I disagree that he heasn't established a record. Look at the spending, troop escalations (more then President Bush), adding to the deficit, proposed legislation, bailouts, etc. I know he was dealt a shitty hand, but that's why he ran for President. It's been nearly a year, or 25% of his Presidency. When are we allowed to judge? If some things pass, it might be too late.

And I disagree that judging a black man and a white man can't be race neutral if you compare record, propsals and accomplishments.

We spend more than 22-1 in our military budget than the next ten countries combined. diplomacy is the way to go here. In regards to Iraq. i would have been for going in there if Bush and Co would have been honest up front. The war was for oil, let there be no doubt about it. They knew that in 2003, the world oil production "peaked" meaning that overall production will and is dropping every day until it runs out. we are fighting over scraps now. the problem is: since oil prodution has peaked, from now on, not only will it cost more to drill for the oil, but it will be of lesser quality. The American way of life would not be possible if it were not for oil and natural gas. We are running out, and we have no other real alternative. Its too late. Hydrogen uses more energy to produce it. We don't have any nuclear power. In the next 20 years we are going to have to learn how to live in another way. We need to build up our Railroads now. You guys remember when the U.S. oil production peaked? Around 1973. We all know how crazy that decade was. Now, the worlds oil production has peaked. This problem is going to pose the biggest problem to people living in the suburbs: over 50% of the population. One can only live the suburban life if they hace access to a car. I think the burbs will be the slums in the next 20 years.

the followig is a great video explaining the "peak oil" problem. I have been into this stuff for the past 10-12 years, and have read tons of books, journals, and field work about peak oil. This video does a good job explaining the basics, and is worth 45 min of your time. This is a huge problem, and I'm not sure if we have an answer to it.

The first U.S. commercial nat gas come from factured shale (mudstone) in upstate NY. Wells drilled in 1821 fed gaslights on the streets of Fredonia 38 years before Drake's 1st oil well. Despite this long history, less than 2% of U.S. nat gas production comes from fractured shale.

here is a link that has some good graphs. Again, I did not mean that we're out of oil. We will have oil for a time to come, but the overall cost is going to shoot up.
