, Bryan Shaw, Andrew Miller and Cody Allen held the Royals scoreless for 7 1/3 innings. Otero (1-0) picked up the victory, allowing one hit in 2 1/3 innings. His previous win was Sept. 22, also against Kansas City.

On the flip side, the Royals' bullpen allowed four runs in seven innings. Travis Wood, who had not pitched since May 28, gave up two runs on three hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings, his ERA climbing to 9.31.

                Tigers 7, White Sox 4

DETROIT -- Justin Upton's three-run homer to left field with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Detroit a victory over Chicago and a sweep of a three-game weekend series.

Upton drove a 1-2 curveball from David Robertson (3-2) into the left-field seats to give the Tigers their fourth win in a row and send the White Sox to their fifth straight loss. Upton also led off a three-run Detroit sixth inning with a single.

The White Sox had tied the score at 4 with doubles by Todd Frazier, Tim Anderson and Devan Smith in the eighth. Frazier also homered in the third for a 2-0 Chicago lead.

                Blue Jays 3, Yankees 2

TORONTO -- Josh Donaldson hit the go-ahead homer to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning and Toronto came back to defeat New York.

The home run came against reliever Tyler Clippard (0-3) and enabled the Blue Jays to salvage a split in the four-game series. Joe Smith (2-0) pitched a perfect eighth for the win and Roberto Osuna struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his 13th save.

Justin Smoak hit a first-pitch slider to center for his 14th homer of the season with two outs in the sixth inning to tie the score at 2. Donaldson led off the eighth with his sixth homer of the year.

                Red Sox 7, Orioles 3

BALTIMORE -- Chris Sale won his sixth straight decision, Andrew Benintendi homered twice and Boston split a four-game series with Baltimore.

Sale (7-2) has won his past four starts against Baltimore. He allowed three runs and six hits with nine strikeouts and one walk in six innings.

The Red Sox took a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning when a pickoff throw by Orioles catcher Francisco Pena sailed into left field and scored two runs. An inning later, Benintendi had the first multi-homer game of his career with a solo shot that made it 6-3. He also had an RBI single in the ninth.

                Marlins 6, Diamondbacks 5

MIAMI -- A.J. Ellis fouled off 10 pitches before driving home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, leading Miami past Arizona at Marlins Park.

Tyler Moore hit a three-run homer as the Marlins won their third consecutive series. They have also won seven of their past eight games and closed out an 8-2 homestand.

The Diamondbacks got two doubles and two RBIs from Daniel Descalso and a double, a single and two RBIs from Paul Goldschmidt.

                Braves 13, Reds 8

CINCINNATI -- Ender Inciarte drove in a career-high five runs while matching his career best with five hits, including a three-run homer, to spark Atlanta to a win over Cincinnati.

Danny Santana hit his first home run since being acquired from Minnesota on May 8 and finished with four hits and three RBIs, and Matt Adams homered for the third time in the last two games for the Braves, who pounced on Amir Garrett for nine runs in the first three innings.

Zack Cozart hit two home runs and a triple and drove in five runs to lead a Reds attack that reached Julio Teheran for 11 hits and seven runs in five innings. The Reds outhit the Braves, but they couldn't avoid suffering their fifth loss in their last six games.

                Pirates 11, Mets 1

NEW YORK -- Rookie Trevor Williams allowed one run in a career-high seven innings and David Freese collected three hits and three RBIs as Pittsburgh cruised past New York at Citi Field.

Williams (3-3), who lasted six innings for the first time as a major leaguer in his previous start on Monday, scattered seven hits and issued two walks while striking out three. He induced three double plays and retired 12 of the final 15 batters he faced.

Freese gave the Pirates a lead they never relinquished with an RBI single in the first inning. He added a sacrifice fly in the third and an RBI single in the seventh. Andrew McCutchen hit a three-run homer in the ninth for Pittsburgh.

                Phillies 9, Giants 7

PHILADELPHIA -- Freddy Galvis hit two home runs, and Maikel Franco and Odubel Herrera also homered as Philadelphia outlasted San Francisco at Citizens Bank Park.

Franco launched a tiebreaking home run in the eighth. Two batters later, Galvis hit his second home run of the game -- his first career multi-homer game -- to extend the lead to 9-7. Herrera had three hits and three RBIs.

Pat Neshek (1-1) picked up the win with a clean eighth inning. Hector Neris notched his fifth save.

                Brewers 3, Dodgers 0

MILWAUKEE -- Home runs from Eric Thames and Domingo Santana supported Zach Davies, who pitched six shutout innings as Milwaukee avoided a sweep with a win over Los Angeles at Miller Park.

Davies (6-3) held the Dodgers to three hits and a walk while striking out six to win for the sixth time in his last nine starts.

Thames slugged a solo home run in the first inning and Eric Sogard doubled the lead with a run-scoring single in the second. Santana homered in the eighth.

                Rockies 3, Padres 1

SAN DIEGO -- Jeff Hoffman held San Diego to one run on three hits over seven innings as Colorado won the rubber match of a three-game series at Petco Park.

Hoffman, 24, was promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday morning to take the place of left-hander Tyler Anderson in the Colorado rotation. Anderson was placed on the 10-day disabled list with inflammation in his left knee. He retired the Padres in order in five of the seven innings he worked.

Padres starter and loser Jarred Cosart (0-2) again struggled with his command after a fast start. The right-hander retired eight of the first nine hitters he faced. Eight of the last 11 hitters he faced reached base via five hits and three walks.

                • MLB notebook: Former All-Star Piersall dies at 87
                  June 4, 2017

Former major league outfielder Jimmy Piersall, who battled mental health issues throughout his 17-year career, died Saturday at the age of 87.

Piersall died at a care facility in Wheaton, Ill, according to the Boston Red Sox. He had been battling an illness for multiple months.

Piersall was a two-time All-Star with the Red Sox (1950, 1952-58) and also played for the Cleveland Indians (1959-61), Washington Senators (1962-63), New York Mets (1963) and California Angels (1963-67).

His mental health issues first came to light in 1952 when he suffered a nervous breakdown. After being admitted to a mental hospital, Piersall was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Piersall's autobiography "Fear Strikes Out" was published in 1955 and made into a movie in 1957.

When Piersall hit his 100th career homer as a member of the Mets in 1963, he ran around the bases facing backward.

Piersall finished his career with a .272 career average with 104 homers and 115 stolen bases. He was considered one of the top defensive outfielders of his era.

--Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander was removed two batters into the third inning of Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox due to right groin tightness.

Verlander had assured Detroit trainer Kevin Rand and manager Brad Ausmus with two outs and the bases loaded in the second that he could continue and they let him strike out Avisail Garcia to finish the frame.

But after giving up a leadoff home run to Todd Frazier and walking Yolmer Sanchez on four pitches, Ausmus came out with the trainer and quickly pulled his front-line starter. The Tigers announced before the inning was over that Verlander was removed for precautionary reasons with a tight right groin muscle.

--Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (wrist) swung in the cage one day after taking ground balls on the field.

Manager John Farrell said the hope is Pedroia can take batting practice in New York on Tuesday.

--Baltimore Orioles catcher Welington Castillo (groin) threw in the outfield and will likely play in a rehab game or two before rejoining the major league club, manager Buck Showalter said

--New York Mets manager Terry Collins said right-hander Seth Lugo (elbow) and left-hander Steven Matz (elbow) are expected to come off the disabled list and join the rotation on Saturday and Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Lugo and Matz have been on the disabled list all season.

Some more season win total over/unders for college football teams:

                    — Memphis 8.5, under -$120

                    — Ole Miss 5.5

                    — Navy 7, under -$125

                    — Nebraska 7, under -$120

                    *****************************

                    Monday’s List of 13: Wrapping up a sports weekend…….

                    13) Rockies-Padres game Sunday afternoon; FOX/San Diego had hot dog eating champ Joey Chestnut in the booth for a half-inning with Don Orsillo/Mark Grant, which was an invitation for high comedy. They asked the hot dog champ about wolfing down buns soaked in water, they asked about his cholesterol and his general health. It was actually interesting.

                    12) Speaking of the Padres, they’ve scored at least one run in the first inning in 7 of their last 14 road games, but haven’t scored a first inning run in their last 18 home games.

                    11) You watch these college baseball national tournament games, and you see pitchers throw too many pitches and you wonder how closely big league teams monitor all this when it comes to who they do or do not draft on June 12. Some teams prefer drafting high school pitchers because it simply takes that out of the equation— it also generally takes high school kids longer to get to the big leagues than college kids, because obviously, they’re younger.

                    10) University of Houston hosted a regional this weekend; their pitchers’ mound is jet black, very distinctive in appearance. Almost looks like blacktop on a playground.

                    9) By the way, in college baseball they throw the four pitches for an intentional walk. Far as I know, in high school ball where I live here in upstate NY, they haven’t had to throw the four pitches on an intentional walk for a long time.

                    8) Cincinnati Reds homered in their last 15 games, their longest such streak since May, 2010.

                    7) Nevada sportsbooks made a $10.5M profit booking baseball games in April, their 2nd-best baseball month ever— none of it was mine!!!

                    6) Miami Marlins have never had a player hit for the cycle; San Diego Padres have never had a pitcher throw a no-hitter, but back in the day, Padres had a pitcher named Clay Kirby who had a no-hitter thru eight innings, but he had given up a run and with San Diego trailing 1-0, they hit for Kirby in the bottom of the 8th inning. The reliever gave up a hit in the ninth inning.

                    5) Speaking of the Marlins, Edinson Volquez’ no-hitter Saturday was the first complete game for Miami in 480 games, dating back to June 3, 2014.

                    4) Justin Verlander left Sunday’s start in the third inning with a tight groin muscle. Detroit won the game on a Justin Upton walk-off homer.

                    3) Mets lost the series finale in their last nine home series.

                    2) Warriors 132, Cavaliers 113— Golden State is 14-0 in playoffs; the NBA has a problem on its hands, because these games are unwatchable. Washington Generals give the Globetrotters better competition. Cleveland was +11 in turnovers in this game and still lost by 19.

                    1) QB Malik Zaire transfers from Notre Dame to Florida; as a grad transfer, he is eligible to play immediately, but having missed spring practice, doubtful he would start right away.

                    • LEADING OFF: Astros seek 11th straight win, Dodgers vs Nats
                      June 4, 2017

A look at what's happening all around the majors Monday:

                      TEXAS 10-STEP

The Houston Astros have won 10 straight games, matching the Texas Rangers for the longest streak in the majors this season. They'll try to get No. 11 when they open a series against the Kansas City Royals. This roll has Houston running away with the AL West already, 13 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners and 15 clear of the Rangers. Mike Fiers (2-2, 4.96) starts the opener for Houston against Ian Kennedy (0-5, 5.12).

                      CONTENDER CLASH

Fresh off a series win over the NL Central-leading Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers return home to open a three-game series against the NL East-leading Washington Nationals. It's the first meeting this year between two of the top squads in the NL. Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (2-5) takes the hill for the Dodgers against Washington's Gio Gonzalez (4-1).

                      BACK IN IT

Toronto has its season back on track after a miserable start and trails the first-place Yankees by only 5 1/2 games. Now the Blue Jays will try to get starter J.A. Happ into the win column in the opener of a series at Oakland. Happ (0-3, 4.50) missed six weeks with a left elbow issue, returning last week and allowing two runs in four innings in a win over Cincinnati. Sean Manaea (4-3, 3.91) is set to pitch for the Athletics.

                      GOOD RETURNS

Junior Guerra has been excellent since coming off the DL, a run he'll try to extend when his Brewers open a home series against San Francisco. Guerra (1-0, 1.84) injured his right calf on opening day and has made two starts since returning, going 1-0 with an 0.77 ERA. Jeff Samardzija (1-7, 4.63) is up for the Giants.

                              • MLB Daily Line Drive: Monday's Picks, Betting Odds and Analysis

                                Double-Play Picks

San Francisco Giants at Milwaukee Brewers (+100, 8.5)

The Giants and Brewers open a four-game series Monday evening in Milwaukee with a very interesting pitching matchup and a curious betting line.

The Giants come to town losers of five of their last six games, including losing two out of three to the lowly Philadelphia Phillies this past weekend. Meanwhile, the Brewers also lost two out of three over the weekend but they were all very competitive battles against a very good Los Angeles Dodgers team.

For Game 1 of this series the Giants are sending veteran Jeff Samardzija to the mound - a guy who makes a lot of money to throw baseballs but is, in all honesty, a better wide receiver than he is a pitcher. "Shark" has a very rocky history pitching at Miller Park, and against the Brewers in general. Samardzija has made 10 career starts against the Brewers and his teams are 1-9 in those outings, including losses in eight straight. His teams have lost his last five starts at Miller Park where he owns a 6.15 ERA for his career.

The Brewers will be sending their ace Junior Guerra to the bump. Guerra will be making his third start since missing seven weeks with a calf injury. He has an electric arm and looked great while allowing only one run over 11.2 innings (0.77 ERA) since returning from the disabled list.

The Giants are a dismal 10-21 on the road this season, so them being favored by oddsmakers over a pretty good team who will be starting their ace tonight doesn't make a lot of sense. The conspiracy theorist gamblers would say, "There's something fishy about that line."

One aspect of the Brewers that we don't trust tonight is their bullpen. They possess one of the worst bullpens in baseball over the first two months of the season with an ERA of 4.05, 11 blown saves (second most in MLB), and a major league high 16 losses.

All of this info wrapped up together is screaming for a five-inning wager on the Milwaukee Brewers.

                                Pick: Brewers 1st 5 innings (-105)

Houston Astros at Kansas City Royals (+120, 9.5)

The Astros and Royals open their four-game series Monday night with a matchup of hittable right-handed starting pitchers.

Mike Friers (4.96 ERA) gets the ball for the Astros on the road tonight where he has been much more comfortable this season. Friers is 2-0 away from home thus far in 2017 and over his last three starts he owns a fairly reasonable 3.24 ERA. Home runs have certainly been his Achilles heel, with 18 big flies allowed in 10 starts, but a light hitting Royals lineup with a slight breeze blowing in from center should help his cause in that regard.

Ian Kennedy will get Monday's start for the Royals and he is having a terrible season in 2017 at 0-5 (team win/loss 2-7) and an ERA of 5.12. Over his last three outings it has been even worse with a 12.60 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and only 10 total innings pitched in those three starts.

The Houston Astros are the best team in baseball and have been incredible in the road this season at 21-6. Their league-leading road performance over the first two months of the season has profited bettors $1497 (based on a $100 wager for every road game). They have almost as many road wins this season (21) as the Royals have overall wins this season (24) and they are currently in the midst of a ten-game road winning streak.

You give us this kind of value on this Houston Astros team and we'll take it every day.

                                Pick: Astros -135

                                Yesterday's Picks: 1-1

                                Streaking and Slumping Starting Pitchers

                                Streaking:
Carlos Martinez, St. Louis Cardinals (4-4, 3.08 ERA, $-63)

The St. Louis Cardinals' starting rotation has been rolling over the last few weeks and their Opening Day starter Carlos Martinez is no exception. The wins haven't been there to the level that he would like, but if he continues to pitch the way he's been tossing over his last three outings the wins will certainly come.

Over his last three assignments, Martinez owns a 1.48 ERA, a 0.74 WHIP, and an opponent's on base percentage of only .207 in three quality starts.

Martinez gets the ball today in Cincinnati against the Reds and the Cards are favored at -140.

                                Slumping:
Bartolo Colon, Atlanta Braves (2-6, 6.99 ERA, $114)

Bartolo Colon's struggles have continued as a member of the Atlanta Braves. This is three or four times that "Big Sexy" has been featured in our "Slumping Starting Pitchers" section.

It's tough to hide when you are Bartolo Colon - and it's even tougher to hide when you are 2-6 with a 6.99 ERA and you have allowed 16 runs over your last two starts (7.1 innings of work).

This Colon experiment in Atlanta can't last much longer if this continues. The Braves are slight favorites at -120 at home against the Phillies tonight.

                                Monday's Top Trends

                                * The Philadelphia Phillies are 1-12 in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a losing record. +110 today @ Braves.

Weather To Keep An Eye On

There is some rain in the forecast today for Atlanta (50-60 percent chance) where the Braves are scheduled to host the Philadelphia Phillies. There will also be thunderstorms in the Atlanta area all day, so we'll have to wait and see what they decide to do with that contest.

The Wrigley Field wind today will be a stiff 15 miles per hour blowing straight in from the left field bleachers. The total for tonight's game between the Cubs and Marlins has been set at 7.5.

There will also be a 12-15 mile per hour breeze blowing out to center tonight in Oakland where the Blue Jays and A's will be facing a betting total of 8.
