I was a child of the 60s and always liked hardcore rock n roll, e.g. Zeppelin, Hendrix, Doors, etc.etc. Was into the proverbial sex, drugs and rock n roll scene... like so many of my generation. When my musical tastes branched out to country music in the 1980s my brother asked me what the warning signs were so he could avoid the same fate. He nicknamed me garth after the fat boy from Yukon Oklahoma who's sold more albums than any person or group in the history of the world... and it's been an alias ever since. My real name is Gary. My sons and their friends all call me 'g'. They like to come over and play pool and drink my tequila or take my money on the golf course. So sometimes they call me g-money. Ironically, Garth Brooks now lives on a 600-acre ranch just a few miles from where my brother lives, east of Owasso, Oklahoma. He sees him every now and then at their childrens' basketball games or at the local grocery store. All the locals just treat him like another one of the boys, not like a mega-celebrity. And my brother is also a country music fan now, has been for many years. Sorry, that's a really stupid and rambling story now that I read it. But this is a fun thread.
