Kaz, what other amendments were asked to be read word for word? Don't google, don't cut and paste. What other amendment was asked to be read aloud? ONE amendment was asked to be read aloud. A single-payer amendment that would have changed the entire bill, never passed, and was a waste of time to be voted upon. Even if there was a THREAT to have every amendment read, it obviously didn't happen right?

You are not following the story if you think the repubs have stalled the process when not ONE repub vote is needed to pass. The delays have come from Leiberman and Nelson in the Senate and the Progressive Caucas and Stupak in the House.

The whole reason for closed door negotiations is so they won't have the opportunity to stall it.

Hey Clark, why didn't they ask to have EVERY amendment read if they wanted to stall? Could have come out of committe in days since no repub vote was needed, and could have had the 3 Senate bills merged into one, and a floor vote within days with no repub votes. It was the Dems stalling to buy the votes to get to 60. Make sure your Google toolbar is up to date!
