WASHINGTON (AP) Stephen Strasburg was removed from a no-hit bid after 6 2/3 innings, and Ramon Cabrera singled against Matt Belisle leading off the eighth for Cincinnati's first hit in the Washington Nationals' 12-1 rout of the Reds on Sunday.

Activated from the disabled list before the game after missing two starts due to an upper back strain, Strasburg (11-0) threw 109 pitches, five shy of his season high. Strasburg has won a franchise-record 14 straight decisions and is the first NL starter to begin a season 11-0 since San Diego's Andy Hawkins in 1985.

Danny Espinosa homered twice, including his second grand slam in four games, and Wilson Ramos, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon hit solo homers.

John Lamb (1-5) allowed eight runs, eight hits and four walks in 4 1/3 innings. Cincinnati has lost 10 of 12.

    MARLINS 5, BRAVES 2

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) - J.T. Realmuto homered and drove in two runs, Adam Conley pitched six strong innings and Miami beat Atlanta in a game played on a U.S. Army post.

Christian Yelich also finished with two RBIs. He and Realmuto had run-scoring singles during a two-run fifth.

Martin Prado added an RBI single in the seventh to help the wild card-contending Marlins earn a split of the four-game series and win the first regular-season game - in any sport - held at an active military installation.

This game was played at a ballpark built from scratch in less than four months at the sprawling Army post that's home to 55,000 service members, including the famed paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Conley (5-5) allowed four hits in the Marlins' best outing by a starter in a week. In Miami's previous five games, each starter allowed at least four earned runs and none finished the sixth.

Matt Wisler (3-8) had six strikeouts for the Braves, giving him 15 in his last two starts, but he allowed three earned runs in six-plus innings.

    METS 14, CUBS 3

NEW YORK (AP) - Wilmer Flores went 6 for 6 with two of New York's five home runs, and New York romped to a four-game sweep.

Jon Lester (9-4) gave up eight runs and nine hits in 1 1/3 innings, the shortest of his 301 career starts over 11 major league seasons.

Curtis Granderson homered immediately in his return to the starting lineup, and New York also got long balls from Rene Rivera and pinch-hitter Kelly Johnson while setting season highs for runs and hits (22) in support of Noah Syndergaard (9-3).

After sweeping four games from Chicago in the NL Championship Series last October, the Mets outscored the Cubs 32-11 in winning their first four matchups this year.

    BLUE JAYS 17, INDIANS 1

TORONTO (AP) - Troy Tulowitzki had three hits on his bobblehead day, including a three-run homer, and Russell Martin homered and drove in five runs.

Toronto scored its most runs since beating Tampa Bay 17-11 on Aug. 7, 2010, and the Blue Jays matched their season high with 18 hits.

Cleveland lost its second straight following a franchise-record 14-game winning streak. Catcher Chris Gimenez pitched two innings for the Indians, becoming the third position player to take the mound this series.

J.A. Happ (11-3) won his fifth straight start, striking out a season-high 11 while allowing one run and five hits in seven innings.

Corey Kluber (8-8) gave up five runs and seven hits in 3 1/3 innings, his second-shortest outing this season.

    RED SOX 10, ANGELS 5

BOSTON (AP) - Hanley Ramirez and Sandy Leon hit two-run doubles as Boston scored seven runs with two outs in the fifth.

A day after Boston lost 21-2 and allowed 22 hits, Sean O'Sullivan (2-0) held the Angels scoreless into the sixth and allowed two runs and four hits in five innings.

Matt Shoemaker (3-9) gave up five runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Yunel Escobar had four hits and two RBIs for the Angels, who have lost 11 of 13.

    TIGERS 5, RAYS 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Justin Upton snapped an eighth-inning tie with a two-run double, Ian Kinsler added his 200th homer and Detroit won its sixth straight.

Bruce Rondon (2-0) retired the only two batters he faced, bailing starter Mike Pelfrey out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh to get the victory. Matt Andriese (6-2) was the loser.

    PHILLIES 7, ROYALS 2

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Cameron Rupp hit a three-run homer, Vince Velasquez (7-2) allowed two runs and five hits innings.

Cody Asche and Maikel Franco also went deep to help the Phillies win two of three against the defending World Series champions.

Royals starter Yordano Ventura (6-6) exited in the third inning after spraining his right ankle running the bases following his second career hit.

    TWINS 5, RANGERS 4

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Cole Hamels (9-2) was knocked out in the fifth inning of his shortest start this season and lost for the first time since May 27 as last-place Minnesota beat first-place Texas for the second consecutive day.

Hamels allowed five runs and 10 hits while walking three, leaving after walking his first two batters in the fifth. Hamels had won a Rangers record nine consecutive road decisions.

Brian Dozier drove in two runs and scored a pair to back Kyle Gibson (2-5), who won his second straight start after going winless in his first seven. Brandon Kintzler pitched around Robinson Chirinos' two-out double in the ninth for his fourth save.

    WHITE SOX 4, ASTROS 1

HOUSTON (AP) - Jose Quintana (6-8) allowed one run and two hits - including George Springer's homer - in seven innings for his first win since May 8. He had been 0-7 with a 4.58 ERA in his last nine starts.

Jose Abrey hit a go-ahead single in the third off Collin McHugh (5-6), who gave up two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings and remained winless since May 30.

Chicago pitchers retired 18 straight batters entering the ninth, when David Robertson allowed a single and walk before striking out rookie A.J. Reed for his 23rd save.

    CARDINALS 9, BREWERS 8

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Stephen Piscotty's second grand slam of the season propelled St. Louis to a rain-interrupted weekend sweep.

Brandon Moss had a go-ahead double in a two-run fifth, and rookie Aledmys Diaz hit his 11th homer.

Michael Wacha (5-7) allowed two runs and nine hits and escaped his fifth and final inning when Aaron Hill grounded into a double play on a 3-1 count with the bases loaded. Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a two-run double in a four-run ninth, and the go-ahead run was at first when Seung Hwan Oh struck out pinch-hitter Martin Maldonado for his second save.

Chase Anderson (4-9) has lost three straight starts, allowing 15 earned runs in 10 2/3 innings and was pulled after his fifth walk, with one out in the fifth. Jacob Barnes gave up Moss' RBI double for the lead and Jhonny Peralta's sacrifice fly.

    MARINERS 9, ORIOLES 4

    YANKEES 6, PADRES 3

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Mark Teixeira hit his 400th and 401st home runs, Didi Gregorius also connected and Chad Green got his first big league victory as New York avoided a three-game sweep.

Green (1-1), a 25-year-old right-hander, held San Diego to one run and three hits in six innings, struck out eight and walked none. The rookie was recalled earlier Sunday from Triple-A.

Andrew Cashner (3-6) came off the disabled list earlier in the day and allowed two runs - one earned - and six hits in six innings.

      Weekend Sports In Brief
      July 4, 2016

      BASEBALL

      FORT BRAGG, N.C.
(AP) Adam Conley missed out on all those fun military-related activities with his Miami Marlins teammates. After all, he had a game to pitch.

He wound up leaving Fort Bragg Field with the memory of a lifetime - a victory in front of thousands of cheering troops.

Conley pitched six strong innings and the Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves 5-2 on Sunday night in a game played in a temporary ballpark on a U.S. Army post.

It was the first regular-season game - in any sport - held at an active military installation. The game was played at a ballpark built from scratch in less than four months at the sprawling Army post that's home to 55,000 service members, including the famed paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division.

      TENNIS

      LONDON (AP)
      - Serena Williams, the defending women's champion and six-time winner, overwhelmed Annika Beck 6-3, 6-0 in just 51 minutes on Centre Court, advancing to the fourth round with her 300th career Grand Slam match win. Williams, who compiled a 25-2 edge in winners, wasn't aware of the milestone until she was asked about it in a post-match interview.

Jo Wilfried Tsonga and John Isner needed 44 games and 2 hours, 33 minutes to complete the final two sets of their suspended third-round match. The final set featured 36 games and lasted 2 hours, 8 minutes. Tsonga saved a match point at 16-15 in the fifth before overcoming the American 6-7 (3), 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2, 19-17.

No. 7 Richard Gasquet, No. 10 Tomas Berdych, No. 32 Lucas Pouille, Nick Kyrgios, and Jiri Vesely also moved on. Other winners in the women's draw included No. 13 Svetlana Kuznetsova, No. 23 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, CoCo Vandeweghe, Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova.

LONDON (AP) - Novak Djokovic's 30-match Grand Slam winning streak ended stunningly Saturday with a 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (5) loss to Sam Querrey in Wimbledon's third round.

Djokovic had won the past four major titles in a row - and was halfway to the first calendar-year Grand Slam for a man since Rod Laver in 1969.

Djokovic last exited as early as the third round at any major tournament all the way back in 2009, when he departed the French Open at that stage. He made at least the semifinals at Wimbledon every year since 2010.

      NBA

      LOS ANGELES (AP)
      - Jamal Crawford agreed to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, accepting a $42 million, three-year contract offer, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.

The deal cannot be signed and finalized until at least Thursday, when the NBA's offseason moratorium is lifted.

Crawford had interest from other clubs, and was believed to have received a sizable offer from Philadelphia. But the Clippers countered at a level that Crawford apparently wanted, and he's staying in Los Angeles.

      CHICAGO (AP)
      - Rajon Rondo has a new beginning in Chicago, and the Bulls have a new starting point guard.

The four-time All-Star agreed Sunday on a $30 million, two-year deal, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press.

Rondo becomes the Bulls' replacement at point guard for Derrick Rose, the former NBA MVP who was traded to the New York Knicks last month.

DALLAS (AP) - Deron Williams is re-upping with his hometown Dallas Mavericks, who are also bringing back promising young forward Dwight Powell.

Two people with knowledge of the deals said Sunday night that Williams has agreed to a one-year, $10 million contract, while Powell is set for a four-year deal worth $37 million.

      BOSTON (AP)
      - Al Horford decided to accept a four-year, $113 million offer to join the Boston Celtics.

Horford made the announcement on Twitter on Saturday, and the terms of the detail were confirmed to The Associated Press by a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations.

      DALLAS (AP)
      - The Mavericks have informed representatives of Golden State's Harrison Barnes that they intend to sign the restricted free agent to an offer sheet for a four-year, $95 million contract, two people with knowledge of Dallas' plans said Saturday.

The people spoke to The Associated Press about the potential maximum contract on the condition of anonymity. The Warriors can match any deal for Barnes and are more likely to do so if they don't get an agreement with Kevin Durant.

      LOS ANGELES (AP)
      - With Kobe Bryant gone and the team in desperate need of mature leadership, the Los Angeles Lakers are turning to Luol Deng for help on the court and in the locker room.

The Lakers and Deng agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract Saturday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. The 31-year-old Deng averaged 12.3 points and 6.0 rebounds for Miami last season.

      AUTO RACING

      DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
(AP) - Brad Keselowski had his confidence shaken at Daytona International Speedway more than once.

He was a good plate racer, but never could find his way to victory lane at NASCAR's most famous track.

That changed Saturday night with a dominating performance that gave Team Penske its 100th career Sprint Cup Series victory - a win that Roger Penske celebrated in victory lane by participating in the traditional champagne spray.

More important, it gave Keselowski his long-awaited first win at Daytona.

Keselowski led a race-high 115 laps then held off Kyle Busch on a two-lap shootout that sent the race into overtime for one additional lap. It gave him his fifth career Cup win in a restrictor-plate race, but all the others had come at Talladega.

      SWIMMING

      OMAHA, Neb. (AP
) - Connor Jaeger had to swim nearly a mile to earn another race at the Olympics. Abbey Weitzeil claimed her second individual event in Rio with a frantic dash from one end of the pool to the other.

The final night of the U.S. Olympic swimming trials came down to the long and short of it, a pair of races that couldn't provide more of a contrast.

Jaeger used a powerful finishing kick to pull away from Jordan Wilimovsky in the 1,500-meter freestyle Sunday night, while Weitzeil claimed victory in the 50 free just ahead of Simone Manuel.

      TRACK & FIELD

      EUGENE, Ore. (AP)
      - America's Olympic mainstays, Allyson Felix, LaShawn Merritt and Justin Gatlin, are all on their way to Rio de Janeiro. With the best times in the world this year to boot.

Gatlin's 100-meter run in 9.8 seconds at U.S. Olympic Trials on Sunday was the same time he posted last year at world championships in Beijing, where Usain Bolt nudged him out by a hundredth. Bolt pulled out of this week's Jamaican national championships and his form will be a mystery for at least the next few weeks.

Felix's quest at her fourth Olympics is to become the first woman to win gold in both the 200 and 400 meters.

Merritt burst down the last 50 meters of the straightaway to finish in 43.97 - a .76-second romp over Gil Roberts. It was a clinic, reminiscent of Merritt's .99-second blowout over rival Jeremy Wariner in the 2008 Olympics.

Defending Olympic decathlon champion Ashton Eaton had a score of 8,750 - nearly 300 short of his world record. A bit frustrating for Eaton, but the score was still notable because it was one point better than the personal best of anyone who can qualify for the event in Rio.

      GOLF

      AKRON, Ohio (AP
) - In his first start since winning the U.S. Open, Dustin Johnson won another World Golf Championship on Sunday.

Johnson ran off three birdies on the back nine at Firestone and closed with a 4-under 66 to win the Bridgestone Invitational. He was helped in part by a surprising collapse by Jason Day.

Day, the world's No. 1 player, was tied for the lead when he hooked a 3-wood off the tee on the par-5 16th, hit across the fairway and tried to bend a shot around the pond. He went into the water, making double bogey.

      PORTLAND, Ore.
(AP) - Defending champion Brooke Henderson survived some tense moments on the back nine on the way to a four-stroke victory at the LPGA Cambia Portland Classic.

The second-ranked Henderson shot a 14-under 274 after a final round 71 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, pulling away from American Stacy Lewis, who was 10-under after a 69.

Henderson became the first back-to-back winner at Portland since Annika Sorenstam won consecutive tournaments in 2002 and 2003. The 18-year-old is the first wire-to-wire winner at Portland since the tournament went to a 72-hole event in 2013.

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Greg Chalmers won the Barracuda Championship at Montreux for his first PGA Tour title, eagling the final hole for a six-point victory in the modified Stableford scoring event.

The 42-year-old Australian broke through in his 386th start after entering the week as the active player with the most events without a victory.

          Monday's Diamond Notes
          July 4, 2016

Hottest team: Philles (6-2 past 8)

The Philadelphia Phillies have been surprisingly effective lately, winning seven of their past 10 games overall. They host an Atlanta Braves squad with Jose De La Cruz making his second career start in the bandbox known as Citizens Bank Park. The Braves and Phillies have split six games 3-3 this season, with each team going 1-2 at home in the respective three-game sets. Philly had lost seven in a row at home until handing the Royals a 2-1 series loss in the recently completed series Sunday in interleague play.

          Coldest team:
          Rockies (3-8 past 11)

With the lineup the Rockies roll out every night there is no reason this team should be ice cold, but they managed a total of two runs in their three-game sweep in Los Angeles over the weekend. Things go from bad to worse as they head to San Francisco to face a Giants team which has posted wins in three of the past four. San Francisco and Colorado have split their previous 10 games this season. The Rockies have dropped five straight games, and for those who enjoy betting totals the 'under' is 4-0 in Colorado's past four outings.

Hottest pitcher: Danny Salazar, Indians (10-3, 2.22 ERA)

Salazar has been phenomenal this season, going 10-3 with a 2.2 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 15 starts overall. He has recorded 107 strikeouts over 93 1/3 innings while keeping the opposition down with a .185 opponent batting average. Salazar has quality starts in five of the past six while winning each of his past six outings. The Indians are also 6-1 in their past seven against left-handed starting pitching, and 6-1 in the past seven against the Tigers at home. Cleveland has dominated Detroit lately, winning 14 of the past 16 meetings overall.

Coldest pitcher: Jonathon Niese, Pittsburgh (6-6, 5.07 ERA)

Niese started the season off fine, but he has since fallen on hard times. The southpaw has allowed four or more runs in each of his past four starts, all losses. He looks to get better against the Cardinals Monday. He is 0-1 wth a 10.45 ERA in two starts against St. Louis this season, giving up 13 runs - 12 earned - over 10 1/3 innings with a .356 opponent batting average. Until the veteran left-handed finds a way to contain the St. Louis Cardinals, avoid taking the Bucs with Niese on the bump.

Biggest UNDER run: Astros (5-2 past 7)

The 'under' has cashed in five of the past seven for Houston, and their pitching has been a large part of that success. Houston has allowed 3.0 runs per game during the past six outings, and while the 'under' has hit in five of the past seven overall. Look for the 'under' to continue for the Astros. Houston faces a Seattle team which has seen the under hit in five of their past six road, including 4-0 in their past four road outings against teams with a winning overall record. The under is also 5-0 in Lance McCullers' past five home starts, and 4-1 in his past six home outings against a team with a winning overall record.

          Biggest OVER run:
          Athletics (9-1-1 past 11)

The offense has been flowing for the Oakland Athletics lately, and the 'over' has been a frequent result. The over is 9-1-1 in Oakland's past 11 games overall, and 5-1-1 in their past seven agianst right-handed starting pitching. While the under is 10-4-1 in Kendall Graveman's past 15 against a team with a losing overall record, the 'over' is 4-1 in Graveman's past five outings on the road.

Matchup to watch: Mets vs. Marlins

The Miami Marlins have managed to win just two of their past seven road outings, and they're 0-4 in their past four on the road against temas with a winning home record. The Marlins are also 1-4 in Tommy Koehler's past five road outings against a team with a winning record, while the Mets are 6-0 in their past six home games and 22-4 in their past 26 games played on a Monday, for whatever it's worth.

          Betcha didn’t know:

The Padres head to the desert looking to vanquish the Diamondbacks. San Diego is just 2-11 in their past 13 road games against a right-handed starter, while going 8-22 in their past 30 vs. RHP. Arizona has dropped seven of eight games in a row. Arizona turns to Archie Bradley to stem the tide. The Diamondbacks have lost seven of their past eight at home, and seven of the past eight overall.

          Biggest public favorite:
          Cubs (-260) vs. Nationals

          Biggest public underdog:
          Orioles (+145) at Dodgers

Biggest line move: Nationals (-225 to -240) vs. Brewers

LEADING OFF: Porcello, Urias, Harvey, Moore featured on 4th
            July 4, 2016

A look at what's happening all around the majors today:

            HOME COOKING

Boston's Rick Porcello (9-2) looks to remain unbeaten this season at Fenway Park when Boston hosts Texas. Porcello is 6-0 in seven home starts.

            YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Julio Urias (1-2), the Los Angeles Dodgers' 19-year-old left-hander, makes his eight big league start Monday against Baltimore, his first interleague outing. Urias is 1-1 with a 2.49 ERA in his last five starts, striking out 34 in 25 1/3 innings.

            LOSS LEADER

Right-hander Matt Harvey (4-10) starts Monday afternoon for the New York Mets against the Miami Marlins. Harvey's 10 losses are a career high, top the NL and are the second-most among major league pitchers behind the Rays Chris Archer (11).

            BEEN A LONG TIME

Tampa Bay left-hander Matt Moore (4-5) faces the Los Angeles Angels for the first time since September 2013, when the Rays begin a four-game series Monday. Moore is 3-0 with 1.52 ERA in four starts against the Angels.

            MOVING ON

Neither the Atlanta Braves nor the Miami Marlins were complaining about a quick turnaround to 4:05 p.m. EDT games Monday. The Braves and Marlins played Sunday night at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a sprawling U.S. Army post home to 55,000 service members, in an Independence Day-related thank-you to the troops. Atlanta plays at Philadelphia on Monday while the Marlins visit the New York Mets. Miami OF Christian Yelich - whose younger brother is in the Marines - called playing before the troops ''a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity'' that ''is going to be something that we remember for a long time.''

              Armadillo: Monday's six-pack

-- San Diego Padres signed six of the top 30 international prospects this weekend; Atlanta Braves signed five of the top 30.

-- Danny Espinosa had five HRs against the Reds this weekend, 15 RBI. Wow.

-- Arron Afflalo signed with Sacramento, his sixth team in nine years; he played for Denver two different times.

-- There were rumblings Sunday that Al Horford signed with Boston because he did not want to be on the same team as Dwight Howard in Atlanta.

-- Dodgers took Cuban P Yaisel Sierra off their 40-man roster, after giving him $30M five months ago- they've eaten a ton of money, between Sierra and Carl Crawford.

-- Lakewood Blue Claws, Class A farm team of the Phillies, drew 10,011 fans last night for a game that I assume was followed by a fireworks show.

Armadillo: Monday's List of 13: Happy 4th of July, everyone.......

              13) Here are two big league stat lines; which career would you rather have?

              Pitcher A: 6 years: 36-40, 4.10 ERA in 103 starts.
              Pitcher B: 6 years: 129-47, 2.19 ERA in 211 starts

These stats actually belong to the same guy; first six years and second six years of Sandy Koufax' career. He was very ordinary until his seventh year in the big leagues, but once he got rolling, he was freakin' unstoppable.

              12) NC State's basketball team cancelled its summer trip to Italy this year because of security concerns in Europe. College teams only get to take these trips once every four years- they say they'll try again for next summer.

              11) Major league ballplayers take an average of 12-15 bats with them on road trips of a week or so. Major league bats cost around $100 apiece.

              10) Chicago White Sox' last fifteen home runs have come with the bases empty.

              9) Bud Norris pitched seven shutout innings in his last start for the Braves; he was traded to the Dodgers and threw six shutout innings in his first start for LA.

Norris is the first pitcher since 1906 to throw consecutive scoreless starts, in the same season, for two different teams.

              8) Oregon PG Dylan Ennis transferred from Villanova couple years ago; he was hurt lot of last year, but he got a sixth year of eligibility from NCAA thsi past week, which should greatly help the Ducks next winter.

              7) Washington Nationals took Stephen Strasburg out after 6.2 IP against the Reds Sunday, even though he was tossing a no-hitter. Strasburg had just come off the DL with a bad back and had thrown 109 pitches.

              6) Chicago Cubs are 51-30, have a huge lead in NL Central-- they're 14-17 against teams with winning records, 37-13 against teams with .500 or lower records.

              5) Mets signed Jose Reyes, presumably to play 3B and take Wilmer Flores' place, but Flores went 6-for-6 yesterday, only the second Met ever to get six hits in a game.

Reyes, by the way, is hitting .246 in the minor leagues, as he awaits his call.

              4) Old-time baseball: Astros plunked Jose Abreu in the 7th inning, so in bottom of the 7th, Jose Quintana threw a pitch behind Evan Gattis. Risky business, considering it was a 2-1 Chicago lead at the time- you don't want Quintana ejected there.

Players kept their cool, so did the umps. Astros manager AJ Hinch lost it a little and got tossed, but that was probably because Quintana had retired 14 in row at the time.

              3) If the playoffs started today.........
NL: Nationals-Cubs-Giants. Wild Card: Dodgers, Mets
AL: Orioles-Indians-Rangers. Wild Card: Red Sox, Tigers

              2) From now on, anytime anyone busts my balls about something I screwed up in the past, my pat answer will be, "Hindsight is 20-20". Its a great answer, and if its good enough for weasel politicians, it is good enough for me.

-- How could you pick Fresno State to cover? "Hindsight is 20-20"
-- Why did you trade Victor Martinez off your fantasy team? "Hindsight is 20-20"
-- Why did you ever get married? "Hindsight is 20-20"

              See? It fits all occasions.

              1) Stay safe around fireworks, please. Don't need anyone getting hurt.
Remember the 3 G's Gambling, Golf, Girls not in any particular order.....

Armadillo: Tuesday's List of 13: Looking at ACC football teams.....

Boston College-- Went 0-8 in ACC LY; last time they were better than 7-6 was '09. Lost last five bowl games, after winning eight in row before that. Completed 44.6% of their passes LY-- grad transfer QB Patrick Towles started 22 games at Kentucky, and he should help the BC offense a great deal.

Clemson-- 56-12 last five years, with a +11 turnover margin, surprisingly low; scored 39.3 ppg in last four bowl/playoff games. 5-10 vs spread in true road games last three years. 29-4 in ACC games last four years, with three losses to Florida State and one at Georgia Tech in 2014.

Duke-- Played in bowls last four years, with average total of 83.5- last three of those were decided by 5 or less points. Are 13-7 as home favorites last four years, 5-1-1 as road favorites the last decade, 12-3 in non-ACC games last three seasons.

Georgia Tech-- Slipped to 3-9 LY, first losing year since 2010- went 1-9 in last ten games, but win was over Florida State. Johnson is 107-73 as I-A coach, just 4-7 in bowl games; triple option is easier to defend when you have full month to prep for it.

Louisville-- Petrino has 17 starters back, including top six rushers, top 10 WRs, so expect them to score a lot- they went 8-5 with freshman QB LY. Cards are 9-15 as home favorites last four years, Won last five games (3-1-1 vs spread) with Kentucky.

Miami-- Alum Mark Richt (145-51 at Georgia, 9-5 in bowls) is new coach. Lost last five bowl games, scoring just 15 ppg- they were favored in three of them. Pittsburgh-- Had four coaches the last six years; have 8 starters back on both sides of ball this year, so some welcomed continuity. Lost three of last three bowls, allowing average of 36 ppg. 4-9 vs spread at home last two years. Last three years, Pitt is 5-13 vs spread coming off a win.

Syracuse-- Babers is third coach in five years- they have top five rushers, seven of top eight WRs back. Orange is 7-14 vs spread as road dog the last five years. Tech is 8-17-1 as home favorite last five years, 3-9 as road favorite last four years. Tech won three of last four bowls- they've been to a bowl the last 23 years in a row. Not an easy task replacing a legend.

Wake Forest-- Their stadium seats 31,500, #94 out of 128 in I-A football. Last bowl was in 2011, last bowl win in '09. Since '07, Wake is 14-24 as road underdog- over last decade, they're 19-11-1 as home dogs.
