ormer Alaska Governor Sarah Palin continued her sour streak in the endorsement game Tuesday night, with two more of her candidates, Clint Didier and Rita Meyer, falling to their establishment rivals.
August has been a rotten month for the Palin brand. Last week, Karen Handel lost her runoff bid for Georgia's GOP gubernatorial nomination despite heavy efforts from Palin. Colorado's Bob McConnell also lost that same day in a Republican Congressional primary. The week before that, CeCe Heil of Tennessee fell flat in her Congressional primary, just seven days after Todd Tiahrt failed to win a tight Senate primary in Kansas.
Palin's lone success this month was in backing Tom Emmer, but he was running in a no-contest primary to lock up the GOP gubernatorial nomination in Minnesota. According to the first round of post-primary polling, Democrat Mark Dayton leads Emmer by nine points.
The former vice presidential candidate will get to test her name again next week in a primary day that could prove huge for Palin. With elections in Alaska, Arizona and Florida, four Palin-backed candidates, including former running mate John McCain and Alaska Tea Party upstart Joe Miller, will head to the polls.
Four-term Senator John McCain is looking likely to successfully fend off a primary challenge mounted by former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, while Joe Miller's path to Alaska's GOP Senate nomination has been complicated by serious fundraising deficiencies and internal campaign drama involving the wife of a staffer threatening a radio show host.
Take a look back at a list of Sarah Palin's unsuccessful endorsements and vote on the biggest fail.
