      Sorry

Man it can be tough. Lost my dad 11 years ago on his and my mom's anniversary date and my son's birthday, January 5. This was four days after my wife's father died. It was one of the hardiest things I had ever had to do when I told my son that his "other" pa paw had passed away also (my father.) Everything others have told you is true. I did not want to believe that things would get better with time but they do. My cousin told me that since my dad was a truck driver there would be times driving on the interstate I would see a truck and think of him and start crying. He was right and it still happens to me sometimes out of the blue. I just returned from a two week camping/hiking trip in the Rockies and the Grand Canyon and the stars and the clear night sky can work on you too. If you can find a copy of Mike and the Mechanics "In the Living Years" or Eric Clapton's "My Father's Eyes" get in car by yourself play the songs, drive and cry it out. It helps.

Also the support on this sight is unreal-"y'all" are to be commended.

Great point ... Don't try to hold the emotions in ... let them out ... a good cry is good for you ...

          Happy Late Birthday Spark!

Thanks! Knowlez needs to know we are there for him and hopefully what he reads here will help.

As mentioned earlier I was camping for a couple of weeks and I just noticed you had a birtday on July 7! You were born the same year as the "Ole Lobsterman!"

It seems as if every day, week, months, years etc, that go by I keep hearing more and more about people getting cancer. My Uncle dated someone for years she developed cancer and had to go through 2 major treatements and on the third one ended up passing away.

My moms best friend since they were children developed cancer and is on her 3rd treatement as well.

A guy where I was shopping at home depot just had surgery for cancer.

The current house that I own the wife had passed away from skin cancer from being outside as they discovered it too late. She had 2 children who at the time where 8 and 10.

So it seems that Cancer at least to me is getting more widespread.

I am just catching up to this thread- My condolences to all. I experience much grief in my work with people and within my own family. I agree to let it out- songs or even tearjerker movies -helps us to cope better with a disbelief in what has happened. The loss feels irreplaceable and the sadness occurs mostly when we are not so predisposed. My heartfelt wishes for each of you to grasp the moments as they were -to unload the feelings as best you can - and to remember in smiles for what once was. In my profession- the lungs are connected to grief. The voice is softer and you may find it not as easy to breathe in. Work on breathing in thru the nose and then 1/2 way of inhalation breathe in the mouth- let it go out longer than it came in- Repeat 20-30 times--your anxiety will quickly disappear as soon as oxygen is again opening up the capillaries in the lungs. I do this with amazing success in my practice and each time a unique calmness comes over them. I also apply acupuncture to open the chest and throat area as well as calm the mind. Just thought I might share.
"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice.
