It's a business decision made by the bears....very similar to the decision they made with Lovie Smith last year.

They have every right by putting the franchise tag on Briggs to pay them what they are doing now. In fact, the bears could be paying him less.....but didnt. Next year they will negotiate a longer deal with more money, but they are in no obligation to do it this year.

In saying that....Do I fault Briggs for being pissed? No, not really...but it's all part of the deal that the Owners and Players Association made and signed when they had their latest labor deal.

Are the bears being cheap? I think so...and it might cost them this time...but they are in their rights to do what they did.
