BK would have allowed the company to restructure it's debt and not be taken over by the union at the expense of the bondholders. Bailing out GM was a payback to unions imo. Do you really think that money is going to be paid back?
I don't know if the money is going to be paid back. And the GM bailout is a double edged sword. It is feasible that if GM went bankrupt, or completely out of business which is always a possibility with bankruptcy, the economic affects could have been devastating. There's no way to quantify it now.

You would have investors, pensioners, retirees, employees, suppliers, consumers ALL being affected. We are talking about millions of people. Why risk that? Sure, we can look back and say, we should have let them go bankrupt or out of business, it's the law of the land. But we didn't and who knows what that would have meant for the economy....On one hand, it's possible it could have worked out, on the other, it could have sent the country into a further tailspin and that was the last thing we needed....

      Keep avoiding that question Gbell.....

The Dow went up 5k points from 6k to almost 11k . Up well over 40%. And gas prices went up with it, right?

Geezus, not all there....It's why I stopped debating in here.

I agree Dow has gone up, and I have posted my thoughts on why it has in other posts. People afraid to miss the upswing, money pulled out earlier sitting on sidelines, etc. Not economic policies of borrowing and deficit increases. But 10k is not "NEAR" 14k as you are convinced it is.

You are the one who used the word "nearing", I just called you on it and you act like you do.

When was TARP (bank bailout) passed? As soon as you can answer under which President, then you can claim who is "all there"

Who was President when financial service deregulation was passed?

Ask Mommy how to spell "Google".

TARP was passed in late 2008. Obama freed up $350 billion in January of 2009 that was going to be blocked and used it as continued bailout funds. I'm not giving him full credit, but to say he had nothing to do with it, is wrong. As usual, Gbell trying to put words in my mouth....I should expect nothing more.

                      Keep trying.

Still waiting for the answer to my question....

Try closer to 11k. Called me on what? You didn't call me on shit.... It's gone up 5k, well over 40% since he's taken office, and oil has gone up with it? That's the point. Not that it's near, close, 3k off, the all time high...

Keep avoiding questions by pointing out something trivial like nearing or not nearing. Get a life.....

The only reason you cam back to this site was, because the rant section was opened up. The other time was to bash chuck, because that other site told you to quit the bashing. You only go from site to site to bash!

This section of the site is for debating/arguing different points of views as well as ranting. However, cut the name calling out! We are all adults here and should be able to hold a conversation without calling each other ignorant, stupid, POS etc.

The hypocrisy is so-over the top with certain people its unreal. You have one guy who has in his signature how many days left that someone with zero experience in the united states senate can run for president. That shows his true intelligence right there. Then all they do is look for posts to jump and start shit with people. They started attacking the current president from his first day in office, he hadnt even moved his freeking suitcase in and they're ripping him.

Troll (Internet) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

It's very simple you cannot deal with Republicans openly as the refuse to admit to anything wrong. At least most of them that I've talked with fall into that category. I believe that you think its about race with them and I don't think for the majority of the republicans on this site it is, but that is a nice card for republicans to push with all those BS signs etc. Even if Clinton would have gotten the democrat nomination and won they would be all over her as well.

Said it before and will say it again there is hardly any bipartisan anymore on the hill.
