Here is just one more reason why I think Palin's daughter's pregnancy is relevant:

It is hardly unusual for a teenage girl to become pregnant, and unless she is Jamie Lynn Spears, who sold her baby pictures to OK! magazine, the news value is minimal. But some media commentators say Palin is fair game, not just because she is running for national office but because she is a self-described "hockey mom" who told the nation that her eldest son is headed to Iraq.

"Once she's brought her children in as selling points, unfortunately the bad comes in with the good," says Lisa Bloom, a Court TV anchor. "She's integrating her mom quality as a key part of her résumé. We didn't do that in the press; she did that."

Incredibly Palin is trying to make this out to be a positive thing. She must be taking lessons from Phil Ste ele.

Sarah Palin Says 17-Year-Old Daughter Is Pregnant

      Monday, September 1, 2008 12:30 PM

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin said Monday that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child's father.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," they added.

Senior McCain advisers said the Arizona senator and his top aides had known about Bristol's pregnancy before offering Palin the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket.

McCain's campaign and the Palins asked that the media respect the couple's privacy.

This sounds like a shotgun wedding to me. It also looks to draw in the anti abortion people. Aka the right wing religious nuts, which McCain has had trouble with.

Mccain did this out of despiration. Anything to get elected. Vote for Mccain but what kind of shape are we going to be in when we are just a heart attack away from Palin being in charge of our country? Not to mention a vote for Mccain is going to be a continuation of Bush and all of his shit! Its a free country but im not going to contribute to more of the same!!

I don’t think sixteen year old children should be having babies. She can’t be equipped to be a mother at this point and it severely limits her ability to obtain either a high school or a college degree. Tragic events like this surely must indicate what kind of parents Sarah and Todd Palin are.

Obama himself was born when his mother was 18!!

Thank God for you Dems he was not aborted by his Mom. Many 17 year olds would be persuaded into doing by your party right?

You all are reaching bigtime and you are ignorant for going down this road.

                      • I will go a step further and suggest that no only do I have doubts about Palin overall(total lack of relevant experience being the chief reason), but it makes me wonder about McCain;if all things considered, if he believes Palin is more qualified to be VP and possible President than a number of others who were unanimously accepted to be more qualified, it seriously calls into question his judgment and thought processes.
Then again, the name of the game is to get elected, and he probably thought that a fairly good looking and young WOMAM might put him over the top.
In either case, I think it is bad thinking on his part, and my overall opinion which overall prior to this wasn't all that bad, has now slipped a notch or two.

Who asked you to think, just dont vote for him.

Obams mom was 18 when he was born. Obama has shown great judgement:

Doing drugs, Rev Wright, Tony Lezko, Joe Biden picked because he is not experienced himself to be President.

Keep attacking though as you will help get McCain elected with your hypocritical remarks.

As someone suggested in another forum, if it had been Biden's daughter who at 17 was unwed and got pregnant, the right wing fanatic moral majority segment of the Republican Party would be going crazy about this and shouting and passing judgment about it until the cows come home.
Since it is their own candidate however, they are simply turing their cheeks then other way and saying "no big deal"-talk about hypocrisy!

                            • They're all hypocrites savage, don't waste your breath. It doesn't matter who was nominated. If it was Romney, they'd all be Mormon. The were all bashing McCain when he was a "conservative", now they love him. Palin is the biggest joke ever. We should send her over to the Middle East for one day, I think it would be the first time she ever left Alaska.

Better to send her to the Middle East then to "send" her to Washington, thats for sure!
