New Congress was elected in fall of 06 on the promise of executing the will of the people and ending the war and they haven't. It's nearly 1.5 years later, still nothing. un has nothing to do with that.

You completley missed my whole point.

I never said the UN had anything to do with any of this, because they didn't. Nothing was done by congress for several reasons.

1. A new President is going to be elected
2. The Governor would just veto the bill

A new President was 2 years away from being elected in 06 and the new congress could stop funding any day they want to and the war would be over. So are you saying the lives lost in the last 2 years are on the hands of congress for doing everything they could while waiting for a new president?
And I might have ogtten lost on your un comment, as i thought you were saying that the un support expires in 09, while mcp said something also about the un going along for the ride.

You forget it can get by Congress then the Senate, however the President then can veto it. Our Governor was very stern about not pulling out the troops. So Democrats would have had to get 2/3rds of the Vote in the House and Senate just to get it to the Governor. Wasn't going to happen.

The UN never wanted us in there. The UN will be looking at it in early 09 with regards to what we should do. And my point on the UN is that the Governor and his cronies went against what the UN wanted before so they don't give 2 cents what the UN thinks.

Not only that but the Governor was screaming that the Democrats were aiding terrorists and hurting our troops when the Democrats were trying to do something about the war. Do you think they wanted the negative publicity of that.

They don't have to pass a thing. When he submits funding requests, they can approve or deny. What did they do? And b/c they were going to be called names? If they wanted to stop the war, they could. They could have done it in the last wave of money given, but kucinich and paul were the only ones to vote the right way and against it.
